Target Promotion: 15% Off Today Only

Hey Everyone! I wanted to let you know that Target is once again offering 15% off on clothing purchases with code TCEES2DO at checkout. (A lot of the merchandise on the website qualifies for FREE SHIPPING on orders of $50+, too.) The offer expires today though, so shop quickly if you plan to take advantage of it.
I've posted some of my picks from Target on previous occasions, so a handful of these will be a recap and others are new items that have been added to the website recently. :)

First up is the Merona® Elbow Sleeve Shirtdress, which I purchased back in June and blogged about at that time. I bought it in Black, size XSmall and absolutely love it! It is extremely comfortable to wear, and I really think it looks and feels more expensive than $25.

Here it is on me:

This is how I wore it on 6.12.10 for our trip over to the beach:

6.12.10Fashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

IRL:

The Details:

The Merona® Shirtdress also comes in a color called LT OD, which is an olive/*army* green IRL. There is also a Shirred-Waist Shirtdress in Brown (aka Khaki), as well as Brown Dot. I'm not sure why these colors have a different name, but from the online pic and description they appear to be the same as the Elbow Sleeve Shirtdress.

(In the picture above, I removed the black tie-belt that came with the dress and replaced it with my J.Crew Roughed-Out Leather Belt, similar here and here.)

*Converse® One Star® Bengal Stripe Dress in Blue and Antique Grey.

*Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Scallop Hem Dress.

*Merona® Collection Tracy Embellished Top
This one also come in the color Lush Moss

*Merona® Sundress in Ebony Print. This one also comes in a Blue Print as well as Plum and Pond Green

*Mossimo® Black Crossover Empire Dress in Navy. It also comes in Ebony, Aqua, Purple, and Spanish Brown.

***Merona® Collection Kendall Embroidered Dress which retails for $39.99.

Here it is on me in size 2:

As with most items at Target, this dress is so much prettier IRL than it is on the Target website. I love the color...Black and White together just happens to be one of my favorite color combinations. The dress is cotton and the weight of it is substantial, yet the fabric still feels soft to the touch, making the dress comfortable to wear. The embroidery is absolutely lovely, and the dress is completely lined, as well. This one can easily be dressed up with heels, or worn more casually with flats...another perfect little dress for summer.

*Merona® Women's 3/4 Sleeve Flower Cardigan Sweater in Lilac. It also comes in Yellow and

*Mossimo® Black Striped Boyfriend Cardigan which comes in Navy/White Combo and Oatmeal/White Combo

*Mossimo® Black Long Sleeve Large Checked Shirt which comes in small and large checks.

*Mossimo® Black Bermuda Short
*Merona® Denim Jacket

***The Mossimo® Black Kimono Sleeve Maxi Dress retails for $24.99 and comes in sizes XSmall-XLarge. The colors on this one are black, Heather Grey, Turquoise, Yellow, Green, Teal,
Charcoal, and Paprika

Here it is on me in the XSmall:
I love this one...so comfy and casually chic. I fell in love with the Lemlem® Lucy patio dress the moment I saw it but just didn't love the price, so this is my less-expensive alternative. The fabric is incredibly soft and the overall silhouette of the dress is flattering to all body types.

*Merona® CollectionTiffany Knit Top
This one also comes in the color Dynamo Violet .

Happy Shopping!

*Fabulous Find Friday* {Part Two}

While looking through the Talbots August catalog, the High-Ridge Twill Jacket caught my eye, but unfortunately it is a bit out of my price-range right now.

Well, imagine my delight when I came across this jacket from Chaps while browsing the Kohl's website last week:

At the time they also had the size 4 available, so that's what I ordered and it fits like a dream (for reference, I wear a size 2 in J.Crew and Gap jackets). The jacket is black (not navy like the Talbots one), very nice IRL, fully lined, and well-made. It also has 4 decorative buttons on the bottom of each sleeve that you can't see in the online product photo. It's definitely worth checking your local Kohl's if you're interested in it (and size 10 isn't your size).

The decorative buttons:

Have a great day

*Fabulous Find Friday*

Hello my dear readers! I hope you're having a great day and looking forward to a fun-filled weekend. :) Today is the first post in a new segment called *Fabulous Find Friday*, which will showcase products that a) I have tried and highly recommend, or b) I have come across amazing deals on and want to share with you.

Today's *Fabulous Find* is the Cole Haan Air Ashton Sandal for $59.99:

I haven't personally tried this one, but do think it looks like an excellent alternative to the J.Crew Elodie Vachetta Stacked-Heel Sandal, which is no longer available on the J.Crew website. :)

Have a beautiful and blessed day!

The Details:

*J.Crew Tissue Boyfriend V-Neck Tee, similar here and here

*J.Crew Linen Beach Short, similar here and here

*Pave' Stud Earrings (birthday gift from my parents) , similar here and here.

*Pave' Necklace (also a birthday present from my parents that came as a set with the earrings above). This necklace is very similar, except the pendant is a heart instead of a barrel.*J.Crew Small Crystal Colletto Bracelet, similar here and here.

*J.Crew Larget Metallic Gallery Hobo, similar here and here.

* My sandals were purchased at LOFT last year on super sale. They are the Serena Mini-stud Sandals in Gold, but I also own them in Black with Gold Mini-studs and White with Gold Mini-studs. They are so incredibly comfortable and another great purchase...CPW must be in the negative amount by now.  I'm not sure if you could find them on Ebay, but this pair (in Gold) and this pair (also in Gold) may work as an alternative for you

Have a beautiful and blessed day! :)

A is for A-Line Dress

Hello my dear readers! I hope you are having an absolutely FABULOUS week so far! Today I am sharing an excerpt from a book I received as a gift last year. It's The One Hundred by Nina Garcia..."A Guide To The Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own." It shares the A-Z staples each woman should have in her wardrobe, and today we are starting with A. :)

A is for A-Line Dress:
Nina Garcia writes:

"A TRUE A-LINE is narrower on the top and flares out gently toward the bottom, resembling the letter A, thus the name. Here's the deal with the A-line dress: It will work for you on your best day. It will work for you on your worst day. It will work when you don't know what to wear, for all occasions, and in all kinds of weather. And no matter what, it will flatter your figure. That is really a lot for a fashion item to give you. Yet, it demands so little in return, just a few bold accessories, a great pair of shoes, and maybe a pair of tights, depending on the time of year. But that's it. It is a no-fuss dress and perhaps that is why it was the must-have dress of the '60's, when fun and free-spiritedness was favored over the formality and structure of the prior decade. Every '60s "It" girl had an arsenal of these dresses in her closet- Twiggy, Penelope Tree, Edie Sedgwick, Mary Quant, Jean Shrimpton. These were the Kate Mosses of the day. If you do a Google image search of these women, a picture of them in an A-line will always come up on the first page. They are often wearing a bold print or a bright-colored A-line with boots or flats. Their accessories are always amazing. This became the unofficial uniform of the 1960s, and the reason this dress should still be in every girl's closet today is because it is so damn flattering. Eat, ladies, for we always have the A-line.

With a good A-line, the fabric flows over perceived flaws or imperfections. No matter the day, the season, or the year, the A-line dress will always make you look and feel fashionable, fabulous, and perfectly capable of keeping up with Twiggy and her crew.

 GET IN LINE

*It is advisable to always have a black A-line in your repertoire as a "just in case" dress. As in: just in case you are invited to a dinner party or out on an impromptu date and only have five minutes to get ready.
*The dress is perfect to wear in the summer with Sandals (#75) or in the winter with Knee Boots (#45). A dress for all seasons, indeed.
*For a great contrast, wear a white A-line with your Black Opaque Tights (see #10). The look is always youthful and playful.
*If you want to really be daring, wear a bright-colored A-line with a bright-colored tight, like a true '60s mod girl."
Fashion 101 - Type A

"Christian Dior created the A-line dress in 1955, a style he had adapted from Cristobal Balenciaga's more extreme trapeze dress. Dior cut off a lot of the excess fabric from the sides and created a silhouette that was more streamlined, but still fit loose on the body. In the 1950s, women were used to wearing tighter, waist-accentuating designs, and the A-line was anything but. At first, women rejected this new style of dress, its shape, its informality. They hadn't been dieting for nothing! But in the '60s, when girls were eager to be freed from the constraints of all of those waist-conscious designs, the A-line started to take off. When women like Twiggy and Jackie O became fans, it was all the celebrity endorsement the A-line needed to secure its reputation in the annals of fashion history."

"The fashionable woman wears clothes. The clothes don't wear her." -- Mary Quant

(All the information above is from the book)

A handful of A-lines:

J.Crew: August 2008

Hello Everyone! I hope you're having a great day so far! I'm changing things up a bit again this week, and instead of the normal Tuesday *You Look Very Familiar...Have I Seen You Some Place Before?" post, I've scanned some more images from one of the older J.Crew catalogs to share with you. These pics are some of the highlights from the August 2008 catalog...hope you enjoy them! :)

(FYI: After you click on the play button, if you click on the arrows at the bottom right you can view the video in full-screen. I apologize for the crinkles on the pages...my catalogs have seen a lot of use over the years and it shows.)

This was one of my favorite rollouts, and I actually own/have owned many of the pieces in the catalog. The colors were amazing, the prints were gorgeous, the models actually brushed their hair and smiled every now and then, too...{sigh} I miss those days...

Do you remember this catalog? Do you own anything from it? I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Have a beautiful and blessed day!

For All The *Mommies To Be*: Summer Edition

Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that your week is off to a good start! I recently received an email from Beth (one of my Fabulous Followers), asking for some fashion/styling advice. Beth recently found out she is pregnant (YAY and CONGRATULATIONS Beth!), but wants to keep looking fashionable and fabulous as her tummy grows. I do think it is possible for expectant mothers to remain stylish during their pregnancy, and I also think that doing so helps them feel good about themselves as their bodies change and grow larger. I actually wrote a post last September for all the *Mommies To Be* (click here to read it) that showcased some outfits for cooler temperatures, but since it is summer (and Beth lives in California where the temperatures will remain warm until November), I styled a few more sets for the *Mommies To Be* showing warmer weather outfit ideas.

As I said in my post last September, I find it most beneficial to stick with a basic/neutral color scheme when considering maternity clothing and then accessorize with fabulous scarves, jewelry, handbags, and shoes. This way you won't have to make a huge investment in maternity clothes and you can still wear the accessories long after you lose the *baby weight*. It is also possible to simply purchase larger sizes of non-maternity clothing to wear, but I personally prefer actual maternity clothing since it is designed specifically for an expectant mother's changing figure. There are numerous clothing lines that have fabulous maternity clothing that is affordable such as Old Navy, Liz Lange for Target, LOFT, and Gap...even Spanx has a maternity collection. :)

The sets I've styled for this post feature maternity clothing from the Old Navy website. They have tons of cute maternity clothing at affordable prices, and right now you can even receive 30% off your purchase with code SAVE30 at checkout, plus FREE SHIPPING on orders of $100+ (the offer is good today and tomorrow on all Old Navy merchandise, not just Maternity).

*Mommy To Be* Look One:

The Details:
*Old Navy Maternity Ruffle-Trim Jersey Top
*Old Navy Maternity Low-Rise Twill Bermudas (12") in *Chain Mail*. How cute are these? Definitely a great staple piece in the mommy to be wardrobe and can be worn with just about any style/color of top. They'll see a lot of use, and CPW (Cost Per Wear) will end up being minimal.
*Silver Hoop Earrings, similar here and here
*Silver Bangles/Bracelets, similar here and here
*Ann Taylor Diamond Temple Sunglasses in *Black*, similar here
*Ann Taylor Printed Canvas Tassel Tote (Free Shipping at AT until 7.30.10)
*Land's End CANVAS Leather Flip Flops , similar here at GAP (Code SAVE30 works for 30% off on the Gap sandals, too)

*Mommy To Be* Look Two:

The Details:
*Old Navy Maternity Lightweight Smocked Cut-Out Top
*Old Navy Maternity Low-Rise Perfect Khaki Capris in *Sandlot*. These are a great staple in a mommy to be wardrobe. They can be worn with any top and will get a lot of use, so CPW will be minimal.
*Old Navy Maternity Cropped Denim Jacket . This also comes in *Dark Wash* which would also work with this look. Wearing the jacket is of course optional, but it would be a great transition piece as the weather starts to turn slightly cooler in October and November. I had an ON Maternity Denim jacket for my last 2 pregnancies and absolutely loved it. This is a great staple to have in your maternity wardrobe, and I highly recommend getting one if possible.
*Anthropologie Unpredictable Prisms Earrings in Blue (Free Shipping at Anthro through Labor Day when you link your Anthro card to your account. (If you haven't already linked your Anthro card click here. If you don't yet have a card, you can sign up here to get one.)
*J.Crew Small Crystal Colletto Bracelet, similar here
*Lands' End Canvas Summer Sandals in *Light Indigo*
*Old Navy Canvas Bucket Bag in *Tan*

*Mommy To Be* Look Three:

The Details:

*Old Navy Maternity Tie-Front Jersey Dress. This is so adorable AND it has a 5 star review rating on the ON website. What a great way to stay cool and comfortable, yet polished and *put together* during the hot summer months.
*Old Navy Maternity Lightweight Button-Front Cardigan in *Blue Print*. This is also an optional piece, but I find it's always a great idea to carry a cardigan or jacket even in the summer since most buildings have the A/C cranking and it can be quite chilly indoors. A denim jacket like the one in the previous set could easily be substituted in place of the cardigan.
*Anthropolgie Follies Hoops Earrings in Blue. These are sold out online, but may still be available in the stores. The Unpredictable Prisms earrings in the previous set could also work with this outfit, as well as these or a simple pair of yellow gold hoops .
*Kenneth Jay Lane Champs-Elysees 8-3/4" Bracelet . I own this one and love it. It's large but not heavy...a definite statement piece.
* Clear Bubble Bib Necklace , similar here
*Jack Rogers Navajo Sandals in Gold, similar here *J.Crew Large Gold Metallic Thompson Tote, similar here and here

Following these styling examples, it should be fairly easy to create similar looks with any other maternity clothing purchase. :)

Here are some other cute *Mommy To Be* pieces to consider:

*Wrap Elbow Top
*Sleeveless Tie-Shoulder Tank
*Maternity Cap-Sleeve Shirred Fashion Top
*Maternity Knit Smocked Top (Free Shipping/No Minimum on any purchase)
*Halter Maxi Dress
*Vintage Boyfriend Cardigan
*Low-rise Denim Pencil Skirt
*Real-Waist Flap-Pocket Trouser Jeans
*Long Layering Cami. These are a must have purchase...great for wearing under cardigans, denim jacket, or simply by themselves. They are also comfortable to sleep in and can be worn after you have the baby, as well.

I also want to say CONGRATULATIONS to all of the other *Mommies To Be* out there! I wish you all the best and hope you are able to enjoy this very special time in your life! :)

Have a beautiful and blessed day! :)

Sunday Shopping: J.Crew New Arrivals

Hello Everyone! This week's Sunday Shopping is about NEW ARRIVALS. They are pretty much everywhere right now, aren't they? It seems that most retailers are introducing a lot of their fall pieces even though the temperatures in most regions are in the 90's or higher. If you look at the different retailers, you'll see plenty of blazers, tweed, and even boots, but fortunately they have also included some pieces that can be worn now and then transitioned into fall.

Living in Florida our warm weather extends into November (sometimes beyond), so I try to hold off on making too many *cold weather purchases* until closer to that time. However, I do enjoy looking at the fall apparel and envisioning all the great outfits I could wear in my *imaginary* life where I live in a place that actually has 4 seasons. ;) I know that many of you do actually reside in such places and it won't be too much longer before you will actually be able to wear the beautiful pieces being offered, and for this reason today I'm going to share some of my personal favorites from J.Crew with you. :)

Sadly, I don't have as many favorites as I used to with each rollout, but there ARE a handful of pieces this time that have caught my eye.

The Khloe jacquard cami which comes in Cobblestone (shown in the pic above) and Blush Stone, size 0-12. I love the neckline and print on the cami. I envision it worn under a Blazer with either jeans and boots, or a great pencil skirt.

The Novo-stripe wrap top is actually perfect for wearing right now in the warmer weather. As you know, I love stripes and this top is a nice change from the *normal* horizontal tees and shirts currently being offered just about everywhere. Once fall and the cooler weather arrives, this one can be worn under blazers or possibly over a button-down shirt or turtleneck.

Shimmer tweed Ruby jacket. This is a collection piece priced at $325, and while that is out of my price range, I am such a sucker for little jackets and tweed that this one is being added to my wishlist in hopes of eventually snagging it on sale. I think it would be adorable worn over a blouse with some wide-leg pants, or with a tee and jeans...lots of possibilities on this one.

The Double-serge pencil skirt in Bronzed Ochre. I missed out on this color last time around and don't plan to miss out again...just hope the fit on this year's skirt is as good as last year. The waistband is thinner on the current version, but I'm hoping it's not going to make much of a difference. The pencil skirt is such a great piece to have as a staple in your wardrobe. It can be dressed up with heels, dressed down with flats or sandals, and in the fall/winter it looks fantastic with tights and knee boots. The colors that J.Crew offers it in are beautiful, as well.

The Northern lights necklace looks as if it will add just the right amount of sparkle without being too *over the top*, plus I like the shorter length, since you'll actually be able to see the necklace when wearing a button-down shirt (without having to wear it outside of the collar).

The Exhibitor Tote...yes, I know it's really big, but I personally love large handbags, and this one is no exception.

The Wide calf hair belt in Chocolate Camel. This is such a versatile piece and looks great with so many different colors, too. Definitely on my personal wishlist. :)

Vintage silk scarf in the Viridian Green color. What an absolutely beautiful color and pattern. It reminds me of the Watercolor Floral print from 2 years ago that can bee seen on this skirt. I missed out on the print back then, so this scarf is high on my wishlist.

The Coddington suede platform pumps. Wow! Is the Dusk Red color gorgeous or what? I absolutely love the silhouette of this shoe and think it would look amazing with a pencil skirt. J.Crew also offers a leather version in 3 different colors. (If you're looking for a similar shoe at a lower price point, Banana Republic has the Union High Heel Pump, and Calvin Klein has the Carley pump.)

That's it for me...what about you? Do you see any J.Crew New Arrivals that you're interested in? Have you had the opportunity to see any of it in person or try it on? Have you already made a purchase? Please do share! :)
