What I Wore...11.15.15

We had another warm up this past weekend, so I once again took advantage of the warmer temps to wear an outfit that did not require a sweater, coat, or parka to keep me from freezing.

This outfit is the one I wore to church and then to run errands this past Sunday, 11.15.15. The jeans were purchased early on this year, but all the other pieces have been in my wardrobe for many years now. As I mentioned in this post last week, I spent most of the day cleaning out my closet on the previous Saturday, trying on my fall & winter clothing items to see what still fits, and even styling a couple of new looks.
This outfit happens to be one those new looks, and I really like the way it turned out.

The Details:

*Gap 'The Perfect Black Blazer', and I have to agree with the name 100%. I purchased mine several years ago for a steal, and it has quickly become one of my favorite 'go to' wardrobe items...extremely comfortable to wear, and very flattering, too. If you do not already own a black blazer, you really should consider investing in one...it's a must have wardrobe staple. - Similar here and here in black.

*J.Crew Dot Flouncette Blouse from 2010. It's been several years since I last wore this one. Somehow it survived numerous closet purges, as well as a move across the U.S...glad it survived! Similar here and here.

*Madewell Slim Boyjean in Seneca Wash - love these! So comfortable, and the wash goes with everything. The slim boyjean is actually one of my favorite fits that Madewell offers, and I hope to get another pair or two in different washes in the near future. Similar here and here.

*Talbots Leopard Calf Hair Flap-Pocket Tote purchased back in 2010, and I still love it to this day. I've styled several outfits with it over the years, and even shared some pics of a couple of them on the blog here and here. - Similar bag here and here.

*Eileen Fisher Coax Bootie in Italian Crackled Leather. These are another item I bought several years ago, and are one of my all-time favorite purchases. Even though I bought them on sale, they were still quite spendy, but have been SO worth the money! I wear them constantly, and at this point the CPW is in the single digits. The are incredibly well-made & comfortable to wear. If you're ever able to find a pair, I highly recommend snatching them up...you won't regret it!
Similar here and here in black.

*J.Crew Calf Hair Skinny Belt - I have 2 of these...one from 2010 that I wear as a waist belt, and then another one from 2011 that I wear as a 'regular' belt on my hips. The belt is extremely versatile, and adds a bit of interest to outfits. - Similar here and here.

*Joan Rivers 'Framed in Glamour' Sunglasses - Similar here and here in black.

*Michael Kors Gold 'Camille' Watch - I received this as a gift from my husband a couple years ago, and still absolutely adore it to this day. I wear it on an almost daily basis, and always receive numerous compliments any time I do. Similar here, here, and here in gold.

*J.Crew Pavé Link Bracelet - I've had this for many years now, and it has been well worth the investment. I wear it on a very regular basis, so it is another item with very low CPW...highly recommend if you've been considering the splurge. - Similar here and here.

*Madewell Mini Bow Ring and Facet Stacking Rings - I love the jewelry at Madewell, especially the various rings they offer. Granted, these are definitely more of 'costume' jewelry pieces, as the gold can tend to rub off after awhile, and that's why I purchase them on super sale.

*Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 'Cruella'

How has the weather been where you live? Have you done the seasonal wardrobe switch out yet? Did you discover any new outfits like I did? Have you purchased any new items recently?
Please do share...I always love to hear from you!

That's it for now...have a lovely day! :)

  1. Love this outfit, that blouse! Looks great mixed in with the leopard pieces you chose as well.
We are having oddly warm weather here just now and I seem to live in my aigle rain boots these days, I have a pair with a turquoise liberty print that I wear with my JCrew toggle coat in turquoise, people love it and it's easy to wear over some skinny jeans or pants and a sweater. Also a big plaid scarf though I don't really need it yet.
At this time last year we had snow, looks like we might have a warmer winter just as they are predicting this year.
I definitely switched out my closet to autumn/winter weeks ago but I'm not close to wearing my real cold-weather clothes yet. I edited out a few things at that time including some leopard wedges which weren't very comfortable, I replaced them with some new ones from JCrew last month, the colette calf hair leopard heels, my new favourites for wearing out!
Have a great day, I do love these What I Wore posts! XO

    1. Thanks Dani! I'm really glad that I kept the blouse through all the purges and our move. I received a bunch of compliments on the outfit, especially the dotted blouse. Isn't the weather this year just so odd? It has cooled down here again, and we got snow last night, as well as the night before last. I do love it when there is snow on Thanksgiving, but we'll have to see how it goes this year. I hope you and your family are well! Thank you so much for stopping by...I always love to hear from you! :)

  2. Melissa, love your outfit. Plus that you are styling some older items since that is what I seem to be doing more of these days. You got me going last year on Madewell jeans and they are my go to jeans now. I have a couple of styles and bought multiple pairs. Our weather has been warm too so taking advantage of my Madewell jackets (another tip from you) and pairing with layers which is the Colorado way. Have a great day.

    1. Thank you JRS! Madewell jeans are awesome, aren't they? I was able to snag another pair of boyjeans during the last promo, and can't wait for them to get here. I really wish they would offer even more washes in that silhouette. I'm going to try out the flea market flare overalls, too. They've been on my wishlist for months now, so I figured I'd give them a go to see if they'll actually even look good on me. If so, I think they'll be really cute paired with a turtleneck or vintagey blouse. The weather has been so strange. I wish we could get some sort of 'normal' going on at this point. Thanks for stopping by...I always love it when you do! :)
