*Fabulous Find*

Hello Everyone! I hope your week is going well so far...it's almost the weekend (YAY) so *hang in there*! :) I wanted to share my recent *Fabulous Find* from TJ Maxx with you. (I picked it up on my Birthday weekend when doing a little shopping with my mom and sister.) You see, over the past month or so I have started visiting TJ Maxx and Marshall's again curious to see if my stores had any of the *Familiar Finds* like my anonymous Fabulous Follower had shared in this post and this post, as well as to see what other deals and *familiar* pieces might be found. I did indeed find the Kenar pieces at my Marshall's and must say the resemblances are amazing, and so are the prices. :)

At my TJ Maxx I found several sweaters that actually were from Talbots, a cardigan that looked exactly like the Celosia cardigan from J.Crew, and various tanks with rosette embellishments that strongly resemble the ones being offered at retailers such as J.Crew, Ann Taylor, and LOFT. I also found this cardigan and immediately fell in love:

Look at the little crystal *bling* buttons and sequin detailing...

The sweater is very well-made, feels decadent on, only cost $16.99, and reminds me of the Trastevere Paisley cardigan from J.Crew, except that the TJ Maxx sweater is longer and more fitted. Yes, I know the pattern is a bit different, but the similarity is still there, IMO.

I never cease to be amazed at the deals to be found at stores such as TJ Maxx and Marshall's...granted it is definitely *hit or miss* shopping there, but if you visit regularly you are guaranteed to snag a *Fabulous Find* at an extraordinary price.

Do you shop at TJ Maxx and Marshall's? Have you gotten any good deals there lately? Do you have an *Fabulous Finds* to share? I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Have a beautiful and blessed day!

xoxo,

  1. I am almost exclusively an online shopper, although I do venture into AT, J. Crew, Anthro and Talbots from time to time since they are all within feet of each other. I love clothes, but I really don't like to shop. I rarely go into TJMaxx and Ross, and I guess I should based on the great things people are finding! That sweater is really pretty.

  2. Love it! FFM, was the cardi cotton, wool, or some other fabric? TIA! I want to hunt it down if it's cotton! :)

  3. I love TJ Maxx. I shop there at least twice a month. If you look there are great deals to be had. I love going through the clearance rack in search for $10-$20 items and always surprised to see name brand items, such as Talbots, J Brand, Joe Jeans, etc.

  5. Hi ladies! Thank you all for stopping by! :)

Desert Flower: You should check out TJ Maxx and Marshall's, too. They seem to have the best look-a-likes and even original pieces from the retailers we usually shop at. The prices are SO good, too. :)

ac: Thanks! The cardigan isn't cotton, it's actually 70% Rayon, 15% Nylon, and 15% Spandex, but honestly feels SO nice on...sort of silky on your skin. :)

Sunny: I love the clearance racks, too. Although even the *regular* price racks have amazing deals, too. :)

LaToya: Thanks! Btw, I love the outfits you've put together and shown on your blog. :)

  6. That's such a cute sweater. I'll bet it looks fantastic on you. I haven't been to TJ Maxx or Marshall's in awhile. The commercials are right, though. They have really created "shopportunities" with the great merch they've had, esp in the past year. I leave Ross alone.

  7. Thanks Gigi! The sweater is even better IRL. :) I hear ya on Ross...I don't go, either. Marshall's has been struggling a bit lately but there are still some good pieces at great prices. TJ Maxx is my favorite out of the three of them. Thanks for stopping by! :)

  8. I use the JC catalog mostly for inspiration, then find similar pieces at TJM, Marshalls, Ross (and jewelry at Beall's Outlet). It's amazing how easy it is to find similar or knockoff pieces. I just can't justify the prices of many JC pieces, plus most it is too big for me anyway (also at problem at the discount stores, few XS, no 00, few 0).

  9. I try to hit TJ/Marshalls whenever I am in the city (I visit family about once a month or so). I saw those Kenar pieces last weekend and love the colors much more than the reg JC. Unfortunately they didn't fit me. I did score a great current season CK top. I love shopping so I don't mind hunting through the racks.

There is also good home stuff to be found, esp. at Marshalls.

Like anon, I try to look for JC styles elsewhere - both due to price and also due to fit. JC doesn't fit a big chest so well.

And FFM, thanks to you I tried on the DB tunics at Kohl's yesterday. I had always loved the Tory Burch-ness of them but they looked so long. (I'm 5'3") They were pretty flattering. I'm considering the purple sleevles linen maderin collar one. Thank you!

  10. Hi anon@:10:09 and Shari! I think it's so fun to re-create looks with less expensive pieces. I also love to shop and could literally spend hours combing through the racks...it's very relaxing to me. :)

Shari: YAY on the DB tunic! Did you see my post yesterday with the pic of me in the sleeveless floral tunic? I think it's the one you're contemplating. I love it. :)

  11. LUVE MARSHALL'S and TJ's! It's soo fun to go there and explore--from the clothes to the home goods--I don't know how Pier 1 stays in business with Marshall's and TJ's?!
I was in Marshall's and there was an EXACT--and I don't mean a look-a-like--I mean exact replica of J. Crew's EVIE top! I had no camera with me though! ((

  12. The cardigan looks great! I really like the touch of orange and black for contrast. It looks fab. with the green. Hmm, I'll have to look for that cardigan. I also agree with anon who uses the catalogs as inspiration to find similar items elsewhere for less. That's what I always did in college when I had a few spare dollars for clothing. I also used Vogue magazines as guides as to what was new out there. Honestly, sometimes I think I get a tad too focused on J Crew and feel like I have to have this and that and that, etc. Really, I should step back, take the blinders off and return to the creative college self. Sometimes it's easier just to click away on a single website and be done, but I too, relax when I window shop or check out other offerings. Hubby can't comprehend I'd rather go to the stores and check things out rather than watch a mediocre movie at the theatre my myself when he gives me mommy time. Thanks for the post!

  13. I just found a TJ Maxx in my area and now I am inspired to shop there! Thanks!

  14. The sweater is really pretty... What a fabulous find!
I went to marshalls for the first time last month.I think the stores ambiance effects my mood to a great extent. I just couldnt get into my "shopping mode" at marshalls. However I did find two amazing tops from CK both under $10 bucks.

  15. love that cardigan! My TJ Maxx and Marshalls are both so junky I can't stand to go! But I love my one Ross and that's where I find many treasures!! The shirt I'm wearing on my OOTD today is from Ross. I can't tell you how many deals I've gotten there over and over! Even great kitchen stuff - I got a $200 calphalon pan for $13!!

  16. yogagirl: I KNOW you love these stores, and I truly enjoy seeing your posts on the treasures you have found there. :)

CMG: Thanks! The cardigan actually doesn't have black in it, it's a dark olive green, that really compliments the bright orange, green, and white really well. :) Remember the show The Look For Less where they had an allotted amount of money to re-create a designer look? I always wanted to be on there because I know I would do a really great job, and it sounds as if you would, too. :) I also completely understand what you're saying about having the blinders on, especially when it comes to J.Crew. Honestly, when I see the prices at stores such as TJ Maxx I wonder why in the world I ever pay as much as I do for some of the pieces I buy from J.Crew. I'm becoming a lot more discerning with my shopping there and trying to only pick up unique pieces I know I won't be able to find anywhere else.

  17. Dana: Definitely give TJ Maxx a try. It can take a little bit more time to shop, but the money saved is worth it in the end. :)

missmasala: Thanks! I know what you're saying about Marshall's. The layout of the one near me feels rather chaotic and crowded. They could really use a revamp of the entire store. TJ Maxx isn't as hectic, so maybe give them a try? Congrats on your great CK deals!

Peggy: Thank you! :) My Ross used to be really nice, but it's the junky store now. I've found a lot of great deals there over the years though. They have reasonably priced maternity wear, and I picked up numerous pieces during my pregnancies. The TJ Maxx that went in up the road from me in nice and new, so it's really enjoyable to shop at. :)

  18. I have a TJ Maxx in the same shopping center as my grocery store. I go in there ALL the time and you can find some good stuff if you keep your eye out. Now I want to find that sweater...SO cute!

So I ordered the Dana Buchman sleeveless tunic and the Vera Wang tank (haven't arrived yet) and today I went to JC in search of the vintage bateau shirt in camel which was gone but got a very similar top with gold metallic stripes instead. Love it! Thanks for the inspiration

  19. That is REALLY a fabulous find, FFM! I almost never go into TJMaxx/Marshalls anymore because it is so hit-or-miss. I would go for that cardi - I wish you could search their inventory!

ps, I thought of you when I bought this dress last week:
    http://tinyurl.com/2bwovqz
I am not nearly as small as you, but I have felt ridiculous and overwhelmed in the other maxi dresses I've tried. But seeing you look so fabulous made me try it on, and it worked! (And it's washable :)

  20. That's a GORGEOUS sweater - I never would have guessed you bought it at TJ Maxx! I haven't been to a TJ Maxx or Marshall's in ages - mostly because I feel like it takes a lot of time to shop there.

    Congrats on the score!

  21. Katie: Thanks! Let me know what you think of your DB tunic when it arrives. I also ordered the Vera Wang tank and should receive it next week...can't wait. :) Congrats on all your purchases and thanks for stopping by! :)

  22. mommydearest: I LOVE that maxi dress and almost bought it myself a few weeks ago, but hesitated (since I had already purchased a couple others), and now it is sold out in my size. It is SO pretty IRL, and I'm sure it looks fabulous on you! :)

  23. Michelle: THANK YOU! Yes, it does take some time to shop at stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall's, but most of the time you find really great deals which makes it completely worth it. :)

  24. Dear FFM:
could you let me know the manufacturer of the amazing cardi?
I was in both TJ Maxx and Marshall's today trying to find it......in vain :(
I will continue the quest, though!!!
    thanks!

  25. Hi Pebbles! Here's the information from the tags: The cardigan is made by PIERRI New York and the style # is 698. The numbers from the TJ Maxx price tag are: 05-0222-607745-001699-03-2 and the price is $16.99. It was in the misses section...I think in where the blouses and shirts were, even though it's a cardigan. I would check all the Misses/Women's racks with the shirts, blouses, cardigans, etc. for it. Good luck! Let me know if I can be of any other help! :)
