A Little This, A Little That...

Love This...

And This...

Absolutely Stunning...

This Too...

One of my all-time favorite movies...The Princess Bride. What about you? Have you seen it?

Speaking of favorites...

Not too much longer now...January 6th, to be exact. Are you anxiously awaiting the return of the series like I am?

On another note...J.Crew is offering FREE SHIPPING on ALL ORDERS with code FREESHIP at checkout until 12.30.12. As of 12.27.12, the code BOXING30 also works for an Extra 30% off Promo-Priced & Final Sale items, but cannot be combined with the FREESHIP code. However, if your order is $175+ (after the 30% is applied), you will still get free shipping, along with the discount when using the BOXING30 code. J.Crew has also done a 'switch-up' on the Promo-priced items this week...a lot of new items have been marked to promo-price, while others have gone back to regular-price or marked down to sale price (now making them final sale). I have updated the Women's list here, and you can see the Men's list here.

So how was your Christmas? Was Santa Claus good to you this year? We had a very happy LEGO Christmas for the most part at our house again this year, and the 3 youngest boys were thrilled, to say the least. Here are just a handful of the creations they have built so far. There are still more yet to come though...

Can you believe another year has almost passed? Where did the time go?

Do you have any special plans for New Year's Eve? Are you a party goer, or do you usually ring in the New Year at home? We will more than likely celebrate at home with family and friends this year. If the weather cooperates and it cools down again, we may be able to have a bonfire, roast marshmallows, and watch the fireworks displays from the local area attractions (Disney World, Universal Studios, etc) that all shoot off at once when the New Year arrives. It is quite a display, especially seeing them light up the night sky all at the same time.

From the Kitchen...

If you are not yet in dessert overload from all the Holiday festivities so far, or need a new one to make for New Year's Eve, I have an extremely delicious and decadent dessert to share with you.

It's called the Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar, and it is a chocolate lover's paradise! My sister discovered the recipe on Pinterest and made it for one of our family Christmas parties this year...yummy, yummy, YUMMY!!! You can see the original version here, and the recipe is as follows:

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 pkg Double Stuffed Oreos
1 Family Size (9×13) Brownie mix
1/4 cup hot fudge topping

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream the butter and both sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes.
  •  Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well to thoroughly combine.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt, then slowly incorporate into the mixer until the flour is just combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Spread the cookie dough in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish that’s been lined with wax paper and sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Top with a layer of Oreos.
  • Mix together brownie mix, adding an optional 1/4 cup of hot fudge topping to the mix.
  • Pour the brownie batter over the cookie dough and Oreos.
  • Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
  • Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 15-25 minutes.
  • Let cool completely before cutting — brownies may still be gooey in the middle when still warm, but will set up perfectly once cooled. Enjoy!!

To half this recipe for an 8×8 brownie mix, simply half the chocolate chip cookie dough ingredients.

That's it for now...I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Do you have anything fun and exciting planned? Just going to relax at home? Please do share! I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

And yes, I am anxiously awaiting Downton Abbey!! Cannot wait! And I love the Princess Bride!

Must figure out how to get invited somewhere were we can wear tulle dresses in 2013, FFM...

As for the dessert - you had me at chocolate chip...

New Years Eve will be quiet here - likely just champers and snacks. I will be happy to ring in a new year.

    1. Hi WMM! Maybe we should through our own party to wear the dresses to! That way we can choose the dress code, and be sure that we are not overdressed for the event. :)

I know how you love chocolate, so you must try the dessert...you will LOVE it! :)

  3. I remember the Lego and the pain of stepping on it too! My son loved it and it was so good for his mind as well, your boys must be both busy and bright.
Yummy dessert! I can't wait for Downton Abbey. We've been watching Jeeves and Wooster and it's hilarious! I have to say I love the clothes in it as well.
We were planning to go out to a fancy dinner, 8 courses with wines etc but I think we will stay in, we are just feeling like being at home this year. We are having some elderly neighbours in for drinks on Monday afternoon and that might be the extent of our party!
    Have a terrific weekend FFM!

    1. Hi Dani! Yes, the Legos are extremely painful to step on, and seem to make there way to every room of the house somehow, too.

I had not heard of Jeeves and Wooster, but am always looking for a new series to watch. It sounds quite entertaining, so I will be putting it on my must watch list now.

      Enjoy your weekend! :)
