Cute Combination Alert: Zara Stripes and J.Crew Paisley

Hey Everyone! This is a really quick post because I've got to get dinner started, but I wanted to let you know about a really cute outfit combination I found using a tee from Zara and a scarf from J.Crew.

The tee I purchased is the Retro-stripe T-Shirt in Copper from Zara that retails for $19.90. It is 100% cotton and super soft and comfy. The fit is a bit boxy and roomy, but as you can see from the pic with the model, that's how it is supposed to be. I bought the size Small. When I first saw it in the store, I immediately thought to myself that it would look lovely paired with the in-store only Paisley scarf from J.Crew that has the same print as the Paisley Pencil Skirt, but in softer, more muted colors. This is how they look together:

You can see in this close up pic how well the colors of the stripes work with those of the paisley print:

I also love the two of them worn together under the Navy Schoolboy Blazer.

Close up (sorry for the blurry shot):

I plan to wear this combination with a pair of jeans and penny loafers, or my cognac ankle boots once the weather cools down. It could also easily be worn with a denim pencil skirt, khakis, white denim, or a pencil skirt in a complimentary shade such as camel. There really are numerous possibilities for the tee/scarf combination, not to mention each one of them can also pair with other items to make even more outfits, thus making the CPW (Cost Per Wear) of each item even lower.

Btw, if you haven't already heard, Zara is opening their online store on September 7, 2011, so if you don't have a Zara in your area, or aren't able to get to one on a regular basis, you'll now be able to purchase the merchandise online...YAY! :)

Do you visit Zara often? Are you excited for their online store? Please do share!

Have a lovely evening! :)

xoxo,

  1. I really like that combo! I'm a big fan of Zara and shop there whenever I can - this summer in the Copenhagen & Atlanta stores and in Vancouver when we are visiting. I CANNOT WAIT for the online store to open! :)

  3. Thanks sparrowsandsparkles! I am fortunate to have a Zara nearby, but unfortunately they don't always have everything that the current online site does. It will be so nice to just be able to purchase from their website and not have to make a special trip to the store to try and hunt down an item. :)

  4. I really love this look-- great colors and patterns together. We have no Zara, JCrew or most anything here but look forward to the website as they seem to have reasonably priced cute stuff.

  5. Hi Lane! Yes, Zara does have a lot of reasonably priced merchandise and the quality is usually pretty decent, too. They are definitely worth checking out. :)

  7. I love this combination, it's brilliant (hehe, I might have to copy it ;-) ). I am buying more and more stuff at Zara these days. I am cautiously excited about Zara's online store - let's just hope they don't gouge customers like J. Crew did with their "new" Canadian online shopping portal.

  8. Thank you Louise! I have also been wondering how Zara will handle the online store. I hope they offer free shipping promos and possibly free returns or at least reasonable rates. I also wonder if the website will be able to handle all the traffic it's going to receive that day.

I don't think they would be the type to gouge customers (at least I hope not) for shopping online, especially after the press J.Crew has received for their ridiculous actions, but I guess you just never know. I am hoping for the best though! Fingers crossed for a fabulous Zara online shopping experience for everyone! :)

  9. I can't wait for the Zara online shop! I moved away from a mall with a Zara, so it's always disappointing to have less shopping options. Here's hoping they have a decent return policy, either with a long return window (so I can return to a Zara when I head home) or free return shipping.

I do wonder if the demand for their products grew a lot after the royal wedding - I feel like every other outfit of Duchesse Kate or Pippa contains a Zara item - and that's why the online shop is opening?

  10. I LOVE Zara as well and am really hoping for free shipping and free returns in-store. I love that their small sizes are actually small, so petites are not sized out, and I love the more tailored pieces. I'll be holding off from JCrew in anticipation of the Zara online launch :)

  12. This pairing is genius. I really love pattern mixing. Thank you for the inspiration, FFM.

I have no ZAra near me so I'm very excited about the online shopping.

  13. This is a lovely combination! Thanks for sharing!

I don't go into Zara often - just don't find much there I'm willing to pay for. It seems H&Mish with jacked-up prices. Maybe I just don't have a good store? I did find fabulous peep-toes pumps once...

  14. frugalprepster: I really do hope they have a reasonable shipping and return policy put in place, especially since there are so many customers who don't have a Zara nearby.

Interesting idea about the online shop having to do with the Royal Wedding. I'm sure that many who had never heard of Zara have at this point. I do think it has to be in part that it was the next step in expanding their business and helping them compete with other retailers. Just think how many more sales they're going to be getting now! :)

  15. jcbellemarie: I agree completely about the sizing. I cannot even wear a Small at J.Crew now without it being way too large, but I can comfortably fit into a small at Zara. Their clothing seems to be running much more TTS and not so vanity sized.

  16. Thanks mommydearest! My Zara seems to usually have pretty decent merchandise. I do agree that some of the prices are a bit high for what the item is, but I would consider the quality to be a step up from H&M at least. This tee that I bought feels really soft and comfortable. Plus it's not tissue thin, either. I'm ok with paying $20 for it and actually bought it in another color, as well. I'm using that one for another *inspired* look that I'll post about soon. :)

  17. This is absolutely adorable! I'm loving this :-)

And I'm very excited to hear about Zara's online store! We don't have one anywhere around me, so I will be very excited to check it out.

  18. Great look! I've never heard of Zara will have to check it out, I don't think we have one in Raleigh.

  20. Thank you jennifer and Karen! :)

anon@10:16am: I've seen the Paisley scarf online, but don't remember it being available in this color combination before. Thanks for the heads up! :)

  21. So I just checked my scarf and it is different than the one online, so I'm pretty sure it is in-store only. The item # for the one I have is 46176 and the one online is 44152.
