My Unbelievable Encounter: Update

So I thought I would give an update to *My Unbelievable Encounter* post seen here . After numerous calls and many messages left, I finally got in touch with the officer who took my statement at the Supermarket. He told me my case had been turned over to the investigation department, and that I should speak to the lead detective to find out which investigator was handling my case. After two days of calling and leaving messages, I finally heard back from him...this was on the 20th day of May...remember now that the incident happened on May 1st. So he tells me that he hadn't ever received my file or statement...it had gotten *lost* somewhere, somehow between departments. Can you believe that??? Ridiculous, IMHO! Well, he tells me that he will be handing it over to one of his detectives who will be in touch with me. I didn't hear anything back all last week, so this past Monday I called and left another message on his voice mail, and finally heard from the investigator that is now handling the case. He came out yesterday to take pictures of the damage to my Expedition and listen to my account of the incident. He had been to the Liquor Store and found out the biker's first name, plus asked the woman who works there to take down his information the next time he's in, and also try to get his license plate number. This is good news...bad news is that the PD has *misplaced* the videotape that the Supermarket gave them of the guy walking past my car, so the detective is trying to get another copy from them, but says he has enough to charge him with my statement and seems very eager to *catch* him, which is really good. I will be getting an estimate of the damage that he caused so that it can be determined if he will get charged with a felony or a misdemeanor. The investigator also said that he can keep my personal information from the guy so that I don't have to worry about him coming after me. I am in the process of writing a detailed statement against him which the detective will pick up this coming Monday. He was headed back to the Liquor Store this afternoon to see if the clerk has any information for him and in hopes that the biker perhaps might be there. I'll post more as the case progresses. Thank you again for all your comments, kind words, and encouragement on the original post...I truly appreciate all of you! :)

  6. Hi FFM! I am somewhat new to your blog...I started reading right around when this "encounter" happened at the grocery store. It compelety scared me and has caused me to be extra cautious when out shopping...especially when I have my kids with me. What a horrible experience to have to go through...for you and your kids.

On a happier note...I love, love , love your fashions creations. Thank you for sharing them:)

  7. I'm sorry your stuff got lost--UGH! But, on the brighter side, the investigator you're working with now seems definitely on the ball and really working to pursue this case. Sometimes it takes a lot of incompetency to reach someone who is going to handle things and do them the *right* way. I hope the find the tape (I'm sure it will turn up).

  8. Uh, that's so annoying that the PD lost the video! At least, they can charge him just based on your statement. I hope it all works out, what a jerk that guy is!

Holly: Welcome to my blog! I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying it and enjoy reading your comments. It's also nice to hear that sharing my story has encouraged others to be more cautious...that's one of the main reasons I did it. :)

  12. I am happy to hear that you are following up on this and the police have a name. It is a bit upsetting to hear that the supermarket tape got misplaced. Hopefully the case will be resolved soon! :)

  13. I'm so glad to hear this is going toward a positive resolution. Keep on them, but stay detached. You've already had enough upset. I don't know a ton about law so the charge based on damage is very interesting.
