Guest Review by *The Outfit of the day*: J.Crew Roulette Clutch

Happy Friday Everyone! Today I am bringing you another Guest Review...this time the ever-fabulous *The Outfit of the day* (check out her blog MODA) is sharing her review of the J.Crew Roulette Clutch with us...YAY! (This bag is beautiful, and even though it sold out quickly, it may be possible to catch it as a popback if you keep watching for it.) :)

The Outfit of the day writes: "I had in mind to find a bright and fun bag for this spring/summer. JCrew made it easy, when I first saw the bright two in one suede/gloss patent unique effect of the Roulette Clutch, I decided right way this was the one! The size was proportional, the concept was genius and the color was perfect for my outfit ideas I had in mind.

This clutch is sold in two colors, bright yellow/sandalwood and apple green/parsley sprig.

The clutch is reversible, you can choose between the dramatic yellow or the calm sandalwood color.

Although the yellow suede is not as bright as I expected, it is more everyday wearable in the long run. You can use it as a clutch or you can wear it with the strap at shoulder length.

The clutch however was not easy to unfold inside out and I found it a little difficult to keep the bag completely closed which caused an awkward look. I haven't tried it yet but I believe if you rest the bag with a heavy material on top of it maybe helps.

I found the bag overall to be clever, multifunctional, beautiful, for both day and night. Could not be happier!"
Thank you so much again, The Outfit of the day, for the fantastic review...the bag is gorgeous! (I especially love that you paired it with the beautiful blue dress and fabulous Chiara Ferragni blue heels!) Congratulations on getting it! :)

As most of you already know, J.Crew recently added some New Arrivals to the website. Here are some of the pieces from my *watch list*, in case you missed them the other day. :)

*Doria Dress. I absolutely love maxi dresses, so of course I would love to try this one IRL.
*Perfect shirt in Casbah paisley. This print looks really lovely and has gotten positive reviews in the JCA community.
*Shrunken fisherman sweater. I love that it is now offered in Navy. I'm actually waitlisted for this one...can't wait to see it IRL! :)
*Sidewalk blazer in summer plaid . Love the color on this one! Hopefully I can snatch it on sale. ;)
*Oversize boy shirt in stripe. This reminds me of my Madewell Slim Stripe Shirt that I love. I've been looking for a similar one in blue, so this one may just fit the bill.
*Linen Maddie Pant in Gauguin Orange. I love the silhouette of the pant, not to mention the fabulous color. I knew I wanted to try them the minute I saw them on Marissa Webb in this photo from the Fall 2011 Preview. I really like the way she has them paired with the tan-colored blouse, so I will try a similar look by pairing them with this blouse(in Mineral Deposit) that I have from Old Navy.
*Summer plaid sidewalk short. Oh how I wish they would make these in with a longer inseam! I just cannot wear a 4 inch short, but would have definitely tried them if they were 7 or 9 inches.
*Tisbury bucket bag in Natural. What a cute bag to carry in spring and summer with more casual outfits.
*Double-strand charm necklace. Love the layered look and the fact that it isn't over-sized (especially since I'm absolutely loving delicate necklaces and earrings right now).
*Casbah scarf. I really like all three colors, but will go for the Jade if the perfect-shirt in the same color/print doesn't work out.

**If you have a review you would like to share with us, please feel free to email me at FabulousFloridaMommy@cfl.rr.com. :)

Have a beautiful day!

Fabulous Florida Mommy *Book Club*...Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Inès de la Fressange

Happy Thursday Everyone! It's time once again for Fabulous Florida Mommy *Book Club* and this week we continue our reading of Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Inès de la Fressange. :)

The second excerpt is taken from Part 2...The Not-So Basics.

"BRILLIANT basics are the key to a great look! Parisian style is simple (well, almost). Make sure your wardrobe includes the Magnificent Seven: a man's blazer, a trench coat, a navy sweater, a tank top, a little black dress, jeans, and a leather jacket. After that, it's all a matter of composition. What effect are you aiming for? How to transform your basics? What to avoid? Here is a user's guide for that "made in Paris" look."

The Blazer...

"The Essential Look: *The masculine/feminine. And definitely not the masculine/masculine. You have to know how to give it that feminine touch.

The Transforming Touch
* Belt it!
* Push back or roll up the sleeves—the ultimate "easy chic" statement. Even better when the lining's a different color.
* For daytime, wear it with pants in a contrasting color (jeans are always good).
* For evening, match the jacket and pants (black on black, a perennial favorite).
* Wear it with a white shirt casually unbuttoned at the top for a subtly sexy look. A lace, silk, or satin camisole adds a further touch of chic.

Fashion Faux Pas:
—→A miniskirt with a masculine blazer—an ultra-feminine skirt kills the jacket's impact.
—→An oversized jacket with linebacker shoulder pads. No, you can't! Keep it fitted.

Celeb Style: Navy blazer + white chiffon shirt + white jeans: a clean, crisp look that suits everyone!

Hall of Fame: The Yves Saint laurent tuxedo jacket. Wear it as the man himself suggested, with nothing but a bra underneath. Obviously the YSL version isn't within every woman's reach, but its fabulous success means it has been widely copied by affordable chain-store labels. Merci!"

The Trench...

"The Intended Look: You've been wearing it forever, like a second skin.

The Transforming Touch:
* Roll or push up the sleeves and scrunch the collar to make it less rigid.
* Never, ever buckle the belt properly like a good little girl. Tie it in front or behind with the buckle hanging loose. Unobtrusive fashion statements like this ("Life's too short," or "The buckle's broken but I love this coat so much I found a solution...") are very, very Parisian.

Celeb Style: With jeans, dinner-suit pants, over a little black dressis there any occasion when a trench coat will not do? It goes over everything and with everything!

Fashion Faux Pas:
—→ The military look. Never over-emphasize the (wartime) "trench" aspect of your trench coat....
—→ With a long skirt. No one wants to look like a statue or a chess-piece.
—→ With a twin-set, rope of pearls, straight skirt, and hair band. Avoid this particular fashion statement (which says very clearly "No fun...!"). Unless you are sixteen years old, with an extra helping of irony.
—→ In polyester.

Hall of Fame: The Burberry, bien sûr! Plenty of other versions look the same from a distance, without the legendary lining, but it's still a great look."

The Navy Sweater...

"The Essential Look: Clean-cut but not too straight-laced. Understated, but more sophisticated than a plain black sweater. (Admit it: sometimes black sweaters are just too easy!)

The Transforming Touch:
* White jeans. Two items that are made for each other.
* Black pants, in honor of Yves Saint Laurent's brilliant way with chic color combinations.
* With flat shoes for an "easy cool" look.
* With heels and a bunch of bangles for evening (think "clink" not "bling").

Celeb Style: White jeans + V-neck navy sweater + high-heeled sandals + leather jacket.

Which Fabric? Cashmere, of course. Too expensive? Not true! Parisians snap up the cashmere collections at chain-store sales and rave about their finds at Monoprix stores throughout France. Remember that cashmere lasts far longer than other wools or fabrics, wash after wash!

Fashion Faux Pas:
—→ Any navy sweater is timeless! Éric Bompard (www.ericbompard.com) is often cited as the official supplier of virtually every Parisian. But New Yorkers (Gap) and Tokyo-ites (Uniqlo) have their favorites, too!"

(All the information above is from the book.)

*The Not-So-Basics will be continued in a future post.

What are your thoughts on the second excerpt from the book? Do you agree with what Inès de la Fressange has to say? Will you consider following her advice on the Not-So-Basics? Do you already own these basics? Please do share! :)

If you're considering some of the *Not-So-Basics* take a look at these...

The Blazer:

Enjoy your day! :)

On my Madewell watch list:

*Noonday stripe maxidress . Maxi dress, stripes, plus it's blue(one of my favorite colors)...need I say more?
*Sleeper-stripe Boyshirt I like the lighter color...very spring-like.
*Noonday stripe shutterbug top. Love it in both colors and how they have it styled with the belt...very cute.
*Embroidered dot top. This one has been on the website for a little while now, but I still felt it worth a mention...so pretty and feminine. Love the embroidered detailing and both colors.
*The Shiprock flip-flop. The Desert Sky stripes are really cute...very fun to wear with a basic navy dress to add some interest to the overall look.
*Printed Twirl Tank...nice colors. Looks comfortable and easy to wear for warm weather.
*Striped sahara sunset blouse...yes, more stripes.;) I do like how they have it styled as a jacket over the tank. This is a nice alternative to wearing heavier weight jackets in the warmer months while still achieving a similar look.
*Pleated pembroke dress . Granted, it is short (too short for me to wear), but that Glam Pink shade is gorgeous!
*Palm Paisley Dress. Adorable print and I like the overall silhouette, too.

***Madewell is currently offering FREE SHIPPING/NO MINIMUM with code YESPLEASE at checkout until 4.29.11.

What are your thoughts on the New Arrivals at J.Crew and Madewell? Is there anything you're interested in? Have you already tried or purchased any of the new pieces? Please do share! :)

Inspiration: To Believe

TO BELIEVE is to know that every day is a new beginning, to trust that miracles can happen, and that dreams really do come true.

TO BELIEVE is to see the angels dancing among the clouds, to know the wonder of a starlit sky and the wisdom of the man in the moon.

TO BELIEVE is to know the value of a nurturing heart, the innocence of a child's eyes, and the beauty of an aging hand, for it is through their teachings we learn to love.

TO BELIEVE is to find the strength and courage that lies within us, when it is time to pick up the pieces and begin again.

TO BELIEVE is to know that we are not alone, that life is a gift and this is our time to cherish it.

TO BELIEVE is to know that wonderful surprises are waiting to happen, and all our hopes and dreams are within our reach.
