Review: Revisited Impressionist Dress

I fell in love with this dress the first moment I saw it on the Anthropologie website...the gorgeous print, beautiful colors, and ultra-feminine silhouette all made for a 'You Had Me at Hello...' moment for me.
After what has seemed like an eternity of looking at the dress online, I finally had the opportunity to see it in person last week, and have to say that it did not disappoint IRL, as the dress is absolutely stunning!

The description on the Anthropologie website reads:

Tracy Reese's silk-linen shift puts a twist on the plein-air, lily pad landscape, with a digital print and subtle scalloping at the grassy embankment.
  • Back zip
  •  Silk, linen; silk lining
  •  Dry clean
  • 37"L
  •  Imported
The dress is fully-lined and printed with a combination of flowers, sky, and greenery...oh so lovely! It is a tank-style with a nipped-in waist and fuller skirt (which actually has a thin layer of crinoline under it). I feel the dress runs TTS/slightly large, as the size 0 fit me perfectly, and I normally wear a size 0 or 2 in dresses at Anthropologie.

Of course the dress would be perfect for a party, wedding, and bridal or baby shower, but the silk/linen blend does give it a bit of a more casual feel, so besides being only a 'special event' dress, I think it could also be worn out to brunch, lunch with girlfriends, and date night with hubby.  :)

I must admit that I had a difficult time leaving this one at the store, as I do think it is such a beautiful dress, and it really fit me very well. I also love that the length is longer than many dresses I've seen with a similar style and silhouette, but the higher price tag is causing me hesitation, due to the fact I'm just not sure how many times I will have the opportunity to wear it.

What are your thoughts on the Revisited Impressionist Dress? Have you had the chance to try it on? Possibly even purchased it? Please do share! I always love to hear from you!

**Btw, hanging in the background of my photo is the Morning Story Dress which I reviewed in this post...love it!

I also want to mention (in case you don't know already) that J.Crew is offering Free Shipping on All Orders TODAY ONLY with code FOURTH at checkout. There were new Promo-priced items and markdowns today, so I've updated the Women's Promo-priced Items list here and the Men's list here.

Wishing you all a very Happy 4th of July! :)

xoxo,

  1. What restraint to leave it at the store, it is gorgeous! It looks amazing on you. Silk and linen with a silk lining and a bit of a crinoline! It sounds very well-made as well.
Happy Fourth of July to you FFM!

    2. Happy 4th FFM! First, I recently found your blog and of course, love it. Thanks much for the inspiration in so many ways!!
The Impressionist Dress looks like it was made for you! Perfect & Beautiful. And agree with DaniBP about your restraint. Saw it last week & fell immediately in love. But alas, it only goes to a 12 (usually need a 14 on top) but may return & try on since you mention it runs slightly large & I'm hoping with the way it is cut it might work. Tracy Reese items occasionally fit but still wish she would cut up to a 14. Oh well...not the end of the world. :) Truly hope you catch it on sale.
Loved Morning Story Dress on you too.
Best wishes from Boston. Hope you have a lovely day!

    3. Hello Carol, and welcome to my blog...I'm so glad you are here! :) I do think you should give the dress a try, and let me know how it turns out if you do. I keep wondering if it's even going to make it to sale in my size, as every time it comes back online it sells out again immediately. I guess only time will tell...

Thank you for stopping by and chatting! Enjoy your July 4th holiday! :)

  4. You look great in this dress. I have not seen it in stores, but it sounds quite well of gorgeous fabric. Did you get the white dress? I bet you'd get a ton of use out of that one in your warm climate. I saw it in the SF store recently and the cotton was so soft and pretty.

  9. Love the Impressionists and am very attracted to watercolor florals in clothing. This dress is beautiful and sounds like love fabrics and construction though ouch on the price. I hope you can get it at some point, it's wonderful on you.

  11. I am INSANE for this dress. Anthro has been lacking lately but knocks it out of the park with this one!
I've been a longtime fan of your blog and like you, I'm a boy mom (3 boys here.) I've recently started my own blog, and I am also a huge J.Crew/Anthro fan. I'd be so happy if you would take a look! Thank you!
