I was at Madewell yesterday, eyeing those same sandals! I like the design on the F21 ones you linked to better -- wonder how that material would wear over time? My feet are so sensitive, prone to blistering so I worry about non-leather items due to lack of stretching over time. (I bought a cute pair of Chelsea Crew oxfords last year -- super cute, stylish, but the material is unforgiving, no give so I can't wear them :-(PS, I bought the denim button-front skirt, super cute! But I'm returning it today b/c I think I grabbed the wrong size, too snug. (I'm telling you, JCrew's vanity sizing has ruined me! I never know what my size is anymore.) I'm at '25' or '26' at JC, but this Madewell skirt in 26 was giving me the squeeze :-(
Hi TM93! I am so jealous that you live near a Madewell store! I think I would be there on a weekly basis if I did. Those F21 sandals are really cute, aren't they? I've owned a pair or two of faux leather sandals from Steve Madden, and didn't have any issues with them. Not sure about the ones at F21, but I would hope they would be the same way. That skirt is super cute, and I agree about the vanity sizing. I feel as if I rarely know what size to actually buy anymore. It's really so much of a crap shoot these days.On another note, I wanted to let you know that I finally received the fiery sunset trench and really like the color a lot. It's more than likely the one I will keep if I can get the sizing to work. I'm thinking I will watch for the size 4 to popback and give it a try. The size 2 works with a short sleeve or thin shirt underneath it, but I definitely cannot wear anything thicker with it. Not that I would do much layering with it anyways, but I want to be sure I don't end up feeling claustrophobic in it.
Oh I'm so glad to hear about the trench color preference! That red is a beautiful pop of color for spring and it will pair well with jeans & other outfits. I liked it as well but it doesn't always pair well w/ my coloring sometimes. Fingers crossed on a popback for you! I do think you'll get your popback b/c i imagine others are having the same exact problem as we are right now. I can't believe the issues we've both had w/ the armholes tho!! Nuts! Also frustrating since you own the winter version of the coat & they list same measurements when the fit isn't the same at all. Doubly nuts. A new Barley is on its way to me as well, hopefully this will be the one. (I had similar issues as you -- i could sort of, kind of, squeeze into one, but just barely. And like you, I don't anticipate layers & layers, esp. for spring, but you want a little room! For mobility, if anything. Anywho! PS, I recently received that Belted Chino Dress -- really cute, heavier fabric, but a nice transition piece for winter/spring and for fall, in case you're curious.PSS, there is a stretch of about 5 blocks here in NYC with wonderful stores, all down 5th Avenue -- you start at 21th and 5th for Ann Taylor. Across the street is Loft, then zigzag back across for Madewell, then Banana a block later, followed by J Crew and Anthro on the same block!! Heaven for shoppers like us! If you visit NY anytime soon, you must make your way over there, it's a fun part of town! :-)
I haven't been to NYC since the mid-90's, so many of my favorite retailers didn't even have stores there at that time. I'd definitely love to visit that stretch of real estate if I ever make it back there. Enjoy...you are a lucky shopper! :)
PS, thank you also for pointing out about Steve Madden faux-leather -- one of my favorite pairs of sandals (now deceased, sniff) was from SM and I don't believe they were leather at all, now that I think about it. There's also a F21 near me here @ work, will check these out. I really like the marigold/yellow color.
Let me know what you think if you get them. Another place for awesome sandals on the less-spendy side is Target. I have a couple pair that I purchased there several years ago, and they are still going strong. Very comfy and were very inexpensive, too.
Oh, that's a great tip, thank you! It's still quite cool here, I can't bring myself to think about sandals just yet. :-oPS, I stopped in at Madewell to return that denim skirt, need to order it online. Did buy a pair of jeans, my first from them. I'm constantly looking for a different, less dark, shade of blue and I also can't find the right fit (especially when I buy online.) Anywho, can't wait til we get our coats!
It's still pretty chilly here, but I have actually worn sandals a couple of times with a maxi dress. Of course I was spending my time inside...definitely wouldn't be wearing them outside all day. ;)Madewell denim is awesome! I'm sure you'll get hooked on it soon! :)
My gosh, Melissa, you weren't kidding -- I wore my new Madewell jeans this past weekend and i L-O-V-E-D them!! So comfortable and form-fitting, but in a good way, flattering where they need to be. Wow! I've never had that kind of reaction to a freakin pair of jeans. I just went & placed an order for a pair that is on sale (the quincy wash, no whiskering in sight). I hope this is the first of many! My denim skirt is backordered so i went ahead and ordered that, too. Thanks for the tips!Pls let me know when your new Chateau comes in!
I knew you would love them! They're quite addictive aren't they? Especially when you can snag them on sale for really cheap, too. :)I still have not been able to catch the Chateau on popback in the size 4. I've been really sick with a horrible case of the flu, so this is the first time I've even been online since last Sunday. I'm going to keep trying though...it's got to show back up at some point!
