OOTD: 8.27.11

Time for another Outfit of the Day! :) This is what I wore this past Saturday, 8.27.11, to run errands, get a French pedicure, and take the boys to a friend's birthday party.

8.27.11

The Details:

*Rachel Pally Caftan Print Maxi Dress in 'White Pinwheel'. I was able to get this on sale back in March from Piperlime, and I absolutely adore it. It is definitely one of my favorite purchases and receives numerous compliments every time I wear it. It flows beautifully when I walk and the fabric is absolutely yummy. Buying this one has made me realize that all maxi dresses are not created equal, and trust me...I have a LOT of maxi dresses, so I know the difference. I would absolutely buy another one in a different color/print if I could get it without paying a small fortune. (Similar here and here.)

*My Pavé Ball Earrings were a gift from my parents for my 40th birthday and they have quickly become one of my favorite pairs to wear. (Similar here and here.)

*Shimmering Croco Pattern Strap Watch in white. This is very pretty IRL and comfortable to wear, as well.

*Isaac Mizrahi Live Perfect Crystal Bold Stretch Bracelet. This is another one of my favorites and I wear it quite frequently. (I own it in the silver version, as well.) It really is so pretty IRL, and I get compliments, as well as asked where it's from at least once every single time I wear it. As a matter of fact, the last time I was in Anthropologie, the SA who was helping me asked about it and was planning on buying one for herself and one to give as a gift...in both colors.

*LOFT Serena Mini-Stud sandals in white, which I wear on a constant basis. I have been looking for an alternative to these since the soles are just about worn out now and recently purchased the 'Farley' sandal from Report (in white). They don't have the gold studs, but I like the solid color since I will be able to wear it with both gold and silver accessories. I haven't worn them yet, but from trying them on they seem incredibly comfortable.

*J.Crew Gold Large Metallic Thompson Tote. This bag has turned out to be another great purchase and the CPW (Cost Per Wear) is in the negative numbers at this point. If you're interested in finding one, I have seen them listed occasionally on Ebay and even on the JCA Weekly Exchange, otherwise there are similar options here and here

IRL:

That's it for now! Enjoy the rest of your day! :)

xoxo,

  1. Love this look on you! So cute! I have a hard time wearing maxi dresses without looking stumpy...but you rock it! Is your hair really dark & shorter now? Is it my imagination or was it blonde before? I am so ready to try something new with my hair.....something about the change of seasons makes me crave a change....

  2. Love this look! Is this dark hair I see peeking out???? As a hairstylist nothing gets past me, It looks gorgeous!!! I have been blonde and brunnette, hmm FFM your making me think again. Once I dyed my hair when my middle one was napping and when he woke up he climbed to the side of the crib and cried, he didnt recognize me, LOL..

  6. Thanks Kim! Yes, my hair is dark now and no...it wasn't your imagination about it being blonde. I just felt like it was time for a change. I had been contemplating it for quite awhile and finally did it. :)

  7. addicted to JCrew/Ann Taylor: Thank you! Yes, I finally got so fed up with constantly having dark roots or else being at the hair salon that I decided to go back to 'the dark side' (heehee). I am still getting used to it, as it really was a drastic change, but I think it's going to be much easier to maintain now. :)

  8. Thank you Jordyn! My hair has been bobbed for awhile now, but I just went back brunette last month. Like I said before, it is taking some getting used to after being blonde for so many years, but it will just be so much easier to maintain in the long run. :)

  14. You are inspiring me to think about a maxi dress or skirt. I am a child of the 70's ( college) when we wore long versions of indian bedspreads and I guess i have not recovered-- you look very chic!

  15. I find that coloring my own hair at home has saved me a ton of money and I like doing it so quickly and easily. I went from light brown to blond and maintaining blond from home is so easy. If you ever think of going back this the way to go...and this is coming from someone who does not have any gray and likes to color for fun. The new John Freida foam is amazing. I mean AMAZING stuff!

FFM, I just LOVE this post!!! You look absolutely fantastic! I am also thrilled to read you are 40 as I am over 40. It is nice to have someone in that age range to follow. Thank you for sharing that. Look forward to more OOTD!

  18. mommydearest: Thank you! You are too kind! I did turn 41 this past May and believe me, my age shows! However, I have figured out over the years how to dress to accentuate my 'positive' assets and hide the multitude of my 'negative' ones. That has turned out to be one of the best beauty/anti-aging 'tricks' I have ever learned. :)

  19. Lane: Oh please do not let memories of the 'vintage' maxis deter you from trying one of the newly designed ones. There really are so many flattering styles out there now, I'm sure you can find one that will work for you. :)
