Sunday Shopping: Madewell New Arrivals PLUS a Guest Review by Desert Flower

Happy Sunday Everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend so far! This week "Sunday Shopping" is back and we are visiting Madewell to take a look at the New Arrivals that showed up on the website this past week. We'll also look at a few sale items (now at an extra 25% off), AND I have a special Guest Review by Desert Flower to share with you, too...YAY! Other news worth mentioning is that Madewell has asked Alexa Chung to design a second collection for them, and it is set to hit stores in the Fall of this year. :)

Lots to love at Madewell, IMO...here are some of my faves:

*silk canyon skirt...love the length, color, and overall silhouette. I hope they offer it in more colors in the future.
*bridgewalk hoodie. A zippered hoodie with stripes...need I say more? Love.
*railyard chambray shirt. Love the color...so pretty. :)

*saint james® meridien ii tee. This isn't a new arrival, but it is one my favorite pieces on the Madewell site, so I'm listing it again. :)
*embroidered dot top. How incredibly cute is this??? Love both colors!
*pinwheel blouse. I really like the print on this one, the tie at the neck (which I would wear tied in a bow), and the color. It does look a little sheer though, so a cami may be needed under it.

*wooly sweatshirt sweater. This looks super comfy and I especially love the *golden treasure* color.
*skinny switchyard cargos in white wash. I'm not one to normally wear skinny pants, but these could potentially be flattering like a couple pair of the skinny cargos that I picked up at J.Crew last year. Not to mention they would be a good option for layering under tunics.
*park bench fedora. A straw fedora is on my personal *must-have* list for this spring/summer. I think I like this one better than the ones at J.Crew right now, too.

*denim rambler jacket. A fun alternative to the basic denim jacket.
*rail straight jeans in white wash. The rail straight jeans in the various blue denim washes have gotten positive reviews on JCA, so hopefully these will be no exception.
*juniper rose scarf...such pretty colors.
*triangle trio ballad dress. I really like the print on this one. Madewell dresses seem to be on the short side for most of us, but remember that you always have the option of wearing them as a tunic over jeans, chinos, or leggings. A great example of this look can be seen here on Suzy wearing the Madewell shadows & light shirtdress.

Remember that you can receive an EXTRA 25% of sale items and Free Shipping on $100+ with code WHYNOT at checkout. The offer ends today at 11:59pm ET.
Check out these sale pieces:
*sketched feathers dress (Seen here on Summerilla.)
*The seaside sandal. I really like the *english saddle* color...a great neutral to wear with just about anything and everything.

This week we have a special added bonus to our Sunday Shopping...a guest Review by the always fabulous Desert Flower! She recently purchased the Shadow-stripe Shirt in Naval Blue and wrote this review for us:

"Like many people, I received a 20% off and free ship code from Madewell via email. I have no Madewell B&M near me and had not yet ordered anything from their website. I'd been looking at the Shadow Stripe shirt waiting for a sale and took the opportunity to order it with the code.

The neck tag says "Broadway and Broome", rather than Madewell. The shirt is a thin semi sheer silk. It is a matte fabric, not shiny, and has a texture that reminds me a bit of seersucker. I like the texture, I think the shirt will not look wrinkled after wear as quickly as smooth silk does. The body is cut straight, on the full side. There are two chest pockets that lay nicely. The front button placket is covered. I ordered the naval blue color, which is a light cream and light navy stripe. I normally order a size 2 in J. Crew perfect shirts. I ordered an XS in this shirt since I knew from the description that it was a fuller cut. I think I would have been equally happy with a size S. This shirt will do double duty in my wardrobe. It can go to work with a pencil skirt or pants, under a jacket or cardigan in cooler weather and alone in warmer weather. It will pair well with jeans or casual skirts for weekend wear."

Thank you for the review Desert Flower...it's greatly appreciated!!! Also, thank you for mentioning that the shirt is made by *Broadway and Broome*. Madewell seems to follow Anthropologie in offering pieces by different designers/brands on their site, which means that anything you order may or may not have a Madewell tag. For example, my slim-stripe shirt has *Eliot* on the neck tag, whereas my perfect chambray shirt has the Madewell name on it. Just something to keep in mind when visiting and ordering from their website, since garment measurements can differ from designer to designer. If you are in doubt about sizing on an item, I suggest using the chat feature to ask for measurements for that specific piece. It isn't always full-proof, but still definitely helps most of the time in making the correct sizing choice.

What do you think about the New Arrivals at Madewell? Is there anything you're interested in? Are you shopping the extra 25% off sale? Is there any Madewell piece you have and would highly recommend? Please do share! :)

  2. Thanks FFM and DesertFlower!
I just placed my first order, mostly for my older daughter who will be 16 in two weeks! I am putting together a couple of outfits for her.
Happy that the sale items are not Final Sale. I am trying out a couple of the dresses.
One item I think my daughter will love is the Striped Tee in the pink oyster colorway.
