LOVE THESE BOOTS!!!

I am in love with these boots from Target, and my love affair began after styling them in a set for one of my clients. They are the Women's Mossimo Supply Co. Katherine Engineer Boot in Dark Tan seen here at Target.com. Even though they are currently not available online, there is a good chance that your local Target store might have them...mine still does. The website has 53 reviews on the boots with a 4.5 star rating and I have to agree with the reviews...the boots are FABULOUS! They retail for $49.99 and the description on the website is as follows:

* Finish Off Your Outfit with these Tall Fashion Boots
* Brown Leather Upper with Thermoplastic Rubber Outsoles
* 1.75" Faux-Stacked Heel
* 10.5"- High Boot Shaft
* Features Slip On Styling with Square Toe
* Brasstone Grommets, Brasstone Rings
* Pull-Loop, Cushioned Insole for Long-Term Comfort, Non-Skid Tread on Toe and Heel

FYI: I sized down 1/2 size.

I think they are a fantastic *less-expensive* alternative to the Frye Belted Harness boot: Click Here

I plan to wear my Katherine boots with this sweater coat from Old Navy, a winter white turtleneck, and either matchstick jeans or my ON weekend jeans. Click Here for the link to the ON Sweater Coat.

So what do you think? Do you already own the Mossimo Katherine Engineer boots? Are you going to check them out? I'd love to hear your thoughts. :)

  1. I love them! Out of curiosity, do you know the circumference of the calf? They look far too narrow for me, but just in case...

  3. Hi roxy! I measured the calf circumference of the size 9.5 (on the inside of the boot) and it is 14.5 inches. I have very muscular calves and these fit with a bit of room to spare. I'd say to definitely give them a try. :) Have a great day!

  13. Awesome find! Do they reach your knee, or are they more like mid-calf boots? Also, how comfy are they? Thanks so much for the tip...I have no Target nearby but may have to get my mom to pick some up for me :)

  14. I hope you're able to find them Suburban Princess! Have fun on your trip! :)

    AppGal: Thanks! :) The boots hit mid-calf and feel very comfortable. I haven't worn them out for the day, but from wearing them around the house they seem like they will be comfy.

  15. I love that ON Sweater Coat - How cozy! I can picture myself all snuggly in that inside a movie theater :)

  16. I tried them on last week and also found they run a 1/2 size large. I didn't get them, but I'm thinking of going back. I have had my eye on them since before they came out. Can't wait to see your polyvore sets. :)

  17. How tall are they? "Tall" boots usually are a no-go for me, since I have stumpy legs (haha!), but I really like the styling on these! Funny you mentioned the Frye harness boots, because that's exactly what they reminded me of!

  18. Joyce posted on these also - last week, I think. I just haven't gotten to a Target to check them out - ugh. And with 1 sick kid home now, who knows when I will go. Ah poor me, I know. :)

  19. GingerSnap: I love the ON Sweater Coat, too. I really hope it's great IRL! :)

    Hi JennyK! Let me know if you go back to get the boots and thanks for stopping by! :)

    amy kelinda: The description on the website says the shaft is 10.5 inches high. They hit me about mid calf, so I'm not sure why they are being called tall boots. HTH! :)

    Hi Heidi! Thanks for stopping by! I'm sorry your kiddo is sick...I sure hope they get to feeling better soon! I didn't see Joyce's post on the boots but thanks for letting me know...I'll have to check it out! :)

  20. I LOVE when you find fashionable items at bargain prices. I'm really trying nowadays to stick to a clothing budget, and J. Crew is killing it! Anyway, let me know how you fare....will you tuck your cords/jeans in the boots?

  21. FFM I love these boots! They look like Fryes!

  22. I love these boots! They also look too narrow for my calves. Even as a thin young girl, my calves didn't fit into my riding boots! I will look for these on Thursday when I pass Target on Thursday, Thanks for the review FFM, I have always wanted Frye boots!

  23. I have them and love them! They fit TTS and are comfortable. I wore them all day Saturday and was just amazed how well cushioned they are too. The original Frye boots are over $200 so this is an affordable alternative. I am tempted to get them in black. I just posted a polyvore with these boots on my blog.

  24. I was wondering if they come in other colors. I see black mentioned- I will take a quick look at my target. I also love the sweater jacket. Thanks FFM

  25. Picked these up today (luckily found my size in my store; there were only a few left), and I agree they're great! Very comfortable and the exact look I wanted. I plan to wear them with most of my dresses, and with tunics and leggings. P.S. Mentioning them in a post tomorrow and crediting you :)

  26. Erin, of Elements of Style blog, did a post on these last Friday. She did a great review and ended up saying she liked them better than the orignial Fryes!

  27. There are similar boots (VERY similar) at Wal Mart for $25. They are the Faded Glory brand. Bought them, love them, they look exactly like these :) HTH

  28. Ohhhhhh, totally into those boots. I'm hitting up Target tomorrow!

  29. Thanks Ursula! I plan to wear my jeans either tucked in, cuffed, and on the outside of the boots. :)

    NoJCrewinJapan: I agree! They are almost exactly like the Frye boots. Thanks for stopping by! :)

    Kathy: Definitely give them a try...let me know what happens. :)

    Joyce: I thought I saw them in black on the website last week (also sold out) but can't find them now. My Target only had the brown. I would definitely consider getting the black if they show up again. Thanks for stopping by! :)

    Hi Woobie! Let me know if you find them. :)

  30. Thank you Stylestance! I'm glad you were able to find the boots, too! :)

    Hi Elizabeth! It sounds like these boots are getting a lot of *press* in the blogosphere. Thanks for stopping by and for the info about Erin's post on the boots. :)

    Laura: Thank you so much for the information about Walmart and their version of the boots. Did you also get brown or do they have black, too?

    Hi Kristin! I hope you find the boots...let me know what you think if you do. :)

  31. I am hoping you can help me out...I have a grey sweater dress that I would like to wear with a medium color (not chocolate but not light) brown suede slouchy boot. What color tights would you pair with that?? Would you do something different during the day vs. night? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  32. I bought brown but they also have black!

  33. I went to one of our Target's today (there are 4 in the area) and there were NONE. I'm so upset! My daughter is sick, and I was home - didn't want to be out too long. If I can check out the other stores, I will, but I think CDP had these on PV a while back - and I never did see them here.

    FFM, I know you will look great in these - and all of you who have found them! Guess I'll keep looking for a while.

  34. FFM,

    Would it be possible for you to do a few sets using the perfect pencil skirt in the dusty blossom color. I am thinking this could be a great neutral (instead of just pink), but can not seem pair it as easily as a dark neutral skirt. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  35. I found them today! I love them and they do fit my large calves. I won't be tucking in my pants, but they aren't choking my leg either. Thanks for the heads up on these boots.

  36. Hi WPMomof2(Jen): I agree that these are awesome and so is Target in general. :)

    Valerie: I would be more than happy to help you! Is there any way you can email me a pic or link of your dress and boots? I'd like to see the colors firsthand. My email is:

  37. Hi LeaderGirl! I'll work on a set or two for the skirt this week and post them here on my blog. :)

    Suzy: I read the reviews on the Target site just now because there were 4 new ones added. Anyways, one of them stated that she called Target online CS and they told her the boots will be available online again in 2 to 6 weeks so keep checking there if you don't find them at any of your stores.

    Kathy: That is FABULOUS news! I'm so glad they fit you! :)
