A Little This, A Little That...

Such Glamour...

"New York, NY: Three of Hollywood’s loveliest stars emerge from a TWA non-stop flight from Los Angeles upon arriving at New York’s International Airport Sept. 1, 1954. L to R are: Grace Kelly, who is starting a vacation; Liz Taylor, enroute to England to join husband Michael Wilding; and Laraine Day, here to root for her husband’s Giants in the pennant stretch drive."

More glamour from 1954...

What color are you wearing on your lips this summer? As you may remember from this post, Schiaparelli pink is the 'it' color this year...are you wearing it?

Fortunately, pink is a flattering lipstick shade for me so I do wear it quite frequently...funny thing is that the pink lipstick I've been wearing lately is actually meant to be red. It just shows up as bright pink on my lips. It is the supercalifragilipstick! in adventurous red from Kate Spade, which is from a line of lipsticks created in collaboration with the 'Queen' of Lipstick: Poppy King. (You can read more about her here and here). I really like this lipstick, as it is very moisturizing and has excellent 'staying' power. I am even considering one in a different shade. :)

I first became aware of Poppy King back in 2009 when I decided to give her Lipstick Queen Medieval a try, after seeing her appearance on QVC. (I included the lipstick in this post of my favorite things in early 2010.) My skin tone tends to be a bit on the ruddy side, so wearing red lipstick has always been a challenge for me. However...after finding the Medieval shade, this isn't the case anymore. This is an extremely wearable shade of red that works on everyone. If you think you can't wear red, I would suggest giving this one a try...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. :)

I have been on another decluttering and re-organizing mission this week. This time it has been the Master Bedroom...cleaning out the closet, dresser drawers, bookcase, etc. (I have also be editing my wardrobe to empty it of more items that aren't working for me anymore, and may post some things for sale here on my blog soon.) Today I plan on tackling a pile of papers that need to go through the shredder, and if there is time I may even move on to the Master Bath. :)

That's it for now...

So what have you been up to this week? Have you done any decluttering, organizing, or wardrobe editing lately? Do you have any plans for the upcoming weekend? Please do share! I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

  1. Hi-I've just laundered and packed up winter wool and cashmere sweaters. Drawers have been refilled with tank tops, tees and cotton cardigans for the upcoming warm weather. It is still chilly in the mornings and evenings, but the sun is shining!
We have a family brunch on Sunday and lots of yard work for the weekend, plus baseball, which never seems to end for us.
BTW-if you have not tried this lip tint/treatment, you must. http://www.fresh.com/skincare/lip-care-skincare/sugar-plum-tinted-lip-treatment-spf-15. It is one of the 5 beauty products I cannot live without.
    Have a great weekend!

  2. hi FFM,i also cleaned out and decluttered.i am finding my style has changed,it is become more simple and classic.the major thing that changed for me is that i think i have found "my style".
i also learned a lot from all the blogs and became bolder and pickier what i buy.

i am loving the bold lips right now and my go to colors are neon pink from bobbi brown and so chaud from Mac(orange).
the jcrew lipstick from poppy king reads red on my lips and i really like it too, because it can go from sheer to bold.

    1. Hi Ina! Isn't it so nice when you start to discover your own true style? I think it really helps curb some of the obsessing and over shopping that can happen...at least it did for me. :)

      Have a wonderful Sunday!

  3. I am into orange lipstick right now. I have been into gloss for years and slowly I am going back to my lipsticks roots!
That is funny because I just reorganized my closet as well. I moved my shoes for the other side of the room and now i have more space for clothes, now I can see and find them easier.

  5. Hi FFM,
Grace Kelly is my fashion icon. I so love her style! Its summer so I've been splitting my time between clearing out clutter and driving the kids to swim team. I love doing both! Can't wait to see what you'll be selling out of your closet. You're not selling any purses are you? I haven't seen anything lately that I'm dying to have.

    1. Hi Dorothy! It sounds like you have been very busy, too! So far no purses have made the cut, but I'm not done yet. ;)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  6. I have the poppy king lipstick from J Crew and I love it. I'd like to try more of her reds!
I did another closet clean-out last week, I brought a huge bag to my consignment store. I've ordered a few things from J Crew as potential birthday presents from my husband but I may be sending everything back, although it's more about the fit on me than it is the quality. I'll try to get up reviews today.
I love organizing and de-cluttering, this weekend my task is the garden shed. We've had loads of rain and our garden looks amazing right now.
I hope you and your family are well and that you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Hi Dani! You really should try out the Medieval shade. It is a very wearable color, especially for everyday use. Have fun clearing out your garden shed. We have that on our 'to-do' list here, too. :)
