Review: Eyelet Aurelie Shift from Anthropologie

On my latest trip to the mall, I stopped by Anthropologie to see if they had gotten in any of the items I am currently interested in, so I could try them on for size.  As I was browsing the racks, I came across the Eyelet Aurelie Shift which immediately caught my eye with its gorgeous beaded neckline and overall ethereal feel. I grabbed it in my size and headed back to the dressing room to give it a try.

The description on the website reads:

Gilt beadwork flourishes at the neckline of LeifNotes' ivory frock, while a shimmery ribbon traces the flounced hem.
  • Pullover styling
  • Cotton, viscose; polyester lining
  • Hand wash
  • 37.5"L
  • Imported
Here it is on me in the size 0...
The dress is absolutely beautiful in person, and fully lined. The beading at the neckline and ribbon-trim detail at the hem give this simple cotton dress a very luxurious and romantic feel. As you can see in the website photo at the top of this post, the dress is designed with a 'High-Low' silhouette, so the 37.5" length given in the description is actually the length at the back of the dress. The front of the dress was approximately two to three inches shorter than the back, and came close to mid-thigh on me.

I did not purchase the dress for myself, as it was a bit too short in the front for me personally (plus I'm not in need of another white dress). However, if it were the longer length of 37.5 inches all the way around (and I needed a white dress) I would have definitely considered it.  For those of you who may be interested in the dress,  it just went on sale this week, and is available for purchase on the Anthropologie website here.

Have a lovely day, and Happy Shopping! :)
xoxo,

  1. Hello FFM, What a pretty dress! It really looks great on you! I can echo your sentiments however - about length and needing (not) another white dress! White looks so great in the summer.

Thank you for all your pricing lists and updates - what a great tool. This sale has the quickest rate of price drops at JC in quite a while - don't you think? Def. makes me confident about holding out on fall items for some promo or sale!

  3. The dress looks beautiful on you and i love the way you have your hair.
    Are those waves natural?

    1. Thank you Ina! Yes, they are natural. Actually my hair is now quite curly again, but I had blown it out earlier in the day this photo was taken. I had lost all of my natural curl and waves after having all 4 of my boys, but started using WEN Cleansing Conditioner a couple months ago, and it has brought them back. Plus my hair is incredibly soft and much healthier now, too. :)

    1. Thank you Tabitha! I tan very easily, so it only takes a little bit of time outdoors each week to keep some color. I am enjoying having the curls back again. Plus now it gives me the option of either wearing it straight or curly, up or down, instead of always having to wear an updo. :)

  5. My goodness, that dress looks absolutely stunning on you! I've always admired Anthro items from afar bc the store is always jam-packed with people - will have to fight through the crowd next time to try a few things on ;)

    1. Thank you SewPetiteGal! I also used to admire the Anthro store and items from afar, but then finally decided to go in, and now I am hooked. They are one of my go-to stores for dresses now. :)

  6. That white dress is smashing on you! I agree that a fractionally longer length would make the proportions/ proprieties better. I can't quite heartily endorse the"mullet" hem. No one showcases handiwork better than Anthro. Thanks for your timely promo updates- I refer to them all the time!

    1. Thank you KnitYarns! I am not really into the Hi-Lo hems, either. There sure are a lot of them out there this year though.

Thank you again for posting the images from the new J.Crew catalog! I am really looking forward to the seeing the new arrivals online tomorrow. :)

  8. FFM - this looks amazing! On me - You would be sending "congratulations on your pregnancy" cards! I really like your hair these days, too!

I do not tan. I burn and then turn white again. I did use a lot of L'oreal self-tanner early in the season and quite liked it helped a pasty like me!

    1. Thank you WMM! My husband is half English/half German and also burns easily, as do two out of the four of my boys. My youngest takes after me and also tans easily without burning. I am English, Welsh, and Pennsylvania Dutch, with a touch of American Indian, so I suppose that little bit of Indian heritage is what makes the difference for me. :)

    1. Thank you so much, Janet! :) Well, I was blonde up until a year ago before switching back to brunette...perhaps that is why?

I really wish more lines would offer longer lengths on their dresses and skirts. It is getting quite difficult to find ones that don't hit mid-thigh or higher these days.

      Thanks for stopping by again!
