Madewell Special Feature - 'How We Do Music Fest Dressing' - Shop It: The Laid-Back and Low-Key Look

5 comments:

  1. Got this email from Madewell and I chuckled at the idea of going to a music festival since the last concerts I went to were Billy Joel and New Order (New Wave) -- before these, I hadn't been in a good 5 years. They're often so $$$! (Though fun!)

I think I like a little from column A and from column B. Shorts don't flatter my muscular little legs so I only wear them with certain shoes & could certainly NOT pull them off with heels/wedges. I like the suede shirt in the other look. Like the scarves on both outfits, but realistically when it's warm enough to wear shorts, it's usually too warm for me to wear scarves (it's a lovely look and I don't know how the French do it!)

Hope you're having a good day!! PS, I was just at JC during lunch and spotted your Marlo bag in leopard -- agree that it w/b cuter were it in calf hair. The tan part does look tan to me, no pinkish hue that I could detect. I agree that it might be best to get it on a good sale price -- cute shape, but a bit of a inexpensive look, do you know what I mean?

PSS, i bought that cotton shirtdress that came out last year in case you've been eyeing that one -- really flattering and easy to wear, will be great for summer.

    1. Hi TM93! Like you, there are several pieces in each look that I would wear, but not everything as a whole. I pretty much never wear shorts, so I would substitute white crop pants for the shorts, and then maybe some sort of striped linen pant for the other striped shorts. Overall, I think the looks are really cute, but I would simplify them for myself a bit, and take out a few of the pieces in each look.

Thanks for the info on the marlo leopard bag. Can you believe they took it off of promo for the extra 40% off today? I'm definitely not paying more for it, so I'll continue to bide my time for a great sale price. Or maybe I'll find something even cuter somewhere else. :)

  2. Re) the 40% off thing -- cannot stand JC pricing games!! They really are games and IMO, i think they're quite counterproductive, as sometimes shoppers buy stuff, then 2 weeks later, there's a huge sale, but it's beyond the PA window so you end up reordering everything, returning the first order, etc. Doesn't JC see the shipping costs in that alone?? Just so annoying. They know shoppers like you and I will wait out sales until a particular item becomes available, so why all the needless back and forth? Grrr. Rant over! (& in the meantime, potential shoppers may end up finding something better, cheaper and/or comparable from other retailers, like you said, so why all the games? Ridiculous.)

    Have a great day! :-)

    1. I completely agree with you, TM93! I personally think they should have just continued to offer the extra 40%, instead of the dollar amount deductions. Watch - this is when the items I've been stalking for months will pop back. I was really, really hoping they were going to show up yesterday. Oh well...they are wants, not needs, so if I never get them life will go on. :)

    2. Still...those earrings on sale plus an extra 40% off & free shipping would be the trifecta.
