Inspiration: Sculptor's Attitude

Sculptor's Attitude
by Author Unknown

"I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friend or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.

Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.

Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because the Lord has provide shelter for my mind, body and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

Have a GREAT DAY……unless you have other plans."

What I Wore

Just a few *What I Wore* sets for the past week or so. :)

What I Wore on 11.20.09: My belt is a similar one but from Ann Taylor. Unfortunately I don't have the handbag, but wish I did since it looks so good with this outfit. :) It's hard to tell from the online pic, but 2 of the flowers on the tee are similar to the color of the chinos, which are olive/army green.
11.20.09 by FFM featuring J Crew

What I Wore on 11.21.09: Went out to dinner and a movie with DH. :) The sleeves on the jacket are rolled up and the inside lining is light ivory/white with pale grey stripes. The ivory on the jacket lining *accentuates* the pearl on the earrings and the handbag.
11.21.09 by FFM featuring J Crew

What I Wore on 11.25.09: the jeans are tucked into the boots. My bag is a similar style made by Charm and Luck. :)
11.25.09 by FFM featuring J Crew

What I Wore on 11.26.09: Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' house. The weather was very nice and actually quite chilly.:) The jacket was worn outside and I didn't wear tights with the shorts and boots. I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed day!

Wearing Today 11.27.09: Just relaxing at home with hubby and our boys. :)

Inspiration: Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

A Little Sparkle

Butterscotch and Sequins

The Butterscotch Blazer and Rosette Sequin tank are almost a perfect *match* IRL...SO pretty together. :)

Roses and Lace

The color of the cardigan and cami do *go* together IRL even though they look a little *off* online. :)

What I Wore on 11.17.09: Ruffles and Roses tank in grey under a cardigan from Target very similar to the one in the set. The cardigan is buttoned up and the ruffles and roses are placed outside of the neckline. My handbag is similar to the one in the set.

A Few Sets for Today...

A few more sets...some of what I've worn or intend to wear and some are simply for inspiration. :)

:) by FFM featuring J Crew

The tank in the next set is a *stand-in* for the in store only Ruffles and Rose tank. I've heard it's supposed to be available online around December 15th for those not near a store.

The cardigan is worn buttoned up over the tank and the roses are positioned on the outside of the neckline of it. It is SO cute on IRL. :)

This is my stand-in for the in-store only Ruffles and Roses tank in Grey again. It's worn under the striped tee with the roses and ruffles pulled out over the neckline.

This cardigan is very pretty IRL. It is actually more gold than the picture shows, too.
:) by FFM featuring Old Navy

What I Wore on 11.13.09: More errands and a trip to the market. The blazer is much prettier and darker IRL than this pic. My tee is also Gap and a bit closer to the color of the boots. My jeans are ON and worn over the boots

What I Wore on 11.16.09: My sweater is a similar style from Target last year and my belt is the J.Crew black leather jeans belt. :)

Inspiration: A Smile

A Smile costs nothing, but gives much.

It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.

It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it.

A Smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business,
and is the countersign of friendship.

It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,
and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give you a smile;
Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

Inspiration: Veterans Day

By Taylor Weinman

Representing the red white and blue

The colors of our flag stand out proud and true.

The white stars on blue background with red and white stripes

Remind me of these veterans, who all risked their lives.

Just so the people of the U.S. could all live in peace and be free

These are the heroes that represent you and me.

They stood up strongly, united as one,

And kept up the fighting until they were done.

And although some have fallen, and lost their lives in war,

We pray for each one of them.

And now that their souls live on forever more,

Above in God's hands.

They watch over our nation,

And give us strength to triumph over others with strong anticipation.

So every year, when this day comes by,

Think of all the veterans that while fighting, had to die.

And remember that they were people

With fire and passion embedded inside.

They died for this country,

So remember and honor them with pride

I want to say a personal thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country! Our lives would not be the same without your loyalty, bravery, and sacrifices! God Bless You and keep you!

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
48. If you don't ask, you don't get.
49. Yield.
50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Another *Boyfriend Jacket* Option

I made a quick trip to Kohl's this morning and came across this Boyfriend Jacket by the brand Elle. It can be seen on the Kohl's website here . Right now the only size left online is a Medium, but I was told by a CSR that they should restock eventually. The stores are carrying them though, so if you are interested in it you should look at your local Kohl's store. Here are the specifics from the Kohl's website:

*Keep up with the latest trends in this women's ELLE boyfriend jacket. Long sleeves. In black.

* Striped cuffs and notch collar offer a classic look.
* Relaxed boyfriend cut provides standout style.
* Princess seams flatter your figure.
* Removable rosette pin lends a delicate touch.
* Full lining and stretchy fabric blend ensures comfortable wear.
* Details:
*Button front
*Dry clean

This jacket has long sleeves, a longer length, and more of an oversized *boyfriend* fit than the Old Navy jacket I posted about yesterday. Both jackets are very nice, IMHO. This one from Elle retails for $60, but is on sale for $44.99 right now. Kohl's always has coupons they send out or online codes for an extra % off, so be sure to look for one if you plan to make a purchase there.

*Please note that there is also a shorter Boyfriend jacket made by Elle that has 3/4 sleeves at the same price and they were hanging together in the store. If you want long sleeves and more length make sure you pick this one out of the two there.

Are you looking for a Boyfriend jacket? Do you ever visit Kohl's? If so, have you found some good deals?

Extremely Nice *In Real Life*

I want to share some Old Navy pieces that I personally think are extremely nice *in real life*. The Stuff & Save promotion is still going on until 11/8 and you receive an extra 30% off of your purchase when you use your Gap, BR, or ON card...such a fantastic deal! :)

The Pleated Sateen Skirt in the Black and White print seen
here on the Old Navy website. I ordered a size 4 but it seems a tad big, so the size 2 is on the way to me right now in order for me to decide which will be the better fit. This is a true black and white print and the shape/fit reminds me a little of the Taffeta Belle skirts from J.Crew last year. Plus it has pockets!!! :)

Next is the 3/4 Sleeve Sateen Blazer seen
here . This is a LOVE for me! I was so pleasantly surprised when it arrived, especially for the price. I ordered it in size Small and the fit is perfect. :)Last is the Quilted Performance Fleece Lined Vest seen here on the website. I ordered this in the *Coffee Grounds* color to wear with my Frye look alike boots. The small came yesterday but I think it is a tad too big in the bust area so I am waiting on the XSmall to see which one is the better fit. This vest is very flattering and perfect weight for's my personal alternative to the J.Crew Puffer Vest. :)Have you ordered anything from Old Navy lately? Do you have any pieces that you have been pleasantly surprised by when they arrived?

New Arrival: Moon Asymmetrical Zip Cardigan

There is a new arrival at the J.Crew Brick and Mortar store that is currently not available online. It is called the *Moon Asymmetrical Zip Cardigan*, item #20609, and retails for $148. It is 55% Wool, 30% Nylon, 15% Cashmere, very soft to the touch, and the weight is very substantial as well. The length is about the same as the Jackie cardigans and the color code is HFO...not sure what that stands for, but I would describe the color as cream/off white/snow. Here are a few pics:

The buttons on the small pockets are brown:

Close up of the neckline:

This was selling out fast at my store...there was only one size Small when I left yesterday morning. Perhaps it will go online with the rest of the new arrivals next week?

What are your thoughts? Are you planning to look for it, or is it a *pass* for you?

Inspiration: Don't Look Back

Don't Look Back...

You're Not Going That Way

As you travel through life
there are always those times
when decisions just
have to be made
when the choices are hard,
and solutions seem scarce
and the rain seems
to soak your parade!

There are some situations
where all you can do
is to simply let go and move on
gather courage together
and choose a direction
that carries you toward
a new dawn.

So pack up your troubles
and take a step forward
the process of change
can be tough
but think about all the
excitement ahead
if you can be stalwart enough!

There could be adventures
you never imagined
just waiting around the next bend
and wishes and dreams
just about to come true
in ways you can't
yet comprehend!

Perhaps you'll find friendships
that spring from new interests
as you challenge your status quo
and learn there are so many
options in life,
and so many ways you can grow!

Perhaps you'll go places
you never expected
and see things that
you've never seen
or travel to fabulous,
faraway worlds
and wonderful spots in between!

Perhaps you'll find warmth
and affection and caring-
a "somebody special"
who's there
to help you stay centered
and listen with interest
to stories and
feelings you share.

Perhaps you'll find comfort
in knowing your friends are
supportive of all that you do
and believe that whatever
decisions you make,
they'll be the right
choices for you!

So keep putting one foot
in front of the other
and taking your life
day by day.

There's a brighter tomorrow
that's just down the road.
Don't look back-
you're not going that way!
