What I'm Wearing Today: 1.5.09

What I'm Wearing Today: 1.5.09 by FFM

My shoes are a similar pair by Steve Madden that I bought last year. The bracelet is really so pretty IRL...this picture does not do it justice. It's also not a cuff, but a regular large link bracelet with little crystals that match the Snowball and Twisted Crystal necklaces. :)

  1. Hello FFM! I wish I had known you already had those sandals...how do they fit? I ordered them yesterday.
(I'm the one who ordered the gap pants and the salmon colored cashmere). Of course, I can't wear mine yet (live very North of you),
but ordered them for a vacation at the end of the month.

  2. Hi Suzy! I don't have the J.Crew sandals...mine are a simliar version by Steve Madden that I picked up last year on sale. Sorry! I'd love to hear what you think of your sandals when they arrive, though!

  3. Very cute. I am completely jealous that you can wear sandals in January!

  5. I'm so jealous of your Florida weather! Here in PA its a balmy 35 degrees :) I'm looking forward to the Ecole jacket variations. I just got notice that mine shipped today! Thanks for the advice

  6. Hi FFM!

I wish I had the bright blue astrid as well. I love it with the acorn cords, and I frequently pair these colors together myself with other pieces.

I did not know if you were still taking requests, but I ordered (on an final sale impulse) the Argyle Vneck cardigan in hazelnut ecru graphite(Style #10557), and am struggling with what to put with it. Everything I put with it looks so "blah" argyle. It does not match with white, it is ecru in the sweater.

I have city fit luxe cords in sea salt, choc cord stretch skirt, sea salt luxe knit top, light spearmint (among a million other colors) perfect fit tees and graphic tees, watson pants in stone & british khaki. Do you think any of those work? I definitely feel like it needs a punch of color. Any suggestions of colors or coordinates to give it a more feminine eclectic look?

    THANKS!

    Athena

  7. Athena, what color are the small stripes in the Argyle? I can't tell from the online photo.

  8. Love the blue color paired with the acorn color. Blues and browns are so gorgeous together!

Enjoy your lovely weather. I lived in FLA for a while but couldn't deal with not having seasons :) Sometimes though I'd instantly trade our -20 windchill for a sunny afternoon!

  9. Thanks Tammylee, Lolo, Athena, and AppGal! I really like the way the Bright Blue of the Astrid picks up the blue beading on the Candy tee, and the acorn brown with the lettering...it's hard to tell in the Polyvore set, but it's all really pretty together IRL. :)

  10. Lolo: This outfit also looks fabulous with the Snow Leopard Cardigan instead of the Blue Astrid...mine came today and it is absolutely gorgeous IRL! :)

  11. FFM!

I LOVE the snow leopard cardigan. I will be watching that closely, and I think that will be my J.Crew Card rewards purchase to me. I love cardigans, can't get enough. ha!

The argyle stripes are gray. The diamonds are camel and cream/ecru color. I was mistaken about the cords I have, they are actually the favorite fit vintage trouser in sea salt. They seem to match well, I guess. I also have the cornsilk fireball necklace or a chocolate pearl necklace and earrings that I received for Christmas that I think might go well.

    Thank YOU!

  13. FFM: In a previous set, you paired the Snow Leopard Cardigan with the Jackie shell in desert brown. Now that you have the cardigan in IRL, does the color in it still look like it'll match with the desert brown? I'm thinking about ordering the 2 pieces. Thanks!

  14. Good Morning Tammylee! I put the Desert Brown with the Snow-Leopard cardigan, and while they are not an exact match, they do *go*. The Ivory in the Cardigan is a perfect match to the Sea Salt Pleated Jersey top, and the spots are a camel color with a hint of darker brown in them (that's why it *goes* with the Desert Brown jackie). I haven't seen any other pieces on the J.Crew site that are close to the colors of the cardigan other than the Sea Salt, Desert Brown, and Camel of the tanks. HTH!!! Oh, it does look really pretty with the Champagne Rose Balm tee, and the Acorn cords look really nice with it, too. :)

  15. Thanks, FFM. I love the options.

  16. Love this outfit!! Do you have any suggestions on what JCrew's "putty" color would go with? I really like it...but being relatively pale skinned..I need something to brighten it up. Any thoughts?

  17. Hi Jordan! I also love the putty color at J.Crew, and think it's a really great neutral that can be worn with just about any color. I would suggest pairing it with a color that is flattering to your skin tone in order to brighten it up a bit. HTH!

  18. FFM: In the January catalog and online, they picture the snow-leopard cardi with the blue jasmine zoey tank, It's a different combination. What do you think of it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi Tammylee! I love the new Blue Jasmine color of the Zoey tank, so I'm really hoping the catalog look works IRL. I noticed the tank is now marked down to $49.99, too. I called my local J.Crew to check if they have it, but they didn't get it in the store...it would have been nice to get the additional 30% off on it. I think it's definitely possible for the colors to work together since the ivory and camel are such great neutrals...the determining factor will be the actual color and sheen of the tank, IMO.

  20. FFM: Thanks for your thoughts on the blue cami. I love how it looks in the catalog. I think I may order it. If it doesn't work with the snow-leopard, I'm sure it'll work with other pieces.

  21. Hi FFM,
I'm curious. I have the merino ruffle tartine cardigan in snow leopard from early Fall - I'm thinking that this is pretty similar to the new snow leopard JC is offering...yes?

And it does pair well with apricots - that's how I wore it in the fall. I wear it all shades of brown too.

  22. Hi anon @3:38! I think you are right that the print is pretty similar on both cardigans...it looks as if the main differences are the ruffles and buttons. I missed out on the Tartine so I am very pleased to have gotten one this time around. ;)

Thanks for the tip on the apricots with the sweater, too...it sounds beautiful. :)

  23. OK, so even though I live in Virginia (same state as JC) I must be the last one who received my January catalog - just this afternoon!

Checked out that snow leopard cardi, and the main difference between the fall version (ruffled tartine) and this one is the background color. The ruffled one has a brownish background, with white "spots", and the new one has the creamy background with the beige "spots".

But one "spotted" merino cardi is enough for now!
    ;-)

  24. Thank you for the clarification S! If I had purchased the Tartine, I probably would not have gotten the Snow-Leopard, as well. They're both very pretty though. :)
