J.Crew *The Podna Brass Band* Tee

So as I was looking at Ebay, I came across *The Podna Brass Band* tee from J.Crew in this listing here , and I was curious as to how many of you have tried this on or purchased it in a J.Crew store. I will say that I did see and try it on when I was in my J.Crew the Friday before last, but didn't purchase it. I thought it was cute, but not for full price, more *on sale cute* to me, personally. Although...this will probably be one of those tees that doesn't make it to sale. I wonder if it's sold out already?

Have you seen the Podna Brass band tee in your J.Crew lately? Did you get the chance to try it on? Did you buy it? Did you happen to see any other retail only tees that you liked? Please share. :)

Also, over on JCA Alexis has a very interesting post about J.Crew's New Consumer: Click Here to read it. So, while on Ebay I also came across this listing and couldn't help but think what Mickey and Jenna's reaction might be to this consumer advertising for them... Click Here . I know what my reaction was: "OH MY GOODNESS, YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! IS THIS PIC REALLY ON EBAY? IS THIS A SWIMSUIT? I CAN'T BELIEVE SOME OF THE PICS ON EBAY NOWADAYS!!!" Thoughts???

  1. I tried on the Podna brass band tee in store. It's really cute. Probably a must-have for NOLA fans. I was impressed with the stitching and beading. But I totally agree with you - for us non-NOLA-ers, it's *on sale cute*. And I love that term, like you used with the confetti necklace - on sale pretty vs. full price pretty. I can't believe the ebay price - $69.50? Seriously???

  2. Oh my gosh! Is that girl only selling the mini?! I have never seen the podna tee.

  3. FYI, the Windsor Locks, CT store has the Podna tee if anyone's trying to hunt it down. I didn't check the sizes since it's not something I'm really interested in, but they had a stack. :)

  4. Ooh, I bought it (when Heidi and the rest of us were out last Saturday) but I may have grabbed the last one in the store.

:) Since Mr. Dina is from SW Mississippi and went to school in NOLA...and we go there at least once or twice a year (have to...it is where we fly into...real hardship...I know) I had to get it.

I am not a NOLA native...more a NOVA native (haha)...but it is basically a second home so I definitely want to celebrate that side of my family. Plus, I have been told I make a mean gumbo...

Maybe for others not NOLA inclined it is a on-sale cute.

Buy wow...nearly 70 on ebay? Yikes!

  5. No. That mini can't be j. crew. That is weird. Maybe one of us should e-mail the seller and ask her if she bought the skirt from a J. Crew store or a J. Crew outlet or on-line at jcrew.com.

There HAS to be a story with that item and seller. I HAVE to send that to my hubby!

  6. scary mini skirt lady! I really don't like items being modeled on ebay, unless it's catalog images. That mini doesn't look JC, but how could you tell, the model is so distracting from the item. Besides strippers don't shop at J.Crew!

  7. Isn't that a swim coverup skirt?
    It's spandex...

  8. That picture totally cracked me up! Totally woke me up from my rainy-Thursday-morning-stupor. :D

I also saw a couple of the Podna tees at the Pentagon City B&M for those interested. :)

  9. Yeah, wow that ebay seller. . . the desc. says its spandex so I'm assuming it must be a "swim skirt" or coverup - must not have the bikini attached.

  10. Ok, I guess I'm in the minority here, but I bought the shirt and love it! I have no connection to NOLA. However, it looks so cute w/ the putty colored shawl cardigan or w/ Khaki pants/shorts...

  11. Oh and I got mine 20% off when my PS let me piggy-back on someone that brought their friends into shop (that special promo that was going on)...

  13. Hello everyone! Thank you for all the comments!

I really thought the tee was very cute IRL, but something about it just didn't look that great on me, personally. I think I look better with either tank tops that have the scoop in the front or shirts that have a collar. I just don't look that great in a crewneck and that's why I tend to wear a scarf with my tees a lot. Congratulations to all of you who did get the tee...I'm sure you are going to look FABULOUS in it! :)

  14. So about the woman in the spandex skirt...I was just in shock when I came across it! I also think it must be a swimsuit or at least a swimsuit cover up. I sent her an email to ask for sure...I'll post if I hear back from her. I am also not a fan of the *modeling* in the Ebay pics, either. I saw another pic the other day of a girl in a J.Crew swimsuit laying on the floor in it with a beachball...sort of disturbing, IMO.

So for more exciting news: I was at my J.Crew this morning and the manager told me that new arrivals will be out in the store next week. These are the brand new arrivals from the next catalog, and not just another shipment of the same stuff already in the store. I personally cannot wait to see what's coming out next! :)

  15. Seeing this rather unusual "model" reminded me of something. I was innocently searching for J.Crew shoes on eBay when I got an unexpected glimpse at an . . . interesting . . . eBay subculture. Evidently some women are able to sell their used shoes to men who are "interested" in shoes. Some of them promise extra photos to the winning bidder. Seach for "trashed" and "shoes" and you'll see what I mean! Yikes. Of course, it does solve the problem of what to do with those shoes that are too worn to donate to Goodwill.

  16. Hexicon, I just looked that up on Ebay and saw exactly what you're talking about...that's just so gross!

  17. I don't see the mini-skirt link/picture. Sounds like the seller must've got the message.

  18. FFM, I actually love the Podna tee, and bought it. I love any tee with beading though, and know I'll wear them under jackets eventually when the weather cools. I haven't seen a replenishment, they went quickly. My PS said the new roll-out is coming on Monday.

As for the 'jcrew girl'.... yeah, that's just nasty.

  19. Oh my! Never saw those images in a J. Crew catalog!

  20. Super cute tee. I saw it in-store, but didn't try it on.

*lol* at the Dirty Blonde Clothing seller. Wooooow.

Hex - I didn't know that. I won't be going to look, as the knowledge alone is fascinating enough.
