A Little This, A Little That...

Love This...

And This...

Absolutely Stunning...

This Too...

Remember my 'A Little This, A Little That...' post here back in April which showcased vintage polka-dot pieces? Well, J.Crew debuted their Pre-Fall rollout on the website this morning, and there are lots and lots of polka-dots. Here are my favorite new dotted pieces:

Collection invitation clutch in dot

(This is the one that I shared a sneak peek photo of this past Saturday in this post.)

Are you a fan of polka-dots? Do you like any of the new polka-dot items at J.Crew?

These other New Arrival pieces also caught my eye...

Ok so this one isn't actually available for purchase on the website today, but from the moment I saw it in ajc's Sneak-Peek post here, it immediately went on my list of fall item must-haves. (Thanks to ajc for the photo!)

Zigzag sequin tee and Photo Floral skirt (not yet available).

(Thanks to Slastena for this catalog image!)

Classic shirtdress

You know how much I adore shirtdresses...need I say more?

Downtown Field Jacket in Deep Navy.

I tried this jacket on and posted photos here...it is also on my list of items for fall.

What do you think of the J.Crew New Arrivals? See anything you like? Have you added any of the pieces to your Fall Shopping List like I have?

In other (not so related) news...even though the Pre-fall items are starting to hit the stores, it continues to be incredibly hot here. This is what I wore yesterday to run errands and then take my son to his Speech and Physical Therapy sessions...

That's it for now...

So what have you been up to this week? Do you have any special plans for the upcoming weekend? Please do share! I always love to hear from you! :)

  1. I love polka dots! I pickup a Lands End silk polka dot dress this spring and having been wearing it a ton since. And I'm with you on shirt dresses! Where did you get your chambray camp shirt? I've been looking for the perfect one that doesn't look too boxy, and haven't had much luck.

    1. Hi Dorothy! My shirt is the J.Crew Contrast-stitch perfect shirt from several years ago. They also made a factory version not too long ago, too. You may still be able to find either one on Ebay or ask about it on the JCA Looking To Find post.

    2. Dorothy, they still have the Factory version in the factory stores. I have it, and it is wonderful - I wear it all the time! Not boxy at all... it is actually very flattering.

  2. I love the shirtdress too and can't wait to try it on! I don't understand why more lines don't permanently carry shirtdresses? They are classic and look good on everyone.

    1. Hi straycat! I am also looking forward to trying it on, although from the measurements CS gave me this morning, it appears to be running very large in the bust area. I hope it isn't too full. I prefer a shirtdress to be more fitted on top, and then have the full skirt. Hopefully this one will be a winner! I agree that more lines should carry them. As you said...classic and look good on everyone. :)

    2. Hi FFM.....Oh gosh I hope the shirtdress isn't big in the bust....cause I'm not! HEE! I like the chest and torso to be nice and fitted with the skirt fuller. Well...we'll see. I've been looking for a nice navy shirtdress for years. They are so hard to find and then when I do they are usually too unstructured. Like big baggy men's shirts, but longer. Let's keep our fingers crossed on this one!

    3. straycat: I am also looking for a navy shirtdress that fits well and is well made, too. Let me know if you come across one, and I will do the same for you! :)

  3. I aspire to look like that first image. Sigh.

Great picks, FFM. Love the dots! I've ordered a few things to try. Like you, I think the photo print skirt looks lovely. Since the top is almost $700, I'm not holding out hope that I can afford the skirt when it debuts. I'm going to console myself by trying to convince myself it's probably too short for me anyway.

    1. Desert Flower: You and me both! That image is gorgeous, isn't it?

Please let me know how your orders work out. I'm anxious to hear how the quality will be this time around.

  4. What a wonderfully full post. I envy your computer skills and your flair. I too have my eye on the clutch, because I love the polka dots on such a tailored style. Your polyvore is smashing.

    1. Thank you KnitYarns! The polka-dot clutch is so cute. I'd love to eventually catch it on sale like I did the printed calf-hair version. :)

  5. I ordered the elephant bracelet and the Collection Long Sleeve tee in the linen/silk, I'm hoping it's a good basic. I had my suspicions about the shirtdress, it does look full through the chest which will not work on me at all.
The polka dot clutch is adorable!

    1. I'm glad you ordered the bracelet, Dani! I think it will work well with many items you have in your wardrobe, not to mention you can wear it now...no waiting for fall and cooler temps. :)

  7. Most of all I'd like to try the Collection organza sheath dress in canvas, which in my climate could be worn 9 months a year. I'm not sure when I'd wear it, but it is classic and gorgeous - and I want it :-)
I do like the zig zag sequin tee, but have to wait to see it IRL. I find many sequin tops to be itchy :-(
No dots for me, though, they're not my thing.

  9. FFM - I really love your picks AND your outfit of the day! I need to see the zig-zag tee - not sure how sequin-y it will be. I also love the black and white skirt!!!

I am now working on my fall plan. I really need a plan or I will break the bank!!!!

    1. Thank you WMM! I'm hoping that my store gets the zigzag tee in next week with its shipment of new arrivals. I'll be sure to take pictures if it does. :)

  10. Great post. The top two looks are divine, simple elegance. I'd love to get the J Crew Polka Dot shirt dress but their lack of tall sizes in their regular dresses has limited my dress purchases recently. I just bought the Boden, Riviera Shirt Dress on super sale (the Truffle Magnolia color is only $41.40). One needs to be comfortable with a big print, but the the fitted top and full skirt is flattering in a slightly stretchy and forgiving cotton. Dina over at mysuperfluities.blogspot.com (the "mothership" of Boden) did a fantastic review of it in a different print.

    1. Awakening my Wardrobe: Thank you! That second photo is Audrey Hepburn in Rome 1970...she was always so glamorous and elegant.

Congratulations on getting the Boden shirt dress! I've heard many good reviews and comments about it. I'm going to take a look at Dina's review, too. Thanks! :)
