Love This...

I fell in love with this entire look after seeing it last month in the Holiday Look Book from Talbots. How absolutely chic, elegant, and feminine...

The ensemble consists of the Long Ruffle Skirt, Wrinkle- Resistant Blouse in Black, and Stamped Leather Belt in Black Python. Love. Love. Love.

  4. JulieStyles: I would absolutely love to have this entire look, and would purchase it in a heartbeat if I had a ball to go to like WMM, or a fancy party to attend.

  5. My catalog arrived on Friday and that was the one outfit that I thought was so elegant. I'm trying to find an event to wear it to! Love, love, love!

  6. Me too. I am also interested in the black silk rosette skirt. Thinking white tee and denim jacket, plus some boots-could be fun!

  8. Well, I cannot wait to see the skirt in real life. I also ordered the faux-fur pull through and am seriously crushing on the black satin ankle pants... sigh....But I had already ordered the bow peep toe with a credit I had from talbots, so was quite stuck for cash as I did drink some crewlade this weekend on the 30% OFF....

  9. I've seen the wrinkle resistant blouse & it's nice in the wine color. Haven't tried it on, though. I also love the skirt. Divine! Can't we just buy it to wear around the house? *lol*

  13. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!

A few years ago (2005??), I purchased an ankle length black wool tuxedo skirt from J Crew. It looks absolutely fabulous with white blouses, a black cashmere tee and other tops. I may have to wait for this skirt to go on sale and buy as the pleats are gorgeous. It makes me think of Spanish flamenco dancers and Carolina Herrera designs.

  14. This look is so incredible. I saw it yesterday on their site. I die, it's so gorgeous.

FFM, is that avatar the new hair?

  15. Thanks for all the comments ladies! It looks like great minds really DO think alike! :)

I know I could probably wear the skirt to church, so that gives me one place. Out to dinner is another possibility (depending on the restaurant). I keep trying to imagine myself walking the aisles of Target in the skirt and a white tee...wouldn't it be great if it could be worn casually like that? I really need to see it IRL! WMM, please let us know what you think once your skirt arrives.

  16. Desert Flower: No, I haven't taken a picture with my new haircut yet. I'm still trying to figure out just how I want to style it on a regular basis and get *used* to it. The pic in the avatar is from awhile ago...probably earlier this year.

  18. Also, did you hear that Julianne Moore is the new face of Talbots for Spring 2011? Sophie blogged about it here on the Red Chair Confessions blog.

  19. FFM - That bag is stunning. I've been obsessing about that outfit all weekend. I need another Talbot's promo. How fun to wear this for Holiday dinner (Christmas eve church in my case) and for NYE? I love the idea of wearing it to Target. Cannot wait to see IRL.

  20. Oh, love the bag and love Julianne Moore! I see a lot more Talbots in my future...

How fun to wear that skirt to Target? For NYE, perfection.

  23. I saw something about Julianne Moore and Talbots on a blog, then I saw that Sophie also mentioned it on Red Chair Confessions. That is quite a coup. She will be great for their image. Now I can't wait to see the clothes!

  24. Hey ladies! I wanted to let you know that I had the opportunity to try on the skirt at my Talbots today. They had only gotten in one so far and it was a size 2 which was on the mannequin. They removed it for me to try and while so very, very pretty...it was too big in the waist area by 1.5 inches or so. It was floor-length on me without heels, so it wouldn't reach the floor unless I wore flats. This means that the 2 petite or 0 petite won't work for me, either, as they would be too short. I also tried on one of the jackets I've been longing for and the size 2 was too big in it, too. I really wish they would make a size 0 that isn't a petite.

I'm at least glad I was able to try it so I can stop obsessing over it now. Congratulations to all of you who it works for and are able to get it. It is really beautiful and *flows* when you walk (or dance). :) They should start arriving in the stores this week if anyone else wants to go to their store and try it on.

  25. thanks for the review. how tall are you (for reference)? also, did you take pictures?

  26. Lizzy T: I actually remembered my camera this time but when I went to take a pic the battery was dead. I was so annoyed about it, too. Sorry!

For reference, I am 5'4"...however, I am short-waisted and my inseam is 31 inches, so I always wear a longer pant/jean/skirt. The regular length skirt is 42 inches according to the website, and the petite is 37.5 inches. For someone with a shorter inseam the regular length skirt may be a bit longer on them.
