Wearing Today: 2.20.09

Wearing Today: 2.20.09 - by FFM on Polyvore.com

I took my son to his Physical Therapy appointment early this morning, and this is what I wore. I wish Target had better pics of their merchandise, because this jacket is much cuter IRL. It has a very *Chanel-like* look to it, IMO. It can be found on the Target website and in stores. Mossimo Black Teal Boucle Jacket . I found my jeans at a Second Hand Boutique...they have a nice wide leg and flattering fit. (Mine do not have that belt). My turtleneck is from GAP, and my bracelet is from Target, but I couldn't find a pic on their website.

  1. I really like that jacket...is it a tweed-ish material?

Cute, as always! Hope the PT appointment goes well!

  3. Good Morning AppGal and ashley!

AppGal: the jacket does have a tweed-ish feel, but with the *ripped* fringe on the sleeves and button placket. It reminds me a lot of the jackets in the Chanel Spring 2009 RTW show. (The PT appt. went great). :)

ashley: Thank you! The bracelet is actually from Target, but I couldn't find it on the website so I substituted this one in its place.

  9. Hi FFM! Hope you are had a good week! Love your outfit today. I am going to try and pull something similar together to wear tonight. My husband and daughter are going to a daddy daughter dance and the moms are all going out for dinner! This outfit is casual yet very pulled together. Thanks! Have a great weekend!

  10. Hot mamma!

I surely do need a white turtleneck. I think I have a creme one so I'll have to start working it like yours from the GAP.

    Nice!

  11. Gorgeous as always! I now have that jacket on hold at my local Target store. Hope it looks half as nice on me as it does on you.

Gigi, I'm with you on the white turtleneck thing. I can't seem to find one this time of year and I'm in NY.

Anyone know where we could get one!

P.S. FFM, hope your little guy had a great appt. :)

  12. Gigi and JaneEsq, the actual color name of my Gap T-Neck is *new off white*, so it's not a true white, but it's not cream, either. Unfortunately they aren't available online at GAP anymore, but I think that cream will work with the ON jacket for Gigi and with this Mossimo jacket for you, JaneEsq. Btw...on the jacket: My4Boys mentioned on Polyvore that she had also considered the jacket when she was in Target earlier this week and will probably go back this weekend to get it. She also suggested replacing the buttons on the jacket with different ones, and I think it's a great idea. The jacket is still cute with the current buttons, but I may try to find some with a little more detail to replace them with. The jacket can be worn alone or with a tank underneath instead of the t-neck, too. :)

  13. I just looked at the jacket on the Target website. Does it fit TTS? Is it lined? I love the fact that it says it is machine washable! It looks so cute on you! I love your blog. I am a mom too and I think we're about the same age so I'm always looking for smart, youthful yet age-appropriate styles. You seem to have a knack for looking so polished yet comfortable.

  14. Hi Mom2Abbott! Thank you for the kind words!

Yes, the jacket is fully lined, except for the very edge of the sleeve. I am wearing the XS, but it's mainly because I have a small bust (34B/C). I would have gotten the Small if my bust were larger.
Let me know if you need any more information.

For anyone considering getting the jacket: I actually purchased mine a couple of weeks ago when it was temporarily marked down to $24.99, so they may do that again soon. I think you can probably get a price adjustment if it gets reduced after you purchase it...it's something worth checking into. :)

  15. Btw...you can't tell from my pic or the website photo, but the jacket has black, creme, teal/forest green, brown, and a bit of camel, too (that's why I wore the boots I did with it). I like the fact that it can be worn with black, brown, or camel making it extra versatile. There was a tank like the pink one I wore yesterday in the teal/forest green color...wish I would have gotten it because I think it would probably look nice with the jacket. I may go back and pick it up...it was only $4.48, so check it out if you get the chance.

Also, the jacket looks really pretty with the opera length pearls worn knotted, or with the Pearl Cluster necklace, too. I didn't wear my pearls today since I had on my large pearl earrings...it looked like too much altogether.

  18. I found the tank online but it's still full price. I'm not 100% sure that it will work with the jacket, but the odds are good that it will. Here's the link: Tank at Target .

The pearl bracelet must be in store only.

  19. You have to stop putting together cute outfits, my wallet hates this blog LOL :)

I LOVE that jacket!!! I actually saw one of JCrew SAs wearing a similar one (I don't think it's JCrew though).

P.S. speaking of Chanel-not sure if you are a big fan of iphones but there is an application for it which enables you to see newest (and older!) fashion shows. I'm hooked :)

  20. Just want to tell you I love your blog and your outfits. I just read some of the insensitive comments from the other day and I am sorry to read about your son.

BTW I also do not eat after 6:00 pm and I am not anyway near being anorexic.

  21. FFM, love your sets as usual, thanks for the tip on that lovely jacket. I'm checking that out! Your hair looks adorable in that photo. I recently bought a maggie jacket in ivory, oddly showed up online in my size, and found a ton of sets from you to peruse. Thanks again!

  23. I have one like this from Target too. How was the PT appointment?

  24. Thank you SanFranciscoCA, casual-crew, cdp, and HeidiG!

Hi Joanne! PT went really well today...my son has been seeing this therapist for almost a year and loves her. She is really amazing, and we feel blessed to have her as his PT. :)

  25. FFM, I LOVE the ring, where did you buy?

  26. Good Morning The Outfit of The Day! My ring is from Forever 21, but I don't see it available online. It was around $4. :)

  27. Good morning, FFM! I love this outfit. The jacket is too cute. You look fabulous as usual. :)

  28. FFM, I remember in one of the posts on JCA you said that you had went from a 6 to a 4. My question is, did you have to buy all new pants? Was it a huge size difference in terms of J Crew? I am losing weight and have mostly 6's in my closet and was wondering if I would have to replace a lot of my pants. Or could if the size difference is not that large, maybe get them taken in a bit? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Good Morning jcrewmommy! I did have a couple pair of my pants taken in at the waist so I didn't have to buy new all at once. Then I would just pick up a pair on sale in my new size here and there as I could afford them. Eventually the larger size pants were replaced with the smaller size, and I found a new home for the pants I no longer needed by giving them to friends or donating them to the local charity.

  30. Good morning and thanks for the advice!! I think I will have the more quality pants taken in (like the university trousers and pants like that). I can always replace the chinos and lower end items in a smaller size... :)

  31. Wow, FabulousFloridaMommy- I'd say you outdid yourself with this fantastic outfit, but then again- I know there'll more and more splendor coming! What can I say- you are one stylish, extremely talented lady! Thank you for the fabulous pics!

  32. I like this Target Jacket in like the burnt orange/rust color--and am considering purchasing it but am on the fence!
You're right Target has some great tanks...the fabric on those are nice...and the longer length peeking out of a cute jacket like the one you bought is sweet!

  33. Ladies,

Just got back from Target w/ my jacket. I'm a 36D amd bought the Medium. There was plentyof room in the bust area. However, I might like the rest of the jacket to fit a little closer. I may go back and try a small, just to compare. HTH anyone else that was asking about sizing....

  34. I had seen this jacket before but passed it up b/c buttons made it look cheap I had thought. But after seeing how cute you looked wearing it I thought I'd give it a 2nd look. I still don't like the buttons but the fit and styling are enough to make it worth it so I went ahead and bought it this time and will maybe change out the buttons if they really bug me too much. I would love it if you would make a few more sets using this jacket just to give me some more ideas of how I could wear it. I do not have a cream turtleneck and probably couldn't find one this late in season so if you could share some other options that would be great! Also, I picked up a few other great finds at Target that I had to share... they have some Merona cardigans on sale for just $15 that are very Jackie-like. If I liked all the colors I'd buy in every color. Not the greatest quality but nice light-weight for summer and great fit I thought. And at that price who cares if it only lasts one season! Plus I've found that the new Jackies are not of the same quality as the old ones and would only buy if I can get on sale, certainly not worth $60. Also, at Target I got the cutest Merona scoopneck blouse in navy very similar in style to JCrew meringue top. I just created a splurge vs. steal polyvore set with it. Check it out. http://www.polyvore.com/splurge_vs_steal/set?id=6748731

P.S. I'm the new follower who emailed you about fit of the snow leopard cardigan. I got the small and luckily enough it fits, a little more snug than appears on you in your pics, but still fits and is ADORABLE! I know I will get lots of use out of it, especially in thanks to all the great sets you and others have made. Thanks for all that you do! You truly ARE fabulous!

  35. Hi shopmom! Thank you so much for sharing your other fabulous finds at Target! That Navy top in your Polyvore set is supercute. I'll be sure to look for it the next time I'm there. I will also show some more styling ideas for this jacket, as well.

Btw, I'm SO glad the Snow-Leopard Cardigan worked out for you! :)

Have a wonderful and blessed afternoon!
