Style Inspiration by FFM: *3.16.11*...Calypso St. Barth Smocked Waist Dress IRL

Happy Spring Everyone! I hope your week is starting out to be a fabulous one! :) Today's post continues an ongoing feature called *Style Inspiration by FFM*, where I will post one of my Polyvore set designs and include links to items you can purchase to re-create the look if you so choose. Some of the set designs will be outfits I am wearing or have worn in the past, others will be *reader request* sets, and some will simply be outfits I would love to wear. (If possible I try to include a *real life* photo of me in the outfit if it's something I'm wearing at the time. Of course my schedule doesn't always allow time for snapping a pic, but it is definitely something I hope to include more of with this feature in the future.)

Now on to today's *Style Inspiration by FFM*...this set is an outfit I wore on 3.16.11, featuring the Calypso St. Barth Smocked Waist Dress in Grey. The weather has been gorgeous here lately, so I have been taking full advantage of it to start wearing my spring dresses.
3.16.11

The Details:

My dress is the Smocked Waist Dress from Calypso St. Barth. I purchased this one on super sale a couple of weeks ago and liked it so much that I went back for the other two colors. The Calypso website describes the dress as a "sleeveless silk silhouette with front & back v smocking around entire waistline". It is lined, has a side zip, and measures about 21 inches from the bottom of the smocking to the hem of the dress, hitting me just above the knee (for reference I am 5'4" tall, short-waisted, and wear the XSmall). This dress was my fourth purchase from Calypso St. Barth, and I have been very pleased with everything I've received so far. I also want to mention that Calypso is offering 50% off all of their Final Sale section with code FINALSALE311 at checkout. Using the code makes this dress $14.50 plus $7.95 shipping...still under $25. :)

The Pave' necklace and earring set were a birthday present from my parents. I absolutely love them and wear them on an almost daily basis. (Similar option for the necklace here and here. Similar options for the earrings here and here.)

My J.Crew Small Crystal Colletto Bracelet was purchased last year at a great price. It is sold out now, but you can find similar options here and here

The Leopard Handbag was purchased several years ago and is one of my favorites. The leather is soft and I love how it is woven on the front of the bag. At the time I purchased it, it was a bit of an investment for me, but the CPW on it is in the single digits by now since I carry it quite frequently. (Similar here and here.)

My sandals were purchased at LOFT two years ago on super sale, and you can see from the pic that I have worn them a lot. They are the Serena Mini-stud Sandals in White, but I also own them in Black with Gold Mini-studs and Light Gold with Gold Mini-studs. They are so incredibly comfortable and another great purchase...CPW must be in the negative amount by now. I'm not sure if you could find them on Ebay, but this pair (in White) and this pair may work as an alternative for you.

The Outfit On Me:

That's it for now...have a wonderful day! :)

xoxo,

  2. Thanks Tabitha! The weather is beautiful now, but in another month or so it will be sweltering. That's why I'm trying to enjoy it as much as I can right now. :)

As for the dress, I could easily see you in it or something similar, and of course it would be stunning on you!

  4. What a great find! Thank you for sharing! I love when you show what you'd gotten because I *know* it's a good purchase. I'd love to order one (or two), too, but I'm not familiar with Calypso's sizing. I find better brands run smaller than cheaper brands. What are your thoughts on the sizing?

  6. Anon@2:24pm and [elaine]: Thank you! The sizing at Calypso seems to run pretty closely to that at J.Crew. In fact, on my last call to Calypso CS, the rep asked me what my J.Crew size is and said Calypso sizing is very similar. As for this particular dress, I have the XSmall and I wear an XSmall (sometimes XXSmall) or 0/2 at J.Crew. I would suggest ordering based on your J.Crew size.

Also, I forgot to mention in the post that you get an extra 50% off Final Sale purchases at Calypso right now with code FINALSALE311 at checkout. It makes this dress $14.50 plus $7.95 for shipping...total is under $25. HTH! :)

  16. I thought this dress was cute after seeing your polyvore, but finally pulled the trigger on the navy and brown after seeing your IRL photo. Thank you so much for sharing this great find! Calypso should give you a % for each of these you've sold today, or a nice gift card:)

  27. jruby18: Thanks! The bag was purchased almost 4 years ago from HSN. It was made by a designer named Sharif (the name always makes me think of *Rock the Casbah* by The Clash). I know they still sell his bags, so you may be able to find something similar there. :)

  28. Kara: You're welcome, and congrats on getting your dresses! :)

  29. Andrea: Thanks! The dress seems to be running similar to J.Crew dress sizes, so I would order the same size who wear at J.Crew. HTH! :)

  30. Rose: Thanks! The weather has been beautiful here, so we are enjoying it as much as possible before the temps become unbearable. I hope it warms up for you soon! :)

  32. You know that I love Calypso but I had never considered (or even noticed) that dress before. It's nice to see it on you as sometimes the fit can be a little bit off at Calypso, especially in dresses. I think I am going to order the navy, as the grey is soldout in my size. Thank you for the post!

  33. Ema: You're welcome! I look forward to seeing pics of the dress on you! :)
