The J.Crew Stained Glass Cardigan

I finally had the opportunity to see the Stained Glass Cardigan IRL this past Monday at the J.Crew in Tampa. The colors are actually softer IRL than they appear online, and I personally think it is much prettier in person, as well.

The fit is similar to the Watercolor Leopard Cardigan and the Dapple Dot Cardigan, which are also Merino Wool, so if you have either of those I would suggest getting the same size in this one. It currently retails for $88 and is available online and in stores (although I'm sure the quantities are probably getting limited). I styled a couple of sets using the cardigan:
I tried the cardigan on with the Contrast stitch perfect shirt (same fabric/color as the popover) and ivory cords on Monday at the store, and they were lovely together. I love the contrast of the blue against the colors of the stained glass...very pretty. :)

The Outfit:
  • Monet Medium/Large Gold Hoop Earrings purchased at Macy's (not available online), similar here and here.
  • J.Crew Clustered Pearl Necklace, similar here.
  • J.Crew Pearl Ring, similar here and here.
  • Gold Bangles, similar here and here.

The Outfit:

*I think the Stained Glass cardigan can also be paired with Navy Blue, Olive aka *Sycamore* Green, and Light Khaki pants, as well as blue jeans. :)

Do you own the Stained Glass cardigan? Have you seen it IRL? Are you considering purchasing it? Please feel free to comment. :)

Btw, if you missed my earlier post about the GET MORE, SAVE MORE promo at GAP, ON, and BR then click here to check it out. Have a great day!

  1. I wouldn't have thought of getting this at all...but your sets are always magical...making this item seem more appealing! (still not gonna get this one---but pretty, PRETTY SETS!)

  2. i totally agree with yogagirl. I wasn't tempted by this top but your sets make it seem so versatile. By the way, do you find the material of the roses tissue tank (that dark grey one in your 2nd set) to be flimsy? I want to order that tank but read that it stretches and tears easily. Thanks FFM!

  3. Thank you yogagirl and anon@1:39pm! :) I don't have this cardigan either, but was really tempted to bring it home with me after trying it on this past Monday.

anon@1:39: The ruffles and roses tank is very pretty IRL, but it does run large and also *grows*, as most of the items made in that material do. The one I had (that I paid full price for) came apart where the roses and ruffles attached to the tank so I returned it. I haven't heard of anyone else having that issue though. I had planned on trying it again once it went to sale but missed out on my size, unfortunately. It is really lovely on and very pretty under the cardigans with the roses and ruffles *peeking* out. I would definitely recommend sizing down if you decide to go for it. HTH! :)

  4. I liked the look of this but was very glad I saw it IRL before I ordered--it does indeed look softer in person, which I didn't care for. I love JC print cardis and wish that this came in a more vivid version

  5. I LOVE the way you've styled this cardigan. I wish that I could wear yellow because, as you point out, this cardigan is beautiful!!

    Thanks for your blog!!!

  7. I didn't realize it was merino wool (I'd assumed it was cotton), so now I like it even more! I love the graphic print. Some J Crew print cardigans like this seem a little short though. Did you think this one was short at all? Like they come to my waist or just slightly below. I'm 5'6" and pretty normal-waisted.

  8. Hexicon: It is very frustrating that the colors online don't *read* correctly. I really wish they could figure out a way to fix that...

    Thank you rynetta! :)

    Anon: you're welcome! :)

ldc: I am 5'4" and fairly short waisted. This cardigan fits me like the other Merinos do...the bottom hits right at my hip bone, so I would say it runs on the shorter side.

  11. I would have to see this sweater IRL to decide. I don't care for the way it looks online....I think it is a pass for me. I am sure there will be more cardigans coming out and I don't really NEED another JC cardigan:)

I really like these sets though. Wondeful work!
