In 1960 they were doing Dots AND a "Pop of Color"...

Speaking of Polka-dots...I still love my Ralph Lauren Polka-dot Cotton Shirtdress, and continue to be extremely pleased with my purchase. I highly recommend the dress if you can happen to catch it on popback. (If you don't mind paying full-price, it is still available here right now, btw.)

J.Crew added some New Arrivals to their website this morning...have you had the chance to check them out yet? See anything you like?

I took a quick peek this morning, and so far I think this Silk Ruffle Collar blouse in Marrakech print looks very interesting. It's a collection piece though, so I'm sure it is probably pretty pricey, not to mention that right now it is only available at the 769 Madison Avenue Collection Boutique.

The swimsuit that I mentioned seeing in the May edition of Lucky Magazine is part of the new arrivals and currently available here.

Just a reminder that J.Crew is offering 30% off Final Sale items with code MUSTHAVE at checkout. There are currently many Promo-priced items on the website (in 'select colors') that are also eligible for the extra % off (making them an even better deal)! For those of you who aren't familiar with Promo-priced items, they are select pieces that J.Crew marks down to a 'Promotional Price' for a short amount of time. Then after a week or so (sometimes longer), they either go back up to full-price or move on into Final Sale. Besides being marked down for a short amount of time, the extra nice thing about the Promo-priced items is that anytime there is an Extra % off sale, they also receive the discount, but they aren't Final Sale even when the discount is applied...gotta love that! :) I have noted the majority of them HERE.

In other J.Crew-related news...

Madewell is offering 25% off their SPRING FAVORITES plus Free Shipping on $100+...click here to shop. :) (No code necessary and prices as marked).

4.14.12

This past week has been incredibly busy for me with a work-related project, teaching school lessons each day to the boys, an all-day trip to Shriners Hospital in Tampa on Monday (my 6 year-old had a clinic visit which included spinal x-rays and being fitted for a new leg brace), running errands, as well as my normal day-to-day domestic duties and blogging. I feel like I have been behind on everything and trying to play 'catch up' all week...ever have one of those days or weeks?

The outfit above is what I wore to run errands and make a trip to the market this past Saturday...after all, a pretty dress can make any errand or event much more pleasant. ;)

My dress is the Anthropologie Beda Dress from my wardrobe archives (I have been Shopping My Closet a lot again lately and have been enjoying many of my older 'archived' pieces). This dress just happens to be one of my favorites. The details on the dress are lovely, it is very well made, and I purchased it at a fabulous sale price...gotta love that! :)

I paired the dress with my Urchin's Shell crystal earrings from Anthropolgie, Isaac Mizrahi Live 'Perfect Crystal Bold Stretch Bracelet' in Goldtone, a tortoise resin and crystals watch, tortoise sunglasses, Zsa Zsa Jeweled Thong Sandal in gold,  and J.Crew Gold Thompson Tote which I purchased several years ago.

I just love the way my Zsa Zsa Jeweled Thong Sandals match perfectly with the gold Thompson Tote and Isaac Mizrahi Crystal Stretch Bracelet...little details like that make me happy. :)

So what have you been up to this week? Do you have any special plans for the weekend? Please do share...I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

  2. oh my....all the shots from the 50s look so "today" I love them all. I have the Beda dress (in green) and still love it too. Honestly, Anthro hasn't been tempting me as much as it once did and I'm finding I'm almost 100% JCrew shopping this days...

Your sandals are adorable....are they comfy? I almost never-ever-ever wear flats but I'm looking for some cute flat sandals and these might fit the bill.

Thanks! (As always love reading your blog)

  3. Hi -suz! The Jack Rogers sandals are incredibly comfortable! I can wear them all day without my feet hurting and now own 6 pairs...that is how much I love them! I know they are a bit pricey, but the quality is excellent and you can usually find them on sale at some point, too. That is how I got all of mine. :)

  4. Thanks so much for sharing those wonderful images of the polka dot dresses, they do remind me of the big shot dot dress which I bought and love.
I didn't even see that new blouse at JCrew, it's so pretty, not seeing anything I have to have and happy for it I have to say!
I hope the rest of your week goes well, it sounds like you have been so busy!

  6. Oh, FFM, I'm so glad you posted about the Beda - it's a good reminder for me to go dig it out too. The warm weather is perfect for it. :D

I love all of those vintage images, btw. Were they wearing corsets to get their wastes so tiny???

    1. Hi Carol! Yes, I think they were probably at least wearing girdles, but I have also read information about the size of women's waists being much smaller back then than they are now. I actually used to have a much smaller waist of 23" before I had my boys, but have sadly never been able to get it back that small.
