Yes Please!!!

I know that it is still officially summer, but the fall season is just around the corner, which means cooler temps and jacket weather once again...yay! Earlier this year (before the weather started to warm up here in Montana), I wore my Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket from J.Crew on a daily basis. I've had it since last summer, but moving out west gave me the opportunity to finally put it to good use. Well, I absolutely love the jacket and would like to purchase it in another color (or two). The problem with that is that J.Crew only makes it in one color right now, which happens to be a real bummer, IMO.

Never fear though, because I have found a promising alternative...the Military Parka from Gap in the 'clean coal' colorway.

From the Gap website...

Fabric & Care:

100% Cotton.
Machine wash.
Imported.

Overview:

Soft twill weave with quilted lining.
Long sleeves with elasticized cuffs.
Packable hood, stand collar.
Angled pockets with snap-flap closures, welt pockets.
Front button placket with hidden zip closure.
Drawcord ties at waist and hem.

Fit & Sizing:

Straight silhouette with an easy, slight oversized fit.
Hits at mid-thigh.

Love the color, the length, the quilted lining, the hood, and the drawstring waist...not sure about the pockets at the front of the chest, so I'll have to see how it looks on before making a final decision, but it really does look like a good alternative to the J.Crew version. Not to mention that right now the jacket is 40% off with code FAF1 at checkout, plus shipping is free on orders of $50+. I'm really tempted to give it a try...how about you?

P.S. The military parka also comes in 'medium wash' blue for those who do not like or need the grey version. :)

  1. Hi...saw this in-store. I really liked the blue version. if I remember correctly it is a bit heavier than J Crews version. Price wise...definitely go for the Gap version if you are looking for this type of jacket. For the $ the gap was well made. Carolyn

    1. Thanks for the information about the jacket, Carolyn! I always appreciate hearing from someone who has seen it in person. Glad to know that it's a nice one. :)

  2. Great catch Melissa! I hope it works out for you. Gap used to be a staple for both my basics and my kids (who are all in a uniformed school) but I rarely shop there for myself now and don't even look at the women's section online. If I didn't have the JC version I would definitely get this one for myself, but since I do, I will likely get both this and the military jacket in navy for my daughter in an XS petite. (She just turned NINE but already almost 5'!) Thank you for pointing this out!

    1. Thanks Audrey! I don't shop at Gap for myself as much as I used to, but they are still my 'go-to' store for t-shirts and occasionally a jacket or skirt.

You are so lucky to have the J.Crew version in grey! I really wish I would have gotten it all those years ago. Hopefully this military parka will be a good alternative. :)

  3. Would love to see an IRL photo. We don't have a Gap in my small town, but I often order online. I'm so glad they have started offering the Supersoft Tees in shortsleeve. I love soft Pima cotton.

    1. Hi { L }! We don't have a Gap in my small town either, so I decided to go ahead and order it to see what it's like IRL. I'll post a couple of photos once I get it, which will probably be next week sometime. :)
