In Love With...Dotted Dresses

Ever since posting this photo of Viviana Volpicella here back in November of last year, I have been searching for a similar dress to wear with my own leopard calf-hair pumps. So far I haven't found 'The One', but thought I would share some of the polka-dot dresses I have come across during my quest. Which one is your favorite?

I am seriously contemplating this one to wear with sandals this coming spring...

  1. I'm with you I like the RL shirt dress. The Kate Spade comes in second, but I'm not if the tie effect across the chest would bother me after awhile.

  2. I'm also in love the Marni. But not the price tag!

  3. What do you think of BR Polka Dotted dress? I think it is really cute, I may try it if I can use one of the 30% coupons.

  4. The look in the photo is so pretty and I love the feminine silhouette. Dots aren't my thing, but I've got an eyelet cotton dress with a fuller skirt that I'll have to wear with some heels so I can emulate this look.

  5. Dorothy: Isn't the RL dress so pretty? It reminds me of a dress I purchased last year at Anthropologie that is very flattering on and easy to wear. This one is definitely high on my wishlist. :)

The Kate Spade dress is so cute, and I've actually considered purchasing it a couple of times, but like you just don't know about the front. I'd love to have the opportunity to try it on IRL, but since I only have the outlet near me probably won't get the chance unless I just go ahead and order it.

Out of the two I would be more likely to go for the RL dress. Hope they offer a % off soon. :)

  6. Lizzy T: I love both of the Marni dresses, but definitely not the price. Hopefully someone will offer a less-expensive alternative. :)

  7. ajc: The BR dress is very pretty...I would definitely give it a try! It reminds me of this RL dress a bit, only in different colors. Please let me know what you think if you try it, and I will do likewise. :)

  8. JulieStyles: The photo is one of my favorites. As you said, the silhouette is so feminine and the entire look is very pretty. I think opting for an eyelet dress in place of the dotted one is a fantastic idea! I have one that I could also use as a stand in. Thanks for the idea! :)

  9. ajc: Are you a cardholder at the Gap stores? There is a code BRNEW30 that gives you 30% off on new arrivals if you are. :)

  12. I would love to know the designer of the dress and pumps. Any clue? Or a lookalike of the pumps... The orange accents are perfect! Just gave me an idea to pair my Blythe shirt dress in poppy with my wide calf hair belt!

  15. Michelle P: I have searched for the designer of the dress without any luck. Perhaps someone who knows will come across this post and comment.

I have a pair of pumps that are very similar to the ones Viviana is wearing, but I purchased them in 2010 so they aren't available anymore. However, Ivanka Trump makes a pump that is quite similar here. HTH! :)

  16. addicted to JCrew/AnnTaylor: You are right. There are plenty of dresses that are making their spring debuts, so hopefully one of them will be the dress I have been searching for. :)

  18. I seem to recall in the original Sartorialist post, the dress was identified as vintage. I'm not positive.

I've also been looking for a similar dress since that post, FFM. You've found some great options! Thank you.

  19. The BR polked dotted dress is very cute in RL. Actually I am on business and CA and purchased it there. You can use the 30% off which puts it under $100. The SAs said they are flying out of the store.

  20. Michelle P.: I'll let you know if I come across a higher pair, too. :)

Desert Flower: Thanks! I had re-read through all the comments on another photo of the dress where she is with Anna Dello Russo, but didn't see anything noted about where the dress was from, although several people did ask. If it is vintage, I hope someone will at least make a reproduction. :)

shari: Thank you for your comment about the BR dress. Can you believe it is sold out online already this morning? Looks like what the SAs told you now applies to the website, as well. :)
