  1. My husband makes the pumpkin version of this every Thanksgiving and it is a huge hit. We haven't had pumpkin pie for 4 or 5 years. We definitely have to try the chocolate. It looks delicious FFM!

  2. This looks so good and easy to make too! Thanks for the recipe. Is this a variation of the famous St. Louis Gooey Butter cake? I was just there visiting family, it's a must have when in STL!

  3. Desert Flower: The pumpkin version sounds wonderful! I'm going to try that one, too. :)

Andi: I'm not sure if it's a variation of the St. Louis butter cake, but it probably could be. I know there are many versions of gooey cake out there and they all sound delicious.

Thanks for stopping by ladies! :)

  4. I was just going to comment on how this is a welcome improvement to the St. Louis gooey butter cake! (I grew up there and visit frequently). Add chocolate? Get outta town!

We're on the sweets wagon right now in the kvetch household but I will file this away for an appropriate occasion!

p.s. and when in St. Louis the gooey butter cake at Kaldi's coffee house is TDF

  5. Shari: This version really is decadent. It honestly is so sweet that it can make your teeth hurt, but so delicious that it's quite addictive. I am also trying to avoid sweets right now, but will definitely be making this one at Christmas. Thanks for stopping by! :)

  7. Anon@3:32pm: I'm so glad you'll be able to use this one and that your family will love it. I found the pumpkin version from Paula Deen online. Not sure if it's the same one that Desert Flower's DH makes, but think it's worth a try at least. :) Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake
