Review: Dooney & Bourke Python Embossed Leather Small Satchel

Dooney & Bourke Python Embossed Leather Small Satchel in Black

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well, and enjoying your weekend! Today I have another review to share with you! Some of you may remember when I first blogged about the Dooney & Bourke Python Satchel in my 'Yes Please!!!' post here back in November. Well, I did end up ordering the handbag during a Friends & Family event that Belk ran at the end of that month, and even though it was absolutely gorgeous, I returned it because it was a bit too large for me. Instead, I chose to try the smaller version (mine came from QVC on their Easy Pay plan), and have to say that it is equally divine.

The description from the QVC website reads:

Get your hands on this haute look--for yourself, or for the fashionista on your list! The perfectly posh satchel is done in python-embossed leather with solid leather detailing for cool contrast. Double handles and a removable, convertible shoulder strap lend versatility to the luxe design. From Dooney & Bourke.
  • Python-embossed design; double handles; removable, convertible shoulder strap; leather embossed logo plate on the front; solid leather trim and detailing; bottom feet; top-zip closure
  • Lined interior with back zip and slip pockets, leather logo plate, cell phone pocket, front-wall snap pocket, suede trim along the top, key leash
  • Measures approximately 11-1/2"W x 10"H x 5"D with 6" handles and 23" to 25" strap drop; weighs approximately 2 lbs, 6 oz
  • Body/trim 100% leather; lining 100% cotton
  • Made in China

Here is a picture of the bag IRL taken without the camera flash. As you can see, the color is slightly different than the online image above, but I do not find this to be an issue, as the colors IRL are beautiful.

The bag has double handles, goldtone hardware, tassles on each side of the bag, and opens at the top with a zipper.

There are shades of grey, black, navy, brown, and cognac throughout the soft and supple python embossed leather.

Lovely red and green lining in the bag...

Feet on the bottom...

So pretty with the Mossimo® Kailyn Leather Heeled Buckle Boots from Target... IRL they are an almost perfect match in color.

A few styling options...

The Dooney & Bourke Python Embossed Leather Small Satchel is a wonderfully crafted handbag made of soft, supple leather, in beautiful color combinations...an investment piece to be treasured and carried for many years to come.

  1. Hello my bag twin! I love the last set and have totally imagined it with the charcoal sterling skirt too. Black turtlenecks and black skirt and loose flowing black coats with stilettos are my fantasy outfit with this one! Hope to see a picture of you when you take it out for a spin! I'm so glad you posted these polyvores to bring the bag a little back down to reality (vs my fantasy) for me!

    1. Hi maqsad! I hope you are enjoying your bag! It is gorgeous, isn't it? I love your fantasy outfits, and would happily wear them with the bag if given the chance. :)

  2. I love this. I bet you look so chic when you wear this bag with your outfits. :)

Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday. I hope your holidays were very merry, as well!!!

So I recently saved up to buy the Pashli Satchel (3.1 Phillip Lim) in aubergine. I never imagined I would ever buy a truly expensive purse, but I couldn't stop thinking about the bag, so I think that was my sign. I am planning on wearing it during January and February. (I like to have one bag as my main bag for a month or so at a time.)

Belk. (Modern. Southern. Style!) I rarely shop there, but whenever we head to MS for Thanksgiving, I definitely go there at least a couple of times since Mr. Dina's family lives within a mile of one. Our closest Belk here in VA is in Fredericksburg, which is about forty miles away. I bought a white bubble necklace at Belk last time I went. For way less money than it costs at J. Crew. :)

I actually posted photos of the bag and the necklace just now at this post--I think it is serendipity that you blogged about both "sought after" bags and Belk today. ;)

    1. Thank you Dina! Belk is always a great place to find cute things at fantastic prices. They also have a really nice men's Big & Tall department, which is what my hubby needs, so I shop for him there on a regular basis, too.

Your new bag sounds gorgeous! I will be by soon to see it! :)

  5. I normally wouldn't carry a python print bag, BUT this one is gorgeous and would dress up more neutral outfits. Love all three styling sets.

  6. I love that bag. I'm big on textures, I think they bring so much visual interest to an outfit. This is a real statement while also being neutral enough to carry frequently.

    1. Thank you Desert Flower! I do love that the bag is a neutral that can be carried regularly, plus it will go with numerous outfits already in my closet...a win/win, as they say. :)
