Target's Next Designer Collaboration Is Calypso St. Barth!!!

InStyle.com reported today that Target's next Designer Collaboration will be Calypso St. Barth!!! The article reads:

"If the Target designer collaborations leave you reeling, than we’ve got good news! Calypso St. Barth, a favorite of celebrities like Jennifer Aniston (pictured above wearing Calypso) and Kate Beckinsale, is confirmed to create a limited-edition collection of fashion and home items for Target, set to launch May 1st in stores and online. “Calypso St. Barth is a renowned global brand with an incredibly loyal following and we think Target’s guests will love the no-fuss, sophisticated appeal of the collection,” Target’s senior vice president of merchandising Trish Adams told us exclusively. While no images are available yet, the collection will include clothing and accessories for women and children, plus home goods like candles, pillows and glassware. “The Calypso St. Barth for Target collection is timed perfectly for summer and offers our guests destination-chic style at incredible prices,” Adams said. While the core Calypso offerings (above) can reach upwards of $800, the label’s Target pieces will be $1.99 to $79.99. T-minus 116 days and counting..." -Sharon Clott

I personally think this is very exciting news and will be looking forward to seeing what the line has to offer in May! :)

What do you think about the Target/Calypso St. Barth collaboration? Do you plan on checking out the pieces? Have you purchased anything from Calypso St. Barth recently? Please do share! :)

  2. It's hard to get excited about Target collections because they are usually done with cheap fabric. However, Tucker was a hit and I'm hoping this one will be similar.

  3. I'm still kicking myself for not getting more of the Liberty of London items from Target last Spring. So yes, I'm very excited about this!

  8. I usually just drool over the Calypso line. I'll be excited to see if the Target version is done with good fabric.

  9. Yea! I hope that they use a reasonable quality cotton and skip the poly fabric like they used for the Liberty of London collaboration.

  11. I literally gasped when I saw this post! I love Calypso but their prices are way out of my range...can't wait until May 1!

  12. Target collaborations can be hit - Tucker - or major miss - Mulberry. You never know. I have high hopes for this one though! The Calypso silhouettes are easier to do at lower price points. As long as they don't make any of those fabulous pieces in polyester!

  14. I must say that because of your blog I was introduced to calypso and love the line. And while I haven't been to their store in MIA(Bal Harbor), I hope to go soon, before the Target rollout. I am super excited about this collaboration with Target. The timing couldn't be any better.

  15. Thanks for posting this! I think this should be interesting, and I'll be looking out for the launch. Honestly, the quality difference may not be that great. Calypso has been really hit or miss for me, and as an internet sale shopper (with their sale credit/final sale policies) the misses have been really, really frustrating. I have some top-notch pieces from them, and I have received some total duds-tunics priced at $100+ that cost about 5c to make, and look it. Their cashmere can be divine, or it can pill worse than any JCrew piece I've owned (this from their "Scottish" cashmere originally priced at $200+).

They recently hired a new president (the former president, Jennifer Foyle, being a JCrew alum) who may be responding to retail pressures. They are a lot less customer-service oriented than they were under Foyle, IMO, perhaps in an attempt to retain revenues. This collaboration may also be another attempt to improve the bottom line. I'm all for it; I love having alternatives to JC. But when you buy something on deep discount from them ($9 or $29), it is usually worth just about that. It will be interesting to see how the Target prices compare!

  16. I am really excited about this one. As long as they use decent fabrics, it could be fantastic!

  17. Thanks for sharing FFM...this is great news! Calypso clothes are a bit out of my price range, so I am definitely going to check out their Target line!

  18. Hey Everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and share your thoughts on this new collaboration! Like many of you, I have found the past collaborations to be hit or miss and really hope this one will turn out to be one of the *hits*. Hopefully they will use decent quality fabric and materials for this line. I also hope my Target gets it in, since it hasn't gotten some of the other ones.

Anon@11:26am: Thank you for commenting about your experience with the line...it's greatly appreciated! :)

    Have a great day ladies!!

  19. Did you check out the Hautelook sale? I was very disappointed. Lots of pastel colored sacks :( If you were looking for a bathing suit cover up it was fine, but there was nothing wearable there.

  20. Desert Flower: I did check out the Haute Look sale and agree that it was rather disappointing. I was hoping to see a couple of maxi dresses and cute blouses but no such luck. I did notice that they added some items to the Calypso website sale section though. There are several pieces I would love to get but they aren't available in my size right now, unfortunately. It's worth checking out though if anyone is considering giving the brand a try since everything in the sale section is an extra 50% off with code JANSALE11.
