Sunday Shopping: Talbots (Including Pics of the Fall 2010 Preview)

Hello Everyone! I hope you're having a fabulous weekend! :) For our Sunday Shopping this week we're going to visit Talbots.

Talbots continues to offer beautiful pieces with gorgeous prints and colors. I know some women have had a hard time with the sizing since Talbots seems to run a bit large, but Desert Flower was told by one of the sales associates that the sizes are being adjusted for fall, with size 0 and XSmall to be added. Such fantastic news! :)

Now let's do some window shopping together...so many pretty pieces to see, and you can receive 20% Off plus Free Shipping with code 021219569 at checkout:

Lounge Paisley Bateau Neck Tee. I love the way they have this paired with the green shorts...so pretty.

*Ruffled Shirt...so pretty and in 6 yummy colors.

*Jeweled Split-Neck Tee, which also comes in a Striped version.

*Beaded Cocktail Jacket. I absolutely love the monochromatic look they have styled for this jacket...gorgeous.

*Desert Bloom Skirt...once again I love the pink/green color combination.

*Desert Bloom Sundress...love the neckline and the color combination on this one.

Look at these cute Ruffled Ribbon Flip Flops that the Preppy Little Dress blogged about here...so pretty! :)

A big THANK YOU to Desert Flower who also let us know that Mariel (who has the blog preppy with a twist) has shared the following images of the Talbots Fall 2010 preview:

And another big THANK YOU to silver_lining who shared the link to the entire Talbots Fall 2010 Lookbook with us. Click here to view it.

What do you think of the pieces currently being offered at Talbots? Are you considering any of them? Already made a purchase? What do you think of the Fall 2010 preview? See anything you like? I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Have a beautiful and blessed day!

xoxo,

  1. I love their fall preview! I'm really hoping their sizing changes actually happen. I see so many pieces I'd buy.

Preppy Little Dress: Thanks so much for stopping by and for mentioning the Ruffled Ribbon flip flops! I added them to the post as well as a link to your blog. :)

  4. I'm starting to really like Talbots clothes! I have to check the sizing but I am quite interested in some pieces. The fall looks incredibly classy. I love J. Crew but... they are getting a little too trendy for me. Having said that, I'm sure my $$ will still go there :)

  5. I am loving the Talbots Fall 2010 offerings, especially that green coat! The top underneath it looks very similar to JC's broadcloth scalloped shell. Here's a link to the full lookbook - can't wait to see some of these in person!

The outfits look more put together in a realistic way, and several of the outfits look like they could be recreated from pieces already in my closet (toothpick jeans, camel coat, trench, pencil skirts, etc.). Hope you all enjoy looking at this as much as I did!

  6. Milljcrew: I feel the same way...I am loving the look of Talbots more than J.Crew lately, but J.Crew still seems to get most of my $$ for some reason.

silver_lining: Thanks for the link...I just added it to the post. :)

  7. Oh I like lots of things in the Fall preview, J Crew has gone very trendy, it's veering towards Topshop nowadays, I'll have to check out Talbots this autumn.

  8. I am really loving Talbots lately - their fall preview is absolutely gorgeous! The SA in my local Talbots told me May items are out this coming week (by the 22nd) and look beautiful. She mentioned lots of pink/green combos. 20% off promo right now. FFM - still love your blog, read it daily, but only comment sporadically when I have the time. Keep up the awesome work!

  9. Tabitha: J.Crew has definitely gone more trendy but hasn't adjusted their prices accordingly. Some of the items they sell really should be at Forever 21 prices, IMO.

Elizabeth and The Mrs.: THANK YOU! :)

  10. I just reviewed the post again, FFM, and I love the items you chose. The dresses kill me. There are literally 1/2 dozen I would buy but they start at size 4 :( I know petites start at lower sizes but that doesn't help a tall girl like me. Crossing my fingers it's better in fall.

  11. I've been drooling over the Talbots Fall Look Book for weeks. It is styled so beautifully-I can relate to every look. The JC Fall Preview looks like one hot trendy, mini-skirted mess to me. I know I'll like some individual items, but as far as I'm concerned, JC isn't the only game in town. I only wish Talbots would update their B&M stores. The store in my area is very dated and unappealing to shop in.

  12. What a coincidence, I read an article about Talbots in the WSJ this week and they featured three pics from the Fall preview that I just LOVED (the leopard coat in particular).
I am tempted to order the cocktail coat for a wedding that I have to attend in two weeks but I know that their clothes run large and I am a 0. How large, any thought/advice anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  13. That is such great news about more sizes being available in the fall!

Fortunately, unlike JC, there is a Talbots B&M near me. Lately, I am almost down to a 0 in JC, which is NUTS, but the 2P pants at Talbots were actually too small. It's the first time I've been happy that something was too small! So, even now I am not completely sized out of Talbots, and come fall with XS in tees and sweaters I should be in good shape.

OTOH, I had been warned that Talbots shoes run narrow, and I just found that to be the case. My first Talbots shoe order arrived yesterday--the pink patent driving mocs. They were indeed too narrow. But guess what? They came in wide! Yes, Talbots shoes, even casual flats, come N, M, and W. I hope the W is more comfortable.

I look forward to hearing more about Tabolts from all of you lovely bloggers.

  15. Ema, I was typing when you posted your question. Unfortunately I didn't try on any coats or dresses, but based on my experience Talbots is not quite as large as JC. For example, I know that I would have been able to button a pair of JC pants in 2P. If you are O in JC and can wear a P it might be worth trying a Talbots 2P, as many of their petite items go down to 2.

  16. I used to shop at Talbots a lot in the 90's. Then I started shopping almost exclusively at JCrew from 2000-8. Now my $ is going to Talbots and Lands's End and LLBean more than JCrew which I cannot believe but JCrew's styling is such a mess/too trendy/layered etc. I love the spring/summer line as well as the fall preview. Thanks for the post!

  17. PS,
Thanks for the post about the shoes coming in narrow. I need narrow shoes and cannot wear any from JCrew. I will have to check out Talbots shoes:)

  18. When does the coupon code expire? Thanks:)

    ReplyDelete
  19. FYI.... I tried to use the code and for the 20% and free shipping and the customer service told me it belonged to another customer and they wouldn't apply it. I ordered some of the bright sateen skirts and they are already backordered in my size :( They remind me of the "old" crew I used to really love!

  20. Desert Flower: I love the dresses, too. One of my favorite is the black and white palm print dress I have as one of my picks. I'm not that tall, so I'm wondering if a petite size will work for me. I wear a petite in the cardigans and shells, but haven't tried the dresses yet.

Julie: My Talbots store needs an update, too. Maybe that will be next in their *makeover*?

The Chic Chauffeur: The cape is one of my favorite items for fall, too. :)

Ema: The Cocktail jacket even comes in a 0P. I think you would probably be able to wear that one. The jacket is so beautiful.

Hexicon: Thank you so much for all the information. :)

Genny: I've been shopping other retailers again lately, as well. There really are a lot of less expensive and better made clothes out there. As for the coupon, I'm not sure when it expires. I found it on the retailmenot website and it doesn't have an expiration noted. There is another one that is just 20% off that expires on 4.26.10, so maybe around then?

Thanks everyone for stopping by today! :)

  21. Hi Milljcrew! The code works when placing an order online. Did the CSR give you free shipping over the phone anyways?

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, The CS was via computer. I will call tomorrow to speak with a human! The shipping was $18.00. That is alot!

  23. Wow, I think I found a new favorite store. I am liking the fall collection. Thanks for sharing

  24. Milljcrew,
I don't think calling and talking to anyone will help. I have seen these Talbots codes on retailmenot before and they do indeed belong to another customer who has shared there personal code. It seems it can be used online without any problems but if you phone an order in you won't be able to use it. This has happened before and I have read about it in the comments section of Talbots on retailmenot.
