Zebra and Denim - by FFM on Polyvore.com
This little tee has been quite controversial over on JCA...what are your thoughts? Do you like it, or are you definitely not a *fan*? Did you get one before they sold out, or did you say *no way...not for me*?
Cute combo. I was not a fan of le zebra, but saw my PS wearing it & it was super cute, but, still not for me.
ReplyDeleteI passed on this tee, not for me. I also feel better about putting $68 towards an item that I feel is classic and more sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteCute polyvore. I never got to see this tee in person, my local jrew sold out before I saw it. I have seen them selling on ebay for 150 dollars!!!! Crazy. what was the retail?
ReplyDeleteI think it's a very flattering tee, but the price initially throw me off (as Marietta said I would have preferred spending $68 for something else)... I couldn't hold off too long though because it was selling out so fast.
ReplyDeleteI plan to wear mine as soon as it gets a little bit warmer here in NY and will post IRL pictures...
I like your idea of pairing it with a light denim jacket.
Did you keep yours? I remember you saying that you had bought one but was still undecided.
I like how you have paired this tee with denim. I have to say that I think the tee is cute (just not for me). Any real life pics of this outfit?
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Me likey. I didn't love it on me - it just wasn't me, wrong shade of gray, etc. But it is very cute, and I bet you look fab in this!!
ReplyDelete(ps, my word verification is gosit. Ok, I will go and sit.)
I bought one, but have yet to wear it. Your polyvore's have given me inspiration! You really are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI bought it. Surprise to me. I knew I'd love the sequins because they seem to be well sewn via the photos. And they are beautiful. I was so shocked when the tee looked good on me. I doubt I will return it. It's so cute.
ReplyDeleteI don't love this shirt, but I love what you've done for it. It looks somewhat appealing now. :) Thanks FFM!
ReplyDeleteWow--the grey with the white and silver really is pleasing to the eye--to me it looks as bright as a cumulus cloud in a vivid blue sky!!! smile
ReplyDeleteLove this!
In hopes of bringing a little life to my fairly boring wardrobe (too many solids), I picked one up and love it! It did exactly what I wanted it to--and makes me feel much more trend-savvy than I really am. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you've paired it with the dark charcoal sweater and the white chinos. Beautiful!
I am not a fan of this tee for me but it looked very cute on my friend...so great for other...not for me:)-- or :( for me
ReplyDeleteI love your set but the tee is not for me. I was walking through Sears yesterday and they have a zebra tee as well.
ReplyDeleteLove your polyvore, epsecially with the Charcoal cardigan. I got my zebra tee in grey a few weeks ago. I wore it yesterday with the boyfriend cardigan in light spearmint with a black pencil skirt and the blanched almond patent leather belt. I also plan on wearing it with a black/khaki blazer. I think you made a great purchase FFM.;)
ReplyDeleteHi Girls! Thank you for all the responses...I initially passed on this tee when it first came out because I didn't think the color did much for me. However, I did end up going back for it because I do love the beading, think the zebra is really cute, and I can wear it under a color that IS flattering on me. ;) I haven't worn it yet, but will be sure to post pics in the near future. :)
ReplyDeleteOh...I also forgot to mention that my boys love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to have this shirt! There are a few on eBay, but they are way too much! If anyone has an extra one is a small, I would love to buy it!
ReplyDeleteI think 2009 will be known as "Year of the Zebra Tee"! While I do love beading in general, I don't want people to see me in it and say "oh there's that controversial hard-to-find overpriced JCrew Zebra tee". I just want people to see me and say "she looks stylish and well put-together". That can't happen when there's a big sequined zebra on my chest! I'm sorry to offend everybody, and FFM I do love your outfits!
ReplyDeleteI bought this tshirt in both the grey and the orange. I think it is a great piece. I wore my grey one w/a grey cardigan, True Religion jeans w/white stitching and I received a lot of compliments. I am not sure yet about the orange. I am waiting for warmer weather & to see if it looks cute w/white jeans.
ReplyDeleteKristie: I'll be sure to post if I come across one in Small...good luck on finding one! :)
ReplyDeleteAnon @5:46: Too funny...I can see how 2009 could indeed be the year of the Zebra tee. Fortunately for me (or unfortunately even) most people where I live don't wear J.Crew nor have they even heard of it, so they won't have a clue about it when I wear it. Btw, I'm not offended that you don't like it...it would be a very boring world if we all liked the same things. :)
Kim: The Orange tee looks great with Stone colored pants and a Bright Fuschia cardigan like in this set: Click Here . A cardigan in Shell looks great, too. :)
If I wear this tee to an event/party/restaurant or whatever, and there is somebody else wearing the same shirt, should we wink at each other? And will people think we're part of a secret zebra-worship cult?
ReplyDeleteI love what you've done...it's a little too pricey for me, but for those that have picked it up, you've given them a fabulous way to wear it...as always!!
ReplyDeleteI don't feel I could wear it (although I have lots of "zebra" in my house!) but I love the sets you've made with it! FFM - I must say - you are not only an inspiration fashion-wise, but I am always impressed with your comments to other people - you are always so kind and seem to find the good in people and their comments. You are truly an inspiration. I love your blog! Always uplifting!
ReplyDeletelove it!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat set FFM. I fell in love with the gray Zebra tee when I saw it in my local B&M. I think it is worth the money. I did not purchase but I did think to myself would that Zebra make my twins look larger? LOL
ReplyDeleteLove love love this outfit with the cute wittle zebra tee! Aww, I SO want one too!! Too bad it's long been sold out...*whine, whine*
ReplyDeleteYeah, I just saw the ebay prices for the coveted tee. Wow! I wonder if anyone is actually buying them at these prices(which range from 79-150)...good luck to the sellers though!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the b/w zebra tee. I wish I could find it tho. http://isnotfashion.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi FFM,
ReplyDeleteJust like you, no one wears J. Crew where I live. But. . . we don't have a retail store anywhere nearby either; the closest one is 3 hrs. away!! :(
I didn't buy the tee b/c it's so hard without seeing it IRL.
Love what you did with it though! Now I wish I had it. Oh well! Enjoy wearing it!
I didn't buy this version of the zebra but love the way you've styled it with these outfits! :)
ReplyDeleteThe tee NEVER showed up in any of my B&Ms so, yes, Ladies, I bought it on e-Bay and paid more than it was selling for retail!! However, I have to say, it is really cute IRL. Much more subtle (if you can believe it!) than I thought it would be. I like FFM's sets because you want to style subtlety like she's done and let the tee be the star of the show. I am really glad I made the investment and can't wait to wear it!
