A Little This, A Little That...

Love This...

And This...

Absolutely Stunning...

This Too...

Love these images of Marion Cotillard at the 18th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards...doesn't she look absolutely lovely? Such a beautiful dress, too. Do you like it?

Speaking of lovely...did you watch the Season 3 premiere of Downton Abbey this past Sunday? What did you think? I was so happy to see Matthew Crawley and Lady Mary finally get married, but wish they would have shown more of the ceremony. I did absolutely love that blue ensemble she had on as her traveling outfit for after the wedding, though.

The storyline seemed to drag just a bit in the first episode, IMO, but I did still quite enjoy it, and really look forward to the second episode this coming Sunday. The Dowager Countess of Grantham was absolutely enjoyable, as always, and continues to be my favorite at Downton Abbey, with Lady Mary Crawley and Mr. Carson coming in a close second and third. Who is your favorite character at Downton?

In shopping-related news...J.Crew is offering an extra 30% off Final Sale items with code STYLEFIND at checkout until 1.20.13. The Promo-Priced Items also receive the 30% discount but are NOT Final Sale...gotta love that! J.Crew has done a 'switch-up' on the Promo-priced items this week...a lot of new items have been marked to promo-price, while others have gone back to regular-price or marked down to sale price (now making them final sale). I have updated the Women's list which you can see here, and the Men's list here.

Are you shopping the sale? I did take advantage of the extra % off to order the
Double-cloth lady day coat with Thinsulate® in basic Black. The last time I traveled up north in the winter I had to borrow a coat, so I decided that at this price I will get a coat in a classic silhouette and color to have for any future trips I need to take over the next several years. Plus it isn't final sale. :)

On another note...yesterday was my second born son's 9th birthday, so I spent a good part of the day running last minute errands, baking his cake, and decorating for the party we had for him in the late afternoon. I still have a hard time believing he is getting so big...seems like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital. As I've said before, when I first had children, other moms would tell me that I should enjoy the time with them while they are little, because before I knew it, they would be all grown up. You know what? Those moms were right...time really DOES pass by so quickly! It may not seem that way when you are sleep deprived and overwhelmed caring for a new little person, kissing the scraped knee of one just learning to walk, keeping little hands out of everything they aren't supposed to be touching, and even dealing with temper tantrums at times, but trust me...those days will be gone before you know it. Please try your best to enjoy every moment...you will not regret it! :)

So what are your plans for the weekend? We will be taking our birthday boy out for lunch and a movie, attending church service, and I will be getting my hair trimmed, hitting the market to restock the pantry and frig again, and watching the second episode of Downton Abbey Season 3 (of course).

That's it for now...I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Do you have anything fun and exciting planned? Just going to relax at home? Please do share! I always love to hear from you! :)

xoxo,

  1. Lovely images FFM. I have almost identical pieces to the first image, I must try that sweater with black skinnies. Happy birthday to your 9 year old! Those other moms, and you, are quite right about the speed with which they grow and change. That time literally flies.

The weekend is going to be very cold here, temps in the 20s and 30s! I think I'll stay in, do some tidying around the house and maybe bake something. There is so much of the year that we don't want to turn the oven on and heat up the house, this is a rare opportunity. Now I need to think of which treat to make.

    Enjoy your weekend, FFM.

    1. Thanks Desert Flower! How wonderful that you are getting such cold temps this weekend! It will still be sweltering here, unfortunately. Enjoy your baking time...let me know what you decide to make! :)

  4. Happy birthday to your little one! Mine turns 5 in a couple weeks and that's hard to believe -- it does go quickly! My favorite characters of Downton are the same as yours -- loved to see the moment when she came down the stairs to see her father and Carson. :)

    1. Thanks m! Oh yes, I loved it when Mary came down the stairs, too! Her dress was absolutely lovely, wasn't it? Enjoy your weekend! I hope all is going well with your packing up! :)

  5. I think I need that second outfit. Never in my life did I think I would want a pair of leopard pants! Happy birthday to your little man! I have 5 and it just goes faster with each one- It's just too fast. My oldest girl is starting to borrow my clothes- I can't believe that. I haven't gotten to see the whole DA episode yet, but I just love each character more and more. Carson has been my fav from the beginning, but I love to hate Thomas! As a "recovered" actor, I can't get enough of his scenes- what a masterclass!

    1. Hi kiwigem, and thank you for the birthday wishes for my son! I also really like that second outfit with the leopard pants. I tried on a pair of the safari cat capri pants at J.Crew this past summer, and they did nothing for me, unfortunately. I would be willing to try on the ones in the pic above though...just in case they might flatter my 'athletic' thighs. ;)

How interesting that you were an actor! Do you miss it, or ever plan to go back and start doing it again?

    2. How funny, people always ask me that. The boring truth is I don't miss it, or at least I can't relate to that life anymore. At the end of a day with my kids, I have definitely "left it all on the field." I can't imagine summoning the emotional energy for a performance! Maybe when we're empty nesters. :-) I still enjoy seeing the craft done well, though. Hooray for BBC programming!

    3. Well, it is never to late to go back to it, so I think if it is something you want to do when you are an empty nester, you definitely should! :) Btw, my husband and I absolutely love BBC programming, too!

  6. I completely agree about Downton Abbey! They could have at least shown more of the ceremony and/or the celebration at the house after.

I love the first sweater with the leather patches on the arms!

    1. Hi LR! I know, what a disappoint! Especially after waiting 2 seasons for them to finally get engaged! I wonder if there is a missing scene out there somewhere that shows the rest of it? I definitely want to see it, if there is!

I also love that first sweater! The entire look is just so 'clean', understated, and effortlessly chic. :)

  8. Love these looks!

Happy 9th to your son! How awesome!

I love Marion Cotillard - she is so lovely! My favourite part pd DA the other night was Shirley singing Let Me Call You Sweetheart to Maggie Smith! I laughed out loud!

    1. Thanks WMM! :)

Shirley played her entire role extremely well, didn't she? I'm glad she was chosen to play the part, too.
...definitely a wise decision on their part. )

  9. I adore Marion Cotillard. And I agree totally that the DA plot is getting maudlin and draggy, but that won't stop me from watching every improbable moment.
    Happy 9th, Little Man!

    1. Thank you wellfedfred! Like you, I intend to watch every single moment of DA. I also came across a couple of spoilers accidentally, so I know a little of the plot, but that won't stop me from watching all of it either. :)

  10. I don't know what 9 year-old boys do for their birthdays nowadays, but I'm sure you will enjoy.

DA has too many little threads going on; the scenes whiz past before one can take in the costumes and the sets. I agree we got too little wedding ( and no south of France). Of course, I will be watching; succeeds the Patriots tomorrow so half the neighborhood will still be here.

    1. Hi Lane! You are so right! It would have been nice to see a bit of them in the South of France. Not to mention that Anna went along and was to share her memories with John Bates...will we hear nothing about it now?

Enjoy your weekend, and have fun watching the game tomorrow! :)

  11. Hi FFM, a big Happy Birthday to your little boy! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend.
Oh the old DA, I was frustrated with it as it moved both slowly yet too quickly for the best bits: the costumes! The wedding! I found the argument between Lady Mary and her beau a bit tedious, I wanted to knock both of them over the head!

    1. Thank you Dani! We are getting ready to head out for the day with him, so he is really excited! :)

I would love to have seen the costumes better during the show, so now I've been scouring the internet for different images of what I missed. Hopefully future episodes will be different.
