Outfit Post: What I Wore...

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far! I have been sharing pics of what I've been wearing each day on my Instagram page again this past week, so I thought I'd also share them here on my blog. A sort of 'Outfit Post Recap', if you will, for those who want the details of each look, who do not follow me on Instagram, or possibly do not even use it at all.

On Monday-Friday of every week, my days look something like this...I get up extra early so that I can work for several hours (I work from home) before the rest of the family gets up. Then I fix breakfast for everyone, teach school lessons to my four boys, followed by taking my eldest son Jake to and from Biology class, running any errands that need to be done, taking Wyatt to physical therapy on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as taking Garrett to speech therapy on Thursday.

My afternoons are spent finishing any work projects that did not get completed, catching up on domestic chores, and then fixing dinner for the family. Wednesday evenings the boys all go to their children's and youth groups at church, so my hubby and I drop them off, enjoy some quality time together, and then pick them up later that evening.

Here are the outfits I wore this past week...

10.12.14 - Temps in the mid 50's. Hubby and I ran a few errands together, then spent the afternoon catching up on domestic chores.

  1. That outfit you wore to Kalispell is my favorite, so pretty and country preppy. :)

How is Jake doing? I remember how hard it is to go back to feeling normal after having your wisdom teeth out.

I have been to Kalispell, way back when I was working on Capitol Hill. Had to fly in and out of there so we could have a field hearing at Glacier National Park. That is some BEAUTIFUL country up that way. I cannot wait till I can take my whole family back up there. One day. Still have to convince my hubby that the drive in the mountains isn't that bad. (He recoiled when I told about the drive I had to take to get to the hearing site. Such a baby!)

    1. Thanks Dina! That was one of my favorite looks of the week, too. :)

Jake is doing pretty good considering he had all four of them removed at once. He's still in a lot of pain, but the meds work well, and he was able to eat a better variety of soft foods yesterday, as opposed to Friday when he only had milkshakes and a little bit of yogurt. I can tell he doesn't feel overly great, but he really is a trooper and has been handling the entire situation really well.

Glacier National Park is one of my absolute favorite places to go! It is just so breathtakingly gorgeous there. We live a little over an hour away, and try to visit as much as possible. I hope you're able to bring your family out to see it. As for the drive up the Going to the Sun Road, tell your hubby just not to look down. That's what I have to do, and it really does help. :)

  2. I always enjoy your outfit posts and appreciate your putting them here! I do not know which is my favorite…love that JC Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket. Also like the Madewell Jacket but wonder if it could be too short on me. Will check that out as it is still available. Really do appreciate these real life photos as they do make a huge difference!

    1. Thank you Southern Lady! I have to say that the boyfriend fatigue jacket and outbound jacket are probably the two most favorites in my wardrobe right now. They are both extremely versatile and different enough that having both is not redundant at all. If the length of the outbound jacket works for you, and you have the opportunity to get both it and the fatigue jacket, I say go for it. They are lightweight enough to work in warmer climates than mine, but still work for colder climates when worn with a hoodie or other layer underneath.

    2. One quick question....how are you wearing the hood of the hoodie? I cannot tell from the photo. I have seen them worn over the collar of jean jackets but wondered what you prefer. TIA

    3. Hi Southern Lady - do you mean the hood of the cashmere getaway hoodie? I wear it inside the hood of the boyfriend fatigue jacket. If I need to utilize them in the rain or snow, I just put both of them over my head. HTH! Let me know if you have any other questions!

  3. Great outfits Melissa for your busy days! I hope your son Jake is feeling better, my older daughter had all four of hers out last July and the first day was really bad, I nearly took her back to the hospital. She needed a week to recover while my son was really quite well after about 3 days or so.
Take care, really enjoy these outfit posts.

    1. Thank you Dani! Jake seems to be doing quite well, and like your son, has been recovering quickly. He really didn't have much swelling either, which is wonderful, as I've heard it can be really bad. I know he's just very pleased to have gotten this all out of the way. :)
