J.Crew Waterfloral Pastiche Cardigan

J.Crew Waterfloral Pastiche Cardigan . Item #24716: $88

From the J.Crew website: "One of our favorites of the season, with a fetching watercolor  floral print (it reminds us of a work by one of our favorite Impressionist artists—and it's exclusively ours). A wear-with-all piece in seasonless cotton, it's one you'll reach for again and again. Crewneck. Three-quarter sleeves. Hits at hip. Import. Dry clean."

IRL...

What do you think of the Waterfloral Pastiche Cardigan? Are you considering it? Do you already own it? I'd love to hear your thoughts...

*Btw, if the Waterfloral Pastiche cardigan won't work for you, then maybe one of these will. :)

**On another note: If you happen to be participating in the Gap *Give and Get* promotion this weekend, or are simply considering a purchase at Gap, ON, or BR...here are some links to my previous posts that have several of my *pretty picks*, as well as IRL pics of a few of the pieces, too.

  1. I like this one but am waiting for a sale. I find the thin JCrew cotton to not wear well and know it will go on sale eventually. Last spring both my Fresco and deco dot arrived with holes in them! So this year I am waiting for a sale.

  2. I own this pattern in the scarf. I much prefer the pattern as an accent piece rather than an all over pattern on a sweater. Just my 2 cents worth:)

  3. I LOVE this sweater, but I have a similar pink print from last year, so I'm trying to pretend it doesn't exist (at least until it's on sale + 20% off).

  4. I bit the bullet and ordered the Watercolor garden cardigan, it arrives early next week (a couple of days before my move). How did you find the sizing ffm?

  5. I forgot to add the Waterfloral Pastiche is lovely, are you keeping it? It will go with many things.

  7. It was too much for me. I agree with Genny--is a great print but in a small dose. :)

  8. Thanks for sharing this FFM!
I'm not as fond of the cardi...the print is just too bold/bright for my liking. I do love my scarf but it is softer shades. I am very anxious to see the pre-ordered perfect shirt. I like the idea of toning it down with a solid cardi. It's either hit or miss as these prints don't seem to be the same on any one particular item they've made this season. We'll see when it arrives IRL :)

  9. The print is a bit much for me. I may reconsider if it goes on a deep discount, otherwise, it's a pass.

  10. I am so glad you posted IRL picture of this sweater. Thanks. It looks way too bright for me compared to the website. Others mentioned the scarf is softer colors. I have the scarf and love it but have serious doubts now about the sweater. Do I really want it???

  11. Hello Everyone! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your comments. :)

casual-crew: I found the sizing on this one to running *normal*. The XSmall fits me well, just like in the Jackies and Merino print cardigans.

As for me, I actually prefer this cardigan over the scarf, which I really didn't care for at all. I think the bright colors are actually very pretty and make the cardigan very versatile. I can completely understand how it may be too much print for some to wear, but I also know that it will work very well for others.

Have a wonderful rest of the day ladies! :)

  12. This print is *so pretty*! Really, J.Crew does the best prints IMHO, I don't wear prints normally but I almost always love a printed piece from J.Crew.

I think I would really really go for this on a silk cami or dress.

    Lovely!

  13. FFM, I love this printed cardigan. When I found out it was cotton, that's all I needed. I noticed my store had only one XL left, it's going that quickly. The fact that it's cotton leads me to believe it won't make it to deep discount, but who knows for sure. It's beautiful IMO.

  14. CDP: I'm with you .... I'm totally AVOIDING any J.Crew merino from now on! Every time I pull out a J.Crew merino cardigan or sweater to wear I'm almost afraid to look for a new hole or snag. grrr.... it's not worth it at any price!

I love that you can wear this cardi with pretty much any solid color dress or tank ... gorgeous and much more vibrant than the fWatercolor floral cardi in the previous rollout.

  15. I really like this cardigan. And, I really like the pencil skirt that has this pattern too. I just hope that they make the skirt in my size!

  16. I like the pattern in person better than online. I had real doubts w/the online pic. I did a post on this cardi, click here. FFM I love some of the links you shared. Very pretty.

  17. I feel the opposite. The fact that is is thin cotton makes it have holes from my experience. The merino sweaters I have total over 30 and not a single hole. The thin cotton ones--yes.

I like the scarf in this print so much better. The sweater is just too much!

I think it will make it to sale no problems for those who do like it.

  18. I prefer the scarf that I own and have worn a ton. It sold out in minutes online.

The sweater is still there and plenty of them in my size. Will wait for a sale.

I like it better online (looks lighter) than in person (pretty bright) so seeing things differently than some.

  19. I love the saturated, jewel tones of this sweater! Maybe we're so used to the pale grayed lavenders and peaches that Jenna seems to prefer that we've forgotten how color can energize white, khaki and denim! I have the scarf, and like it alot and have paired it with muted shades (esp. dusty shale) But I'm so glad to see the vibrant color of this cardi!

  20. I prefer bright colors and don't wear neutrals but this is a bit too much color all over the place for me!

    I like the scarf/this print--in a smaller dose.

  21. Just an FYI... I tried the Floral Silhouette Cardigan at LOFT. It runs VERY large. I sized down and it was still swimming on me. Cute, though, very cute.

  22. I have mixed feelings about this cardigan. I don't dislike it; it's pretty, but the colors are so bright. I wish they had made the scarf with the cardigan's saturation and the cardigan more translucent. I found the fabric a little too lightweight, at least compared to the Jackies. If it had been thicker, it would have persuaded me.

I would probably go for the skirt (i blogged about it here) over the cardigan.
