J.Crew: August 2008

Hello Everyone! I hope you're having a great day so far! I'm changing things up a bit again this week, and instead of the normal Tuesday *You Look Very Familiar...Have I Seen You Some Place Before?" post, I've scanned some more images from one of the older J.Crew catalogs to share with you. These pics are some of the highlights from the August 2008 catalog...hope you enjoy them! :)

(FYI: After you click on the play button, if you click on the arrows at the bottom right you can view the video in full-screen. I apologize for the crinkles on the pages...my catalogs have seen a lot of use over the years and it shows.)

This was one of my favorite rollouts, and I actually own/have owned many of the pieces in the catalog. The colors were amazing, the prints were gorgeous, the models actually brushed their hair and smiled every now and then, too...{sigh} I miss those days...

Do you remember this catalog? Do you own anything from it? I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Have a beautiful and blessed day!

xoxo,

  1. Oh yes I remember this catalog. Likewise, I own 7 or 8 pieces from that rollout. :) And all of them are still going strong. Thanks for the peek back in time!!

  2. This was clearly one of my favorites too, FFM, because I own half of it. I have the serengeti tank, metallic cloque skirt, sparkle tweed skirt, all the Belle skirts, the Madison dress in both colors, the black bubble necklace, several Tartine cardigans, the Lulu pumps in all colors, the list goes on and on! Almost everything in that catalogue was work appropriate for me and I loved the colors! Interesting to me that so much of this is still in my active closet rotation.

  5. ITA with Desert Flower--I own tons from this catalog because so much of it is work-appropriate. (My office is business casual part of the time, but I always shop for items that are versatile and can be dressed up for a traditional office environment.)

July 2008 was when I became a JCA--amazing how my purchases ramped up when my JCA friends encouraged me to try different things! So many great suiting dresses that fall--I bought four! Plus Tartine cardis, Alessia shoes, great colors for cords.

  8. I really wish I had shopped more that year! The colors were so great... le sigh.
I spotted my patent green clutch that I still use all of the time! I also purchased the short navy wool belted trench, but purchased my "old" Jcrew size: a 4. It never fit me properly and I finally sold it.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

  10. Thanks for sharing! This is the JC that I fell in love with, but at the time, my work wardrobe had no need of such dressy/pretty things...

And now that I can justify such things, I can't find them!

  13. Thanks so much for posting this catalogue FFM! I own a lot of the pieces shown too, but sadly not the catalogue. And like others, this was the J.Crew I fell in love with too.

  15. Ooh, I agree! I actually remember buying entire outfits out of those catalogs because they were just so darn perfect.

I actually kept this catalog (and the October '08 catalog) and still occasionally draw inspiration from them. Goes to show what a bit of good styling (and uh, hair brushing) can do!

Ya listening, J Crew? *taps foot impatiently*

  16. Thank you ladies all so much for stopping by to share your memories of the catalog. This time period was just before the Maggie jacket, Victoria Cami and L/S shirt, Berry-Trim Astrid, Astrid Boucle' aka *Droopy Flower Jacket, as well as many other beautiful pieces came out. I still own all of those items, as well as the Lucille Jacket and Serengeti belt in this catalog. There were numerous other pieces I owned that I sadly let go after losing weight. Funny, I never envisioned that J.Crew would go in different direction, otherwise I would have kept them and tried to have them altered to still fit.

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by and share!

    Have a wonderful evening! :)
