A Little This, A Little That...

Love This...

And This...

Absolutely Stunning...

This Too...

Have you seen this recent Tommy Hilfiger ad? Oh how I love both of these looks, especially the one on the brunette with the plaid coat! I would absolutely wear that in a heartbeat...gorgeous!

So...how many of you remember Rick Springfield and his song "Jessie's Girl"? How about his role as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital? Would you believe that he just turned 63 years old yesterday? I know. Me neither.

On another note...

I want to let you know that Endless.com has Jack Rogers sandals for an additional 20% off with code FASHION1 at checkout. Many of the styles are already on sale, so with the additional 20% off they are an even better deal! As most of you know, I own numerous pairs of Jack Rogers sandals and absolutely love them. If you haven't had the chance to try them, this is an excellent time to do so. The prices are fantastic, plus shipping and returns are always FREE at Endless.com. :)

Here are a few of my picks:

*Hampton Midwedge Sandal - I have numerous pairs of the JR flat sandals, but have never been able to cross the Midwedge off of my Spring shopping list until now...this morning I ordered these in Gold (for less than 50% off their original price). So excited!!!
*Zsa Zsa Jeweled Thong Sandal - I own these in both Gold (seen in this post) and Platinum (seen in this post). I absolutely ADORE these sandals, especially in the Gold, and would have gotten a back-up pair if they still had them in my size. Highly recommend! :)

In other sale related news...
J.Crew is offering up to 30% off Select sweaters for Women, Men, & Kids until 8.27.12. I have compiled a list of the sweaters that receive the additional % off for the Women here and for the Men here.

The past several weeks have been non-stop for me. The combination of two August birthdays (my oldest son and my hubby), helping to cater three events (on the first three Saturdays of this month), work, planning my school lessons for this year and tracking down the needed curriculum, along with my normal day-to-day domestic duties has left me exhausted. Honestly, if I could have just stayed in bed today, I would have happily done so! But as the saying goes..."A woman's work is never done", so I am up and at it again today. I hope to at least be able to get a little bit of R&R this coming weekend though (if all goes as planned). :)

What are you doing this weekend? Do you have anything special planned? Are you or your kiddos already back in school? If you homeschool (like we do at the Fabulous Florida Mommy household), have you started back already, or are you waiting until after Labor Day like we are? Please do share! I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

  2. I love the Tommy Hilfiger ad, that brunette's outfit is now on my recreate list. I wonder what shoes she's wearing....
No school for my kiddo. She's only three so we have another 2 years or so before she starts. We are looking forward to fall though, she's very excited to pick pumpkins and apples and go through corn mazes. She remembers the stuff we did last year and still talks about it.
This weekend will be pretty low key I think. I take kiddo to the SPCA to volunteer on Saturdays and she has riding lessons Sunday morning. Other than that I think we're sticking with typical household/garden chores.

    1. Hi jlcl119! I also plan to recreate the brunette's look. I think she is wearing a pair of cognac or camel colored knee boots with the outfit.

We are also looking forward to fall, and plan to do our first corn maze this year. I'm sure my boys will have a blast. How fun that you and your daughter get to pick apples. I would love to be able to do that...it sounds like so much fun! :)

  3. I hope you find time to put your feet up this weekend! We are going to see Bruce Springsteen tonight in Toronto, then we leave in the morning for a friend's cottage for the weekend. My husband is incredibly busy with work and wanted to cancel our cottage trip but I wouldn't let him... he is bringing work along however, oh well.
I have been very busy with my household as well. Our son is moving next week into his first apartment so I've been helping him get things organized, a big job as he is basically setting up house. Things will quiet down once he's gone, then my daughters go back to school on September 4th.
Back to school shopping is done thank goodness.
I have found this summer really tiring, I don't know about you. I'm looking forward to some quiet times and more routine in September.
Good luck getting your curriculum together! Your boys are certainly blessed to have such a wonderful Mom.

    1. Hi Dani! Your weekend sounds wonderful! How was the concert? I imagine it was a blast! :)

How exciting for your son to get his own apartment! Is he living by himself or does he have a roommate?

I did get all of my curriculum ordered, and am looking forward to the new school year. :)

    1. Hi karlene! I do want the dog walking outfit. She looks very comfy, yet incredibly chic at the same time. I also think the gold skirt is gorgeous. Oh to have a life where I could actually wear something like that! :)

  5. Hi FFM, I have a jacket from the mid-90s in the same check as that Tommy Hilfiger jacket. When I saw this ad in InStyle I decided that this weekend I'm going to take it out of storage and see if the tailor can remove the giant shoulder pads. (It was the mid-90s, so it's not like it was at the peak of the shoulder pad trend, but still, they are huge!)

I am back to school this week in a different sense--I am taking one day a week off from my real job to teach a graduate school seminar. This is my second year of doing so. It has been very challenging, but I do get 15% off FP at JC with my educator discount!

Good luck with your curriculum and these last days of summer!

    1. Hi Hexicon! Please do let me know how your jacket from the 90's turns out from the tailor. I often come across lovely jackets at the vintage shops with the large shoulder pads, and will consider picking one up next time if the shoulder issue is a simple fix at the tailor. :)

I hope your class is going well this week, and YAY for the educator discount!

  6. Oh, and because I can remember the relative sizes of shoulder pads in the 80s and 90s you can be sure that I remember "Jessie's Girl"!

  7. Can I just tell you how much I loved Rick Springfield. I went to a concert of his when I was in college and absolutely drooled when was on General Hospital. He was a hottie! My boys are back in school and their schedules don't line up so there are a lot of logistics to work out so I don't spend the next 2 years in my car. Thankfully they like their schools and we've had a smooth start.
It sounds like you need a little "me" time this weekend - I hope you find yourself some fun.

    1. Hi Julie! Yes, I agree, Rick Springfield was quite a hottie! He still looks pretty good these days, IMO (especially for being 63). Did you know he is from Australia?

I hope your week of chauffeuring is going well, and that your boys are enjoying school this year! :)

  8. Love the Hilfiger ad and yes, I definitely remember Rick Springfield - although it's frightening to think he's 63 - because of course that means I'm aging too! We homeschool as well and started back a week ago - we usually start mid-August because we like to take a week off mid-September before my husband's work gets super-busy. Pleased to report we've had a good, productive first full week of school - I'm ready to relax a bit this weekend as well. Hopefully - you can do the same! enjoy a quiet and restful weekend!

    1. Hi Elizabeth! YAY for a productive first week of school! That is always a wonderful way to start off the school year! :) The boys and I are looking forward to starting back to school again. I'm really excited about our curriculum this year, and think they are really going to enjoy the school year more than they usually do.

  9. FFM, it's not good if we are remembering that! It seems like yesterday!!! And remember John Stamos as Blackie??? He's getting up there too!

    1. Hi Nantucket Daffodil! Yes, it does seem like it was just yesterday that they were on the show! I haven't watched in a very long time, but have heard that some of the same characters from back then are still on the show now. My mom watched it when I was a little girl, and I can still remember Richard Dean Anderson (who later played MacGyver) as Dr. Jeff Webber way back then.

  10. What a pretty gold sweater and shimmery skirt! Your chosen images are more attractive than the new Vogue I just bought. The only thing I wanted from the first 200 pages was the butler in the Jones NY ad!

    1. Hi Lane! Isn't that gold sweater and shimmery skirt absolutely lovely? How fun it would be to have a lifestyle where wearing that would be necessary! :)

  11. Thank you so much for the tip on the Jack Rogers sandals. I have been resisting summer sales because I am not sure how well this year's trends will hold up next year, but I know Jack will always be in style! I too bought the Hampton Midwedge, but in silver. Perfect with pretty much any of my summer dresses!

    1. You're welcome Danielle! I'm glad you were able to pick up a pair of the Jack Rogers at that amazing price. Like you said, they will always be in style, so purchasing them now in anticipation of wearing them next year is really a smart decision. :)

  12. FFM, I can always count on you to inspire me. Like you, I live in a warm climate and am a long way from cool fall weather. I love seeing things like the Hilfiger picture though, such great textures and colors. It gives me ideas! Thank you.

    1. Thank you Desert Flower! I went through my closet again this weekend to edit it even more, and put together a very similar outfit to the one in the ad with items I already own. Now I really hope it cools down early this year. :)

  13. I hope to begin crafting for Mini G's first birthday. I've hit the Dollar Tree & just need to do JoAnn's and Michael's for a couple more things. I am doing a great job of delegating in advance. Instead of having people ask me what they can do to help on the day of the party, I'm assigning 'duties.' I've put one friend in charge of cake cutting, my sister behind the camera and so on. Everyone has responded positively. A big step for me to ask for & accept help, and not try to do it all. If you can delegate, do it! ;)

You need the 10 lb Sept Vogue issue and some FFM time!

    1. Hi Gigi! I can hardly believe that Mini G is almost one! Time goes by so quickly, doesn't it?

The weekend didn't allow for much 'me' time, but I did at least get to do another closet edit that I've been looking forward to. :)

  14. I'm glad you mentioned the Tommy Hilfiger ads. I picked up the Sept. issues of a few mags and not surprisingly Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren were my favorite ads as well as clothing. I love that "old money" look! My local Macy's carries a small amount of Hilfiger, but I sure wish I knew where to buy more of it. The website I guess.....too bad I'm not as familiar with sizing like I am with JCrew. I'd like to see JCrew doing more design like Tommy and Ralph. I'll be using Tommy and Ralph ads as inspiration for upcoming outfits.

    1. Hi straycat! I also love the "old money" look! Ralph Lauren has always been one of my favorites, and I love the 'lifestyle' he sells (even if I don't live it). Tommy Hilfiger's line has been getting more and more interesting over the past couple of years, and I absolutely love his ad campaigns. I am going to recreate the brunette's look this fall with items already in my closet...now I just need the weather to cooperate! :)

  15. Hi FFM!

That is funny, as on the train yesterday down to the house we are renting, finally had time to read Vogue and Harper's Bazaar on my iPad! I was really drawn to the Hilfiger ads and as you may have seen, just did a post on my love of Ralph Lauren. I am going to actually seriously look more at Ralph this fall, as I think he may be doing elegant a bit better than jcrew these days, but will let you know what I think when I arrive home next weekend and finally see all that I ordered in last week!

    Take good care of yourself!

  16. Hi ladies! Thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments! My hubby and I actually ended up spending most of the weekend preparing for the tropical storm (now a hurricane) that threatened to come our way. Plus I've been cleaning and organizing like a mad woman because I like for everything to be in good order when I start schooling the boys. Not a very restful past few days, but I do feel better knowing that the clutter that was building up again is gone. :)
