What I Wore...1.24.16
The weather has warmed up quite a bit for us here in Montana over the past week, so I took advantage of the milder temps yesterday to wear one of my favorite topcoats from J.Crew to church and then run a couple of errands afterwards...

The Details:

*J.Crew Collection Tweed Topcoat - I purchased this coat a few years ago when I still lived in Florida, but never had much of a chance to wear it. Needless to say, it has gotten a lot more use since moving to Montana, and has definitely become a favorite item in my wardrobe. It is truly a classic piece, and I know I will wear it for many more years to come.
- Similar coat here, here, and here

*Eileen Fisher Long Turtleneck Top - this is another item I purchased several years ago. It was rather spendy at the time, but I have worn it so much that the CPW (cost per wear) is now in the single digits. Definitely another great investment piece. - Similar here and here

*Born 'Helen' Boot in black leather - these boots are incredibly comfortable and very well-made. They do run large, so size down if you decide to give them a try.

*Dooney & Bourke Black Florentine Vachetta Small Satchel in black leather - this was a birthday gift given to me by my hubby several years ago, and is one of the favorite handbags that I own. The quality is superb and the size is perfect, plus it has a lot of sentimental value. :)
- A less spendy option here.

Here's a photo taken last year that shows the topcoat, along with a similar look...
just a couple substitutions were made yesterday.

The two items that were different in this photo are the:

*Gap Turtleneck Sweater - similar here and here

That's it for now...have a lovely day! :)

  1. Lovely coat! Really nice colors in that tweed. Also like your suggestions, and in particular, the Pendleton one.

    2. Aw! You are the sweetest, my friend! For my part, I love your distinctive style voice! Love how you've got the Florida vibe going in the summer, and awesome Montana/Mountain vibe in the winter. A visit to your blog is like visiting a friend's house and just hanging out and enjoying each other Be.

  4. Hi Melissa, late to post on this look but love it. I saw a similiar J Crew coat on Ebay, they had it as the Lady Day Coat but don't think it is now I see this one. May check it out again. I have those jeans, think you recommended them and I love them, in fact I bought 3 pairs on sale. Plus, you know my love of Eileen Fisher, I bought a silk top recently, it was expensive even on sale but totally worth it and I have worn it so many times. And lastly, I just got a pair of Born boots at the Sierra Trading Post by my house for $10, retail I think is $190. So I am kinda styling like you just many inches shorter :)

    1. Thank you JRS! I did see someone selling this coat in a size 4 on Ebay. It is definitely worth investing in if you're able to find one. How lucky you are to live so near to a Sierra Trading Post...you find the absolute best deals! My Born boots were purchased at a great sale price, but nowhere near as good as yours were.

Loving the fact that we are style twins a lot of the time! :)
