A Little This, A Little That...

Love This...

And This...

Absolutely Stunning...

This Too...

How are you coming along with your Fall Shopping List? I have been able to check several of the items off of mine so far, including the J.Crew Collection Viv calf hair flats (in the Black/White colorway), J.Crew Biennial medium satchel in calf hair, and J.Crew Double-breasted schoolboy blazer in Navy, which happens to be back online now with an additional colorway added.

Since I am in need of Long-sleeve tees this year, I decided to give the Essential long-sleeve crewneck Tee from GAP a try once again during one of their 30% of promotions, and am glad I did. The quality is very good, the material is not thin, the fit is flattering, and the basic colors I chose will work well with my current wardrobe. It has been warm here so I haven't been able to wear them yet, but do anticipate that they will hold up well in the wash (as did the ones I had a few years ago). I happen to like them so much that I also ordered the Short-sleeve version with the most recent promo GAPEARLY which gave 30% off yesterday and Wednesday, but has now decreased to 25% off until the end of today (still a good deal though).

As I'm sure most of you know, J.Crew debuted New Arrivals on their website here yesterday...see anything you like? There are not any 'must haves' for me this time around, but I do think the Collection tweed topcoat looks rather nice. I'm not sure if it is a new arrival this week or not, but I do quite like it.

In other J.Crew news...as reported on J.Crew Aficionada yesterday, the J.Crew Brick and Mortars are currently offering an Extra 30% off all their sale merchandise. This means that the Promo-Priced items are also eligible for the extra % off, and usually tend to be the same items in-store as they are online. If not, then I would suggest asking the SA to match the online price and apply the discount as well. I have updated the Women's and Men's Promo-priced items lists this week, and you can see them here and here, respectively. Also, there is Free Shipping on ANY ORDER with code FREESHIP until 10.21.12.

If you also happen to be interested in doing some sale shopping at other retailers this weekend, there are several Friends & Family Events taking place...

Kate Spade: Enjoy 30% Off with code F12FFUS at checkout until 10.21.12. Click here to shop.

Vince.: Enjoy 20% Off with code VINCE2012FF at checkout until 10.21.12. Click here to shop.

Saks Fifth Avenue: Enjoy 20% Off Apparel, Shoe, & Accessories or 15% off Jewelry with code FRNFAM2 at checkout until 10.21.12. (exclusions apply, see site for details). Click here to shop.

So...what are your plans for this weekend? Not too terribly much going on here this time around. Family movie night. Hubby and my eldest will be doing yardwork. I will more than likely make my trek to the market once again to fill the kitchen cabinets in order to keep my growing boys fed. Who would have ever thought that boys could eat so much? Oh, I had heard the stories from other mothers with boys, and now I know from experience that those stories are all true! Plus only one of them is a teenager...just imagine what my grocery shopping will be like once my three littlest become teenage boys. I really need to start the garden I've been planning for the past year (or two)!

That's it for now...

So what have you been up to this week? Do you have any special plans for the weekend? Please do share...I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

  1. That pantsuit look is so chic.

I hit several of those sales, mostly because I found things on my fall list and I had gift cards to use. A little extra popped up on the Saks sale. They've marked down all Dianne Von Furstenberg by 25% and you can add the 20% friends and family discount on top of that!

    Enjoy your weekend.

    1. I love the pantsuit too, Desert Flower. I would wear something like that. :)

The DVF 25% off combined with the F&F is such a great deal. What did you end up getting?

    1. Hi phiphi! I did size up in the Viv flats from a 9.5 to a 10.

Congrats on your DVF wrap dress! I'm sure it's going to look gorgeous on you! :)

  3. I can't wait to see how you like the double-breasted blazer! My fall/winter list is pretty much fulfilled. I've ordered and brought home several things that I continue to mull over. A couple items were returned b/c I found some old-school J.Crew items on ebay that are simliar so much better in quality, not to mention bargain priced! My latest purchase might just be my favorite, the pave link necklace. It's absolutely gorgeous and will be my new every-day piece. I luckily had a 20% off coupon, but it was still quite pricey. That said, now that I picked that one up, I think my buying will be more sparse these next couple of months!

    1. Hi M! Oh, I love the double-breasted blazer, but then I knew I would, as I had tried it on in the store a couple months back. I actually received my jacket awhile ago, but haven't had the opportunity to wear it yet since it's been so warm here. Soon though, hopefully!

It sounds like you've found some great deals lately! I am also interested in the pavé link necklace. Is it heavy at all? I hope you'll post pics if you get the chance. :)

  4. Love all these links!!

As you know - my list idea was only partially effective, due mostly to me, and to no one else. Fortunately, I am a cheerful sort and have bucked up!!

You probably saw I got a couple of the Kate Spade books clutches. Both are Christmas gift (one is from my dad to me the other from us to my daughter) That will be a treat to look forward to in December!

This weekend will be restful I hope. It has been a long week and I am hoping to get a good night's sleep!

Am glad you found that poor son that I lost on you! And yes, boys are indeed expensive to feed!

    1. Hi WMM! Yes, I did see that you got the Kate Spade book clutches. Your daughter is going to love hers, and we both know that you will love yours, too! They are just so adorable, I wouldn't mind having one for myself. :)

Yes, I did find my son that you had lost. Thankfully he was able to fend for himself and didn't starve while unable to raid my kitchen cabinets. ;)

  5. I always love these posts FFM. I am very tempted by the Kate Spade sale but trying to resist. I love their silk dresses, the leopard print in the brown I purchased has been getting constant wear, it's great for during the day with a cardigan and for going out. I love the flair skirts on them and the knee length.
I notice a huge difference in my grocery shopping with my son at University. I rarely have to go. It's interesting too, now that he is in his own apartment cooking is a big part of his life, thank goodness he was open to learning how to cook from the age of about 9, he has many great skills (and his girlfriend can't cook a thing!) I often get a text from him with recipe questions at about 5pm, it's very cute.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you so much, Dani! I have not purchased anything from the Kate Spade sale either. There are plenty of things that I love, but I'm not getting any of them right now.

How wonderful that your son can cook! My oldest is learning to cook several different things, as well. DH and I want to make sure he has plenty of skills to take care of himself when he graduates high school in a few years. I think it is so cute that your son texts you with recipe questions. It sounds as if the two of you are still very close. :)

  7. I hear you with boys and eating. My little guy is not even 2 yet and he eats more than me on a daily basis. In fact, I'm off to make pancakes for him and The Husband.

I'm loving everything in the new J. Crew catalogue, especially the lustre lace mockneck and the sequins polka-dot tee. Two completely overpriced and impractical shirts for a toddler momma.

Thank you so much for your blog!! Love it.

P.S. Your little boy is adorable! He shares the same name as my oldest son, too. Actually, that is my son's middle name, but the one he goes by. :)

  8. Hi FFM, like always, I love those posts!
How do you find your GAP tshirt a fitting comparing to jcrew perfect fit tees? I wanted to order couple scoop necks and ls vnecks.

    1. Thanks ajc! I find the sizing on the GAP tees to be the same as at J.Crew. I normally take an XSmall at J.Crew, and that is the size I ordered my GAP tees in. They are nicely fitted, but not too tight.

  9. Always love these posts - lots of eye candy! I'm very tempted by some DVF at Saks - but I keep asking myself "do I really need it?" Ah - the dreaded voice of reason! My 3 boys eat non-stop (10 year old twins and a 12 year old) as well! hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thanks Elizabeth! Which DVF pieces are you looking at? Did you find any good dresses for our stay-at-home modern day June Cleaver aesthetic? I haven't had much luck finding any that fit the bill. Let me know if you have! :)

  10. I love the lustre lace mockneck tee in the navy, so cute. Is there a system to when J.Crew does markdowns or second cuts? Do you think the 30% off promo will move online to make room for the new arrivals?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi SarahV! I believe that J.Crew does in-store markdowns on Wednesdays, and that seems to be the case more and more online, too. Also, anytime there is a new rollout we see new additions to the sale section, as well. I do think that the in-store 30% off will move to online soon...possibly even tomorrow. Fingers crossed on that one! :)
