Update: Replaced Buttons on Mossimo Black Teal Boucle Jacket

I wanted to give an update on the Mossimo Black Teal Boucle Jacket that I purchased from Target and blogged about Here . I decided that I would replace the buttons after My4Boys commented on Polyvore that she had considered doing it, and I thought it was a fabulous idea. I visited my local JoAnn Fabrics store this past Saturday and purchased new buttons at 50% off. I sewed them on Sunday evening, and thought I would post a couple before and after shots.

Photo with the original buttons:

Photos with the new buttons sewn into place...I opted for buttons with faux pearls:

Here is a photo I came across at Grazia Daily.Co.UK in their Style Hunter section. The dress the girl is wearing is a Chanel dress...look familiar? The fabric appears almost identical to this Mossimo jacket, IMHO. :) *Note: I do not agree with or recommend her *over accessorized* look. ;)

Btw...thank you to all who have inquired about my posting IRL photos. :) I do intend to post more in the near future...life has been extra busy and hectic lately, but I will try to get back to posting more soon. :)

  1. Very nice! It's amazing what a few buttons can do for the look of an item. I actually saw this jacket in Target this weekend and thought of you. It really is super-cute, but I didn't get it :(

    Have a great day :)

  3. LOVE the new buttons. It's amazing how something as simple as swapping out buttons can transform a piece. I have this jacket and was planning on doing the same thing, but have yet to venture out on a button search. Maybe I'll have to get a move on this weekend, while the inspiration is still hot! Thanks for the before and after shots. It turned out great!

  7. This is too funny! I scoped out this jacket at Target after reading about it on your blog, and didn't love the buttons. I honestly thought about changing them, but I couldn't be arsed to do it, so I didn't get the jacket...But it makes a great upgrade to a cute jacket! Congrats on your savvy!!!

  9. I love that you replaced the buttons on the boucle jacket with pearl buttons! Très Chic!

I have often thought about replacing buttons on some of my cardigans for a more updated look but I can't sew a button on even if my life depended on it.

  11. Brilliant solution...I have found those target jackets are darling but always flawed in the buttons. I think I have a project for this summer! :)

  12. Hi, I have the jacket too and love the fabric. But the puff sleeves...It just look funny on me...with my petite body. I was going to return the jacket, but should I try to make the sleeves flat? I just love the colors in the fabric and i'm really heartbroken to take it back.

  15. Very Chanel. Very nice. Thought of you when I saw the jacket on Sun. I recvd the twisted cotton trench today and a button change might be nice on that. I look forward to more IRL pics, but I have also enjoyed your recents posts!
