A Little This, A Little That...

Love this vintage photo from French Elle Magazine 1951...that dress is absolutely stunning.

So is this entire look...especially love the coat.
Remember this photo of Shala Monroque wearing the gorgeous Valentino Funnel-neck dress? (I originally blogged about it here back in January.)

Doesn't this Guy Laroche dress from the April/May 1971 Vogue Pattern Book remind you of it? It does me, and look...the model in the pattern book is even wearing black shoes just like Shala. :)

Speaking of dresses...look what arrived earlier this week just in time for my birthday:

It's the Diamond Confetti Shirtdress from Anthropologie, which you may remember from my Yes Please!!! post back on April 14th.

The dress had been on my list since its debut on the Anthropologie website, but I was waiting for a free shipping promo and my birthday discount to order. Well, Anthropologie offered Free Shipping on orders of $100+ for Anthro Card Holders last week, so I quickly took advantage of the promo, my Anthro birthday discount, and my $25 Gift Card (that I won from a giveaway that Rose had on her fabulous blog back in March) to order it.

I love the colors, silhouette, and the fact that it has gold buttons, which will pair well with my gold jewelry and Zsa Zsa Jeweled Thong Sandals. While I would have preferred the dress to be made of cotton, the fact that it is made of Polyester that feels similar to silk is not a deal-breaker for me, as the dress has many other redeeming qualities to make up for the fabric content.

In other birthday related news...I also found out that along with sharing my May 1st birthday with my now 15 year-old niece (who just got her driving learner's permit),  I also share it with Garance DorĂ©...how fun! Do you share your birthday with anyone in your family or someone renowned?

Just a reminder that today is the last day to take advantage of the 'Secret Sale' at J.Crew. If you haven't yet heard the news, you can save an extra 30% on Promo-Priced and Sale items with code MUSTSHOP at checkout. I updated the list of Promo-priced Items and you can see them list here.
As I mentioned here last week, I had planned to begin packing yesterday for our stay on the Gulf Coast (which takes place in a few days). However, due to several unexpected events that have taken place over the past week I was not able to, so that will be my main objective for today. I already have most of my outfits for the 9 days planned, so packing for myself will be pretty easy. The boys are really good at helping to pack their bags, so fortunately that will also be fairly easy, and shouldn't take too terribly long either...gotta love that! :)

The weather forecast looks good for our stay on the coast and daily trips to the hospital...nice and sunny with very little rain in the picture. This is extra nice for us since we will be traveling about 45 minutes to an hour each morning to get over to Shriners Hospital in Tampa, and then the same amount of time to get back to the coast again later in the day.

As I mentioned last week, I will have limited internet access while I'm there, but do hope to still have several posts running on the blog while I'm gone if time permits. :)

That's it for now...

So what have you been up to this week? Do you have any special plans for the weekend? Please do share...I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

    1. Thank you Nantucket Daffodil! I also love the Gulf Coast beaches and always look forward to heading over there, even if we don't get to spend much time on the actual beach.

  5. you are one savvy shopper ffm. i love that dress! and what a good deal you got on it. some of the new polyesters are so nice - they do feel like silk and are easier to care for.

have a wonderful trip and i hope you all can make it to the beach for some fun.

  6. FFM, I recall a while ago you posted about a hawaiin map print skirt. I see on JCA that "Conster" is selling a "EUC j Crew map of Hawaii mini skirt -retail, size 0 / $15 shipped" on the Great Weekly Exchange (posted on May 3). I thought of you so wanted to mention this, not sure if this is something you'd be interested in as I don't know what the skirt looks like. HTH

    1. Thank you so much for letting me know about the skirt for sale Jan! I love the J.Crew map prints...too bad this one is a mini-skirt and not one of the longer length ones. I do appreciate you think of me! :)

  7. Happy belated birthday! I share my birthday with my youngest sister (the baby in our family). The morning of my birthday, Dad told me I would receive a special gift. Well, I was expecting to get a 10 speed bike, but...the surprise was my sister. I sulked in self pity at the time, but fortunately love gabbing w/my baby sis, especially now that we're moms.

I never did receive a 10 speed. Lol!

    1. Thank you cmg, and thanks for sharing your birthday story, as well! I can imagine it would have been rather distressing to hear that you had to share your birthday with a new baby sister when you were only 10! Glad to hear that you and your sister are close now though! :)
