Now at Madewell - Extra 40% Off Promo-Priced Items & Sale Styles - Links to Reviews & IRL Pics - EXTRA40!!!

Madewell is offering an Extra 40% Off Promo-Priced Items & Sale Styles with code EXTRA40 at checkout until 1.5.15. Shipping is FREE on ALL Orders, too...YAY!

As I've mentioned many times before...I absolutely love Madewell. The casual-vibe of their clothing works well with my lifestyle, the styling on the website stays more to the understated side, the prices are often more affordable than a lot of the retailers offering similar styles, and I love that they always offer Free Shipping on ALL orders, too.
The quality has been good on all the items I have ordered, and the pieces are all holding up very well so far. (I've shared pics of me wearing a couple of the jackets on my Instagram.) If you haven't ever ordered from Madewell, you should definitely consider giving them a try. :)

Holiday Baking Simplified: Oatmeal Scotchies

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well and looking forward to a wonderful weekend! Do you have any special plans? Have you done any baking yet this Holiday season? I baked up a whole bunch of goodies earlier this week, and thought I would share one of my family's favorites with you...
Oatmeal Scotchies.

These cookies are incredibly moist, chewy, sweet, and delicious. Many of you may already have this recipe, but for those of you who do not...here goes:

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or grated peel of 1 orange
3 cups quick or old-fashioned oats
1 2/3 cups (11-oz. pkg.) Butterscotch Flavored Morsels

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375° F.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in oats and morsels. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 7 to 8 minutes for chewy cookies or 9 to 10 minutes for crisp cookies. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

That's it...incredibly easy to make, and oh so delicious!
Let me know what you think if you decide to give them a try! :)

Life Simplified...Thankful Thursday

Life can be difficult or stressful no matter your circumstance...where you live and work, whether you're married or single, have a child, lots of children, or no children at all. I believe that in these times it is extra important to think of all the good things in your life, no matter how small, as it really does help to put your focus on the positive. Instead of being caught up in all the 'bad stuff' happening in your life, it can help to change your attitude into one of gratitude, making your present life and circumstances much more enjoyable.

Today I am sharing 10 more things that I am thankful for this week...

1. The upcoming Christmas Holiday - celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

2. That my three youngest boys did an amazing job in their Christmas program at church.

3. Christmas carols.

4. Gloves & Mittens.

5. Space heaters.

6. Christmas cookies.

7. Christmas lights.

8. Friendly customer service representatives.

9. Free shipping.

10. The Holiday Season.

What are you thankful for today?

Yes Please!!!

Oh my goodness how this dress is calling my name! I love everything about it...the ladylike silhouette, understated color, black buttons and piping, not to mention the longer length of 37.5", which just so happens to be perfect on me. The wool fabric makes it perfect for this season, and how absolutely adorable would it be paired with black tights and knee boots?

I have had a long-time love affair with Orla Kiely dresses, but unfortunately they tend to be way out of my price range, and sadly this one is no exception. However, I do know that they eventually go on sale, and since this particular dress is sold at Anthropologie, I am hoping that I will be able to catch it on sale and with an extra % off eventually...fingers crossed! :)

What are your thoughts on the dress? Have you seen it IRL or possibly even tried it on? Do you own any Orla Kiely dresses or clothing? If so, I would love to hear how the sizing compares to J.Crew or Madewell. Thanks, and have a lovely day! :)

Love the color, the shape, and the faux-shearling lining.

Love...such a nice change from the typical puffer jacket.

Really like the two different colors of leather and the quilting, too. Definitely a unique piece.

Looks so soft and cozy.

Very cute, and I love the weave, as well as the kilt pin.

Love the color. I would wear this one over a turtleneck or flannel shirt with denim or a skirt.

I normally don't go for the exposed zip trend, but I think it actually works on this dress.

Absolutely adorable. My favorite is the bright ivory colorway.

Incredibly feminine with those ruffles, and I love the print.

Incredibly chic.

So cute...really love all those little stars.

I really like the uniqueness of this piece, plus it looks incredibly comfy to wear, too.

Very pretty. Once again, not a fan of the exposed back zip, but I know that others don't mind it. I would probably try putting in a regular zip if I were to get it. I also think it could be cute worn with a turtleneck or white button down under the dress and a pair of black tights with heels or knee boots.

Lovely...this would be perfect for a Holiday party.

Just like the leopard print version above, it is ncredibly feminine with those ruffles, and the color is beautiful.

Love all three colors, and I imagine that this one is incredibly warm, too.

Very cute silhouette, that would be lovely worn under a cardigan or denim jacket.

Really adorable in both colors...love the polka dots!

Yes please!

Incredibly feminine and pretty...love both colors.

So adorable...yes please!

Really like the silhouette, the print, and the color. It would be cute worn under a cardigan or jacket, too...possibly even worn over a turtleneck or long-sleeve tee.

Absolutely love this one! How adorable would this be worn under a leather jacket, denim jacket, cardigan, or blazer?

Really like the colors of the plaid on this one. Not too much of a fan of the high/low hem, but it may not be as noticeable on women who are not model height.

Gorgeous!

Love the color and the quilting...such a lovely, unique bag.

Absolutely stunning...what a beautiful color!

I really like the jewelry at Madewell, especially when the pieces go on sale with an extra % off.
Their midi and stacking rings are always really adorable, too.

Cute, cute, cute.

Another great ring option.

Love how delicate this one looks. The combination of rose-tone, silver-tone, and gold-tone is lovely.

Love the print and color combination...I imagine it is very warm, too.

This appears to be similar to the Portland Stripe Scarf, just different colors.
I own and love the Portland version, which I reviewed here...I'm sure this one is equally as lovely.

Beautiful print and color...another great option for keeping the cold at bay.

Are you planning on taking advantage of the 'Permission to Splurge' Event? If so, what item or items are you picking up? Do you own any of the items on sale or promo? Is there any item you have seen or tried on that you would recommend? Please do share! :)

(Some restrictions do apply to this promo however...offer not valid on Barbour®, Chimala®, Penfield®, Rachel Comey, Saucony®, Sézane®, Sorel®, Vans® or Woolrich White® merchandise; shearling coats and jackets; The Transport Tote, The Transport Rucksack and The Transport Weekender.)
