A Time for Change

Hello Everyone! I apologize for the lack of posts over the past couple of weeks, but a lot of change has been taking place for our family, and I just have not had time to post information on the latest sales, or to really be online much in general. I do plan to start posting again in the near future though. :)

So what is the big change you might ask? Well, my husband and I have moved our family from Florida across the country to the (currently very snowy) Northwest Rocky Mountains. We had put our house in Florida up for sale just before the holidays, and it sold the second week of February. My husband and our eldest son drove the moving van out a couple of days later, put our belongings in storage, and found us a house to rent short-term while we look for a new home to buy. Then they flew back to Florida, and we loaded everyone up in our SUV, and made the trip out here together.

(These two photos show a couple of the views from our back deck taken a few days ago...there is a lot more snow on the trees today though.)

My husband and I have been wanting to make a major lifestyle change for a long time now, and finally decided that now is the time to do it. We are absolutely loving our new life out here...yes, even the freezing cold temps and snow. This is actually the first time that our boys have ever seen snow, so needless to say, they have been having a really fun time playing in it (and have plenty of it to play in, too).

(This is our driveway covered in snow)

Not only has change taken place for our family, but there will be a change for the Fabulous Florida Mommy blog, as well. A new blog name is on the way (possibly even a new blog site), as well a new blogger name for me, and an entire new way of dressing on a daily basis...seeing as how I no longer live in Florida. ;) I will of course continue to post information on the latest sales (including the J.Crew & Madewell promo-priced items & markdowns), but also plan to once again include posts on various other topics, including personal style, cooking, homemaking, and much more.

I'm not certain how long it will be before the new blog changes take place, but I am aiming to have everything in place within the next week or two. In the meantime, I will continue to post information regarding sales here on the Fabulous Florida Mommy blog until I am able to switch to my new blog name/site. I hope that you will continue to follow me with all the new blog changes, and also as I embark on my new adventures in the beautiful Northwest. :)

xoxo,

  4. Wow! That is a HUGE change. :) Chic Colorado Momma or some variation on that for Wyoming/Montana/Idaho? I look forward to seeing what you do with your style now. Apparently Virginia has decided it is Canada, so I could probably use some cold weather dressing tips myself, lol.

    1. Hi Dina! Yes, definitely a huge change, and very exciting for us, as well. Your weather on the east coast has been crazy this year! My cousin and her husband who live in Georgia were stuck on the interstate for 3 hours at one point due to all the snow. We have been getting a lot of it, but it has started to warm up and melt the past couple of days now. :)

    1. Hi Desert Flower! I have really been enjoying being able to wear several warm layers, as opposed to sweating in February and March like I did back in Florida. I have my name change all decided, so now I just need to finish the new blog changes. :)

    1. Thank you so much Dawn! Life got extra busy for me this past year, and I also came down with a bit of blogger burnout, so my posting started to decline for a good while. Now that we've moved I think I'll have a lot more to blog about, since there are so many changes taking place, and new things to discover. I hope you'll like the changes! :)

  12. Best of luck in your new place! I was born in rural Colorado and lived in small towns all over the state when I was young, so you'll have to let me know where you are. Looking forward to new posts--just think of all your new wardrobe options!

    1. Thank you so much M! I remember when you moved and were trying to decide on what to keep from your wardrobe and what should go. I did get rid of a lot of things, and may still end up having a blog sale or listing items on Ebay to make my wardrobe smaller. I'll probably wait awhile though so I can see just what I'll need in each season. :)

    2. Moving was a great time to purge a ton of items. I've continued to do so, finding that this area is much more casual style-wise than my previous location. So I think it's good to see what you need throughout this first year, and then take stock. Enjoy!!

    1. Thank you Unknown! We are finally getting settled in a bit more, but still looking forward to being able to get some of our things out of storage once the snow melts enough to make it easier to do. While we did pass through your beautiful state, and do plan to go back for a visit, it's not actually where we ended up. We are much further north in Montana (also now known as 'The Last Best Place'. :)

  24. Congrats FMM!! I was just back "home" for a visit to see family in Colorado and I miss the Rockies soooo much!! Been in sunny CA for a while -- but it will never replace my love of the mountains. I would move back in a heartbeat! Your excitement is contagious. I'm ready to move :) Although CO is a little warmer than MT... ;)

    1. Thank you mack! Oh, you must have had a wonderful time visiting your family, especially at this time of year. It is colder up here, but still such a nice change from the suffocating heat that we lived in pretty much year-round in Florida. I just absolutely love the mountains, and have no regrets about moving here whatsoever (even with all the snow). :)

  25. Wow FFM! I am just now getting caught up on blogs and saw the news about the move. Sounds so exciting and I look forward to the new cooler weather blog at fabulous florida mommy north! You will go tweed and wool crazy after all those southern winters. Congrats!

    1. Thanks Shopping Celle! It is quite a change going from such warm temps to freezing ones, but so far I have really been enjoying it. It's really nice to be able to wear a sweater and jacket in March without instantly sweating. Plus I love all the new layering options I have! :)

  27. HI! Congratulations on your successful move! I grew up an hour north of Montana in Canada, and it was truly breathtaking scenery- perfect place for 4 boys to grow up! For a second when I read that I was sad for my sake because I thought you wouldn't be able to shop much anymore, and I wouldn't be able to poach off your great style, but I was totally forgetting we have the internet now! You can still shop all day long!
I got hooked on your blog after you were featured on J Crew, and kept popping back for outfit ideas...and once you are settled in I would love to see more of those (hint, hint :-) especially if you have any ideas for a tall busty blonde that needs piano teaching outfit ideas... I want to look professional but not intimidating, and will be leaning over a lot.... anyways, I am homeschooling my 2 youngest, while my 2 oldest are now in college, and I don't want to look like a homeschooler, either, which is partly why I have always enjoyed your amazing style!! Major moves like that really take a lot out of you, so take your time, but know there are a lot of us out here that are excited for you to get back in this game :)

    1. Thank you so much anon@8:03! We have been up by the Canadian border, and it is absolutely beautiful there! We haven't gotten our passports yet, so we were not able to visit, but plan to in the next couple of months.

How wonderful that you are homeschooling your two youngest! It can be challenging at times, but is very rewarding overall.

I do plan to share more outfit ideas moving forward, and appreciate your kind words and encouragement to do so. Thank you! :)
