Wearing Today: 2.11.09

I wore this outfit for the first time today to my weekly Women's/Mom's Meeting and received numerous compliments on it, especially the Tissue Rolling Ruffles tank. :) Since I am fairly short I don't normally wear flats, especially not with rolled or cropped pants, but I like the cute and extra casual feel this pair add to the outfit. I much prefer myself in heels with cropped and long pants as I think it helps to extend my legline and make me appear taller, so today's look is an exception to that rule. ;)

Here it is without the cardigan which is the way I will wear it more often in the Summer.

  1. OMG, I love it! What size do you usually wear? I was afraid the tank would be too blousy, but it doesn't seem that wat on you! Looks great!

  2. Thank you SJs Mommy! I normally wear a 0 or 2 in J.Crew tanks and camis. This tank is an Extra Small. :)

  3. Thanks for the IRL pics... these definitely convinced me NOT to buy that tank! I am sorry to say, imo, the ruffles don't do much for you. You totally saved me wasting time buying and then returning an item.

  4. I love this! I didn't think of pairing the ruffle with a jackie!

    That necklace is SO cute.

And nice arms!! How tall are you? I am trying to picture the rolled-up pants on my short legs...

  5. I second that, you have great arms! Four boys will do it!

  6. I was wondering about that top. And I have to say the top looks fantastic on you- with and without the jacket. Congrats on the purchase!!! :)

  7. ss and SJs Mommy: Thank you! :)

ss: I am only 5'4" but have a 30" inseam. My preferred length on pants are those with a 33" inseam since I normally wear a 3" heel.

  8. Too funny! I wore the same outfit today but with the light gray ruffle tank and the garden bracelet. Also - to my Wednesday morning group. :) Glad we live so far apart :)

  9. Icsmom, you and I have very similar pics! (:

FFM - what cute, cute outfit. I think you're going to drive some traffic from your moms group to the JC site!

  10. I was just telling my DH the other day while we were at our local B&M that NOBODY could pull that off (the ruffles tank) - but you did! I'm amazed! AND it looks great on you! Love the whole outfit! :)

  11. This outfit looks terrific on you! I am contemplating this tank, and now I am thinking I'll have to pick it up this weekend. I just received my new Lucky magazine and one of their features for what's hot this upcoming season is shirts with ruffles. Love it!

  12. FFM: this top looks incredible on you. I think the key is to keep it slightly fitted, don't you think? I saw it in the Palm Desert store this weekend and didn't love it. However, now that I've seen this on you, AND in the darker color, I think it's my newest purchase! You look great!!

  13. I just love how the cardi pulls this look together. Not sure if I could pull this off...but it's definitely something I want to try next time I go to a store.

  14. Love the ruffle tank on you! I tried the xs in store after seeing it in your polyvore but it was too big/loose on me, do you think it might shrink to fit? TIA!

  15. You look lovely FFM! I do believe J.Crew made that tank for you.

  16. Lovely outfit! Specially the tank without the cardigan.

  17. Gorgeous on you! Thanks for the IRL pics. I love the tank and but am honest with myself - I know I could not pull it off! I usually wear a M or L in J.Crew tops, and the ruffles would not add anything flattering to me! But - you look fantastic in it! Congrats!

  18. Love it! I was definitely going to leave the tank before seeing it on you!

Are these jeans the ones you distressed yourself or are they the vintage slims? Thanks for the IRL pics!

  19. Hey FFM -- you're the first non-JCrew-Model I've seen wear the rolling ruffle tank well. Sorry, all the rest, but . . . you do want the truth sometimes?

    Great outfit!

  20. I think the tank looks really cute on you, FFM!

I'm thinking of purchasing the Victoria cami in melon - what color cardigan would complement the melon color? I'm trying to step out of my color comfort zone with this top!

  23. Alexis, Paper Bag Princess, RatsOnParade, gigiofca, Anon @8:26, Leslie, AppGal, JennLC, Roxy, The Outfit of the Day, Elizabeth in MO, Lauren, Fidele, Lauren H, ashley, and HJC: THANK YOU!!! :)

lcsmom: Too, too funny!!! I can't believe you wore almost the exact same outfit! :)

Leslie: ITA that the key is keeping it fitted...too loose and it adds more bulk. I'm also going to try it with slimmer fitting crop pants as well as matchsticks...I think both will help give a leaner appearance, as well.

JennLC: I am actually hoping that it DOES shrink a bit. The XS fits, but I would have gotten an XXS if they made one. I'll let you know what happens when I launder it. :)

  24. Fidele: You are so sweet! I really appreciate your compliment! :)

SS, SJs Mommy, and Ashley: Thank you for the compliments on my arms...I've actually lost a little bit of the muscle tone on them this Winter and need to get back into Summer bathing suit shape. It's hard to find the time to workout anymore since my 3 year old refuses to nap...my workouts now mainly consist of keeping up with my 4 boys. ;)

HJC: The natural and lavender combinations sounds gorgeous! :)

Lauren H: I would wear the Melon victoria with Champagne, Light Pewter, Putty, White, Navy, the Snow Leopard Cardigan, and you could also see how close the color is to the Melon Jackie Cardigan for a Monochromatic look. I have the Bright Fucshia Victoria Cami and wear it with the Bright Fuchsia Melanie Cardigan...they look beautiful together. :) HTH! Btw...there were pics of the actress Katherine Heigl from Grey's Anatomy wearing the Melon Victoria with the Snow Leopard Cardigan not too long ago.

  26. FFM:
Your arms are amazing! Love this look. I really wasn't a fan of the ruffle tank until I saw you and Gigi both blog about it. It looks great on both of you.

I have a question about the Jackie cardi. I bought a couple last season and I love them but this year the fit is a little off for me. I feel like they are so boxy. I know you are a fan of the Jackie and I was wondering if you have had this problem this year?

    TIA

  27. Thank you Emily!!! I do really love the Jackie cardigans, but haven't actually purchased or even tried on any this year. All of mine are also from last year...I'll make it a point to try them on the next time I'm in my local J.Crew. I'm really curious to know if they changed the cut and fit on them now...that would NOT be good!

  28. Laura: These are the Gap Essential jeans that I distressed myself. :)

  29. I wondered about this tank as well. Boobs + ruffles are usually not a good combo! Thanks for the advice to go small on the tank and slim in the bottom.

  30. Great outfit! Where can I find that necklace?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks mcc! I purchased this necklace at Forever 21 at my local mall. It can also be bought online Click Here . The one I have on is the Black/Ivory combo. HTH! :)

  32. Wow, you look fabulous in the ruffle tank! I honestly thought it would be horrendous on everyone, but you pull it off :)
