"Takin' It to the Max" Part Two: Featuring the J.Crew Chambray Maxi Dress

Part Two of my "Takin' It to the Max" series features a maxi dress currently available at J.Crew.

This is the J.Crew Chambray Maxi Dress available in Papaya and Grey Slate. It retails for $98 and comes in size X-Small to X-Large. The description on the website reads: "A minimalistic design with maximum style. Styled in comfortable cotton chambray, this long, lean dress boasts a flattering V-neck with an adjustable tie at the front (wear it in a bow), an empire waist and racerback detail. Falls to ankle. Import. Machine wash."

IRL:

I am wearing it in Papaya which is very bright and vibrant IRL...much more so than the online picture. I have on the XSmall, and as you can see, it is much longer and a bit more full on me than the model on the website. The description says it's a *lean dress*, but I don't think so. It is fitted at the bust, but flairs out from there. The racerback is cute with pleating detail (shown on the website in one of the alternate views), and the tie front looks nice in a bow, as well. This one is sheer so some form of slip is necessary, unless you are wearing it as a swimsuit cover-up.

Have a beautiful day!

  4. Thanks so much for the IRL post. I am glad to hear that the dress is sheer as I don't wear slips--get to hot--so I will cross this one off my wish list. Looks great on you but wont' work for me.

  5. I loved it, and thought I would purchase one, but it was so sheer and I really don't want to be bothered with a slip....heat, humidity and a slip are not what summer's about lol.

  6. I just saw your comment from part one. I'm sorry to hear about your son, that's horrible! I hope he's feeling better. As for the blessed part, in my 20's yes now running full speed to my 40's and 2 children... not so lucky anymore ;)

  7. Crew Cricket, yogagirl, mrs.anketell, ashley, anon@2:56, Patina, and Angie: THANK YOU!

Anon@2:56 and Patina: The Grey Slate wasn't as sheer as the Papaya. Granted you could still see hints of your outline, but not nearly as much as you can with the Papaya.

Angie: Thank you for the well wishes for my son. He is doing much better now and will get his stitches out next Wednesday. :)

Thank you all for stopping by !:)

  9. I just bought this dress today....it's so much better in person than on the model, and looks fantastic on you! I love the necklaces you're wearing...are they JCrew?

  10. Hi cece! I agree that the dress is so much better IRL. Congrats on getting it! The necklaces are actually just one layered necklace that I got at Ann Taylor awhile ago. I love it! It's sold out online now, but some of the stores may still have it. Here's the website link: Ann Taylor Chain & Jewel Tiered Necklace . HTH! Thanks for stopping by! :)
