A Little This, A Little That...

Love This...

And This...

Absolutely Stunning...

This Too...

If I had a little girl, I would absolutely dress her in this...

However, since I have all boys, they dress more like this (in winter)...

And this. Well, at least the youngest three agree to some of the time... ;)

Speaking of my boys...

We officially started our school year this past Monday, and so far everything is going really well. I use the Charlotte Mason Method, and this year we are studying Early Modern Times, Latin, and Character Building, as well as Grammar, Mathematics, Spelling, etc. I will be renewing our annual pass to the local Science Center, where we will visit several times a month, and we will also attend numerous Children's Theatre Performances (aka theatre shows for 'young' audiences) over the course of the year, such as "Chasing George Washington" and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." There will also be fun and informative Field Trips taken throughout the school year, as well. This is definitely a busy time of year for me, so if I am slow to respond to comments or stop by the blogs I normally frequent...this is the reason why. Please know that I do read each and every comment left for me, and I truly appreciate each one of them. :)

As I said in this post yesterday...I want to say a big THANK YOU for all the kind words and well wishes for a speedy recovery from my back injury that so many of you left for me last week. I spent all of last week resting in bed, and do feel much better this week. I have even been able to get back to doing most of my normal daily routine. Thank you again to all who stopped by to share your kind thoughts...I truly appreciate each and every one of you! :)

That's it for now...

So what have you been up to this week? Do you have any special plans for the upcoming weekend? Please do share! I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

  1. Your school year sounds like it will be amazing. I am so impressed that you are teaching your boys Latin! I learned quite a bit of Latin when I was studying philosophy and it is quite fun.
I've been looking over J Crew's new arrivals and not finding anything to like, quite unbelievable for me. I did order some things for my husband as I am still very pleased with the men's line, the quality is great and the prices are still reasonable.
I love that little girl's outfit, oh I'll have to show that to my younger daughter!
I hope you are still taking it easy somewhat, I know you're busy but we have to be so careful with back injuries. Take care of yourself!

    1. Hi Dani! Yes, the boys are really excited for school this year, and are especially enjoying their Latin studies.

I have still been taking it easy somewhat this week, as I don't want to re-injure my back and end up laid in bed again. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts...they are very much appreciated! :)

  2. I love all skirts and coats that pouf out, it's such an easy silhouette to wear and so flattering.
Latin was my favourite subject at school, ther eis something so comforting about that language.

    1. I agree Tabitha! Not to mention that the silhouette is ultra feminine, as well. The boys are really enjoying their Latin studies so far. I really hope they continue to do so in years to come, too.

  3. The striped coat reminds me of the Loft Corded Dobby Striped Trench that was reviewed by Chloe, Rynetta, and many others.

    1. Oh me too, Mei! I have actually contemplated the one from Loft a couple of times myself. It really is very cute!

  4. Love the picture of Carmen Dell'Orefice - the Today Show did a piece on her the other day. She is so classy!

    1. Hi silver_lining! The picture of her is absolutely gorgeous, isn't it? I missed that piece about her on the Today show. Hopefully it will be available online somewhere. I would love to see it!

  5. Glad your back is better.

I love that first outfit so much. Where I live I would only be able to wear it a few days each year. And then likely only until noon :)

    1. Thank you Desert Flower! :)

I love that first outfit, too. I was just telling my mother earlier today that my own favorite wardrobe pieces really need me to live in a colder climate so that they can be worn as much as they deserve to be, and as much as I want to wear them. Maybe some day...

  6. oh, I'm so glad your back's better, that's misery in the purest sense of the word!

We once looked at a charming house that had been custom-built for a high-school Latin teacher, it looked just like the little Domus in the Latin 1 book. Unfortunately it had no closets, no garage, no basement... Had to drag Himself away,he kept saying "but we could be famous as the oldest people ever to have toga parties!"

Oh the house does sound charming! Too bad about the lack of closets, garage, and basement though. I do have to say that Himself sounds very entertaining, and like quite a character. Your life must not have too many dull moments. :)

  7. Glad you're feeling better, FFM! Love your inspiration pics--esp. the first one! Plus, I have a weakness for pugs. :) I used to homeschool my kids and we used Charlotte Mason, too! Love the gentle approach. It was perfect for my dd, especially. Best wishes on your school year! :)

Isn't that first picture absolutely beautiful? I would love to have the entire outfit.

Charlotte Mason has been working really well for us, and I love that we can do several of the subjects together as a family, too.
