Review: Mossimo® Kailyn Leather Buckle Boot

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well, and enjoying your weekend! Today I have a 'Fabulous Find' to share with you! I recently ordered the Mossimo® Kailyn Leather Heeled Buckle Boots from Target, and have been wearing them repeatedly ever since. Not only do they look much better IRL, but they are genuine leather, and extremely comfortable to wear, too. :)

The description on the Target website reads:

Kick up your heels in style with these genuine leather Kailyn boots. The full side zip allows for easy on and off, while the faux stacked heel provides a little extra height. Decorative buckle straps complete these charming boots.

Sizing: Junior
Features: Tagless Footbed, Adjustable Straps
Shoe Details: Decorative Straps
Boot Style: Knee-High
Boot Shaft Height: Approximately 15"
Boot Shaft Circumference: Approximately 15"
Upper Material: Genuine Leather
Outsole Material: Thermoplastic Rubber
Insole Material: Man-Made Materials
Lining Material: Textile
Sole Style: Non-Skid Tread on Toe and Heel
Closure Style: Side Zipper
Toe Style: Round Toe
Heel: Approximately 2" Faux Stacked

(You can see the boot on the website here).

Here is a picture of them IRL taken without the camera flash. The color is more of a cognac/chestnut brown in person, and quite a bit darker than the online photo. This is what I was expecting and actually hoping for after reading the online reviews.

The color is almost a perfect match to the smallest spots on the J.Crew Wildcat Cardigan...

I wore the cardigan and boots with my black Modern Sleek a-line skirt from Banana Republic, and J.Crew Men's Roughed Out Leather belt that I purchased for myself several years ago (which is also a near perfect match).

12.5.12

Another outfit I've worn with the boots is my Gap Favorite long-sleeve crewneck T in black, AG Tomboy Jeans, J.Crew Roughed out leather belt, and J.Crew Paisley Printed scarf in 'Dark Pumpkin' from 2011 (which I blogged about previously here and here.)

12.3.12

As I mentioned before, the boots are EXTREMELY comfortable to wear. In fact, I have worn them numerous times to run errands, plus a couple of times to take an evening walk with husband, and have not experienced any discomfort whatsoever.

The 2" heel height is perfect for giving a bit of lift, and the full-length zipper makes them easy to get on and off. I initially ordered two sizes: my 'normal' shoe size of 9.5, and also a size 10, since some of the reviews said the calves of the boots ran small. I have large, muscular calves that often times do not fit well in boots that are not extended calf, but I could easily put on both the 9.5 and 10 in the Kailyn Boots. In the end though, I decided to keep the size 10, because while the calves of the 9.5 did fit, they felt more snug than they did in the size 10. Knowing that I can always add an insert to the size 10's if my feet feel as if they are slipping, I went for the most comfortable fit for my calves.

All in all I would say the Mossimo® Kailyn Leather Heeled Buckle Boots are a definite winner, and a really great deal for the price, too...highly recommend! :)

That's it for now...have a lovely day!

xoxo,

  2. I love those boots.
They're a re-release from last year, I was able to get them last January for about $16! I'm glad they brought them out again and I'm happy you like them.
I also have muscular calves and was able to stick with my normal size 7. They started snug but comfy and ended up being perfect after they stretched and dropped a bit.

    1. Hi jlcl119! I remember seeing the boots online last year, but had already purchased a couple pair of La Canadienne boots, so I passed them up. Now I wish I hadn't waited so long! They really are as wonderful as all the reviews say they are!

I cannot believe you got yours for $16! Congratulations...that is such a fantastic deal! :)

  3. Target! Who would have known! I really like how you have styled them. I recently found my new "grail" boots at TJ Maxx. I love the look of Ralph Lauren and Coach boots, but they are so expensive. I found a pair of Ellen Tracy cognac leather boots at TJ Maxx for $99.99. They look so like Ralph's riding boots, but without the big price tag. I've been wearing them non stop, since it's been raining horribly here. They also match really well with a Ralph Lauren bag I bought recently. I love when that happens!

    1. Hi straycat! Yes, Target!!! I picked up a couple pair of boots there for a fantastic deal the year before last, and they are all leather, too. It really does pay to check the shoe section when you are there shopping. You never know what fabulous find you may come across!

Your Ellen Tracy boots sound gorgeous, and such a fantastic price, too! My local TJ Maxx rarely has any good deals anymore, so I rarely visit. As far as matching your bag and boots...you are a kindred spirit, as I also love it when that happens! :)

  7. What a wonderful review. I especially like the styling ideas. My problem with boots is my skinny calves. Everything is too big. Thank good ness for the advent of stretch leather, although for the life of me I can't figure out how that's made.

    1. Thank you Desert Flower! Well, I must say that I would much rather have the problem of skinny calves rather than large calves, but it sounds as if it is just as frustrating for you when it comes to finding boots as it is for me. Did you find a pair of stretch leather boots that fit you?

  8. Totally just bought this boots! Thank you for the great review. It is very nice to see pictures of the actual boots/outfits. It's really hard to find nice quality "cheap" boots. I needed some brown ones and wasn't ready to buy another pair of Frye's this year. Thank you for what you do!

  9. Thank you so much for the review. I bought the boots after reading your review and absolutely love them!! Wore them all day today for this first time to finish up christmas shopping and they are so comfortable. I really like that they are much more snug around my calf then my other pair of brown boots. Thanks again!
