*Fall Into the Gap*: Items Worth Mentioning

Last evening I had a rare opportunity to visit the local Mall without my boys. I wanted to see the New Arrivals at J.Crew IRL and use my Red Card for the last time. I had ordered a pair of jeans from Gap.com (with free shipping) because I STILL like the Gap after all these years. Granted, most items are hit or miss, but there ARE really great pieces to be found. Anyways, I had decided to return the jeans because the fit was off on me...more of a lower rise than I prefer. So after I finished my return I started looking around (like I always do) to see the items IRL that I have been looking at online, and found several of them to be worth mentioning. I didn't get the chance to try any of them on but the jacket, however...I am mentioning them because they looked great IRL and the quality is there, plus Gap is running a 25% off sale items in the store. I'm not sure if it's still going on today, so if you plan on visiting for that reason make sure to call ahead. I also have noticed that most of the time the prices in the Gap stores tend to be lower than the online prices.

First item of mention is: The Cropped Pleated-Sleeve Jacket , which comes in Optic White and Buoy Blue. I actually purchased this in the white because it is so much cuter IRL...it reminds me of the J.Crew Faille Maisey Jacket but with short sleeves. The in-store price was $33.99 plus an additional 25% off of that. However, I got mine for $15 because it has a small rip in it and they gave me an extra 40% off due to it being damaged...nothing that a needle and thread won't fix. ;) The weight of the jacket is nice for Spring and even Summer. The white looks bright, crisp, and clean. I purchased the Small...it's a little snug on my shoulders when buttoned, but feels fine when unbuttoned, which is how I plan to wear it.

Next is The Floral Ruffle Tank . Once again...so much prettier IRL than online. I didn't get the chance to try this one on, but I have high hopes for it, and plan to purchase it in brown once the price gets marked down. It also comes in Purple Floral, Solid White, *Primrose Pink*, and Orange Plaid. I think it could be a nice, less expensive alternative to the Tuxedo-front Solid Cotton Cami .

The last item of mention (for today) is the Summer Striped Skirt which comes in Brown Stripe and Blue Stripe. This looks SO much better IRL than it does in the online pic...I really wish I would have had time to try it on because I really, really like it. It's definitely on my list of items I would like to have. The weight and fabric are substantial, and it didn't look to be sheer (at least not in the store), either.

I personally think that Gap has a lot of great merchandise...yes, even in the women's section. There were other items I think are also worth mentioning, but they will have to wait until tomorrow.

Do you still shop at Gap? What do you think of the quality and price of their clothing? Are you old enough to even remember the *Fall Into the Gap* slogan?

  1. I tried the skirt on a while ago when it first came out and loved it! I didn't buy it because I knew it would go on sale eventually, and now it is. I'll probably stop in this weekend and see if they still have it in my size. It's a great summer skirt.

  2. I do still love the Gap (and BR) but I'm bummed about their new return policy. They just changed it to 30 days as of April 1. Bummer!

    Cute finds, FFM!

  3. Thanks for the great info on the skirt Angie! Now I'll definitely get one, too! Did you purchase your regular Gap size?

Hi Smarty! It's great to see you post again! I was just thinking about you the other day, and wondering how you are. :)

As for Gap...I'm also bummed at their new return policy! I did find out that it was effective April 1st, so any purchase prior to that date is subject to the old 90 day return policy.

  4. I love all three choices! I have been thinking more about needing a skirt soon. I think I'll go in on Tuesday when it's an additional 10% off for card members. So much for taking a break from shopping! Great finds!

  5. I tried on the floral ruffle tank last week and was pleasantly surprised by it. I plan to buy it in the purple floral when (not if) it goes on sale.

  7. There are definately some great finds at the Gap. Did you see the leather belt with the leather flowers on it? I reminds me of a J.Crew version but much better price. I like the pieces you mention too, so cute!

In general I really don't like their designer lead, Patrick Robinson. I feel like so many of the designs are not feminine and not flattering. There are exceptions though of course and I do still do quite a bit of shopping there. But I wish wish wish they would incorporate more femininity into their women's designs!

  8. I did stop in today and the extra 25% was still in effect. Did not have a chance to try anything on, but I agree with you that there are some very nice items!

  9. Thanks for the chance to write a little blurb about Gap. I shop here as my go to store for jeans. I don't buy much else. I'm in Canada, and we have a fabulous new alternative for basics - Joe Fresh. It's a grocery store brand! So, jeans from Gap, basics at Joe, and extra specials from J Crew.

  10. I used to shop at the GAP all the time, but lately I have not bought much of anything. I tend to find their clothes just too basic...or sized too large. It's a bummer because they used to be one of my favorite retailers... :(

  11. I L-O-V-E Gap clothing! Thanks for this post. I have had my eye on the jacket but haven't seen the skirt yet. I'll have to check it out.

  12. I haven't seen much I've liked at the GAP lately. In the SF flagship they have an all white statement, which is quite beautiful. There is a blouse or dress or two that caught my eye, but not enough to try on.

I love the skirt you posted.

  13. I found the skirt to fit TTS. Although I think Gap clothing in general runs a little bit big.

  14. Thanks everyone for all the input, suggestions, and sizing info! Now that the stripe skirt is on sale I think I'll go for it. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I already received my special Gap Birthday coupon for an extra 25% off which is good online, as well as in the store. That will make the skirt an even better buy, especially since I get free shipping...YAY!!! :)

  15. That jacket is very cute, but looks like it would be much better unbuttoned - esp on the model. Love the skirt, too!!

  16. I love the Gap for jeans and socks!

I did see that jacket IRL and thought it was cute 2!

  17. Yep, I am certainly old enough to remember the Gap slogan!
I love the Gap for basics - tees & turtlenecks. Their bermuda shorts always fit me well and I love their summer skirts (including the one you posted here).
Also, I have to say, the Gap Body lace thongs are pretty darn close to my beloved Hanky Pankys at a much lower price! ;)

  19. I'm still a huge Gap fan. My kids wardrobes include lots of Gap. It still washes well and stands up to rough and tumble kids stuff. I also have many pairs of Gap capris, skirts and tops. I love the new finds...haven't made it in in a while. I have a new baby niece (Abby May...how sweet), and I will surely pick up some soft knits and blankets to keep her snuggly...favorites.

(Thanks for the comment on Rolling Ruffles on my blog)

  20. Are you sure about "As for Gap...I'm also bummed at their new return policy! I did find out that it was effective April 1st, so any purchase prior to that date is subject to the old 90 day return policy."????

I made a Gap Kids purchase as a gift for my daughter on March 26 when the policy was 90 day return / exchange. Earlier this week (which would make it around 40 days), they said they said I could not make the return because their policy changed to 30 day return / exchange. I am very upset.

  21. Good Morning Anon@10:38: That is what the SA at the GAP in Mall at Millenia in Orlando, Florida told me at the very end of March. I was returning a pair of pants I had purchased a couple months prior and commented that they were purchased at the time of the *old* return policy. She said that the new policy was going into effect on April 1st, and that anything purchased prior to that was subject to the old policy. HTH!
