I purchased this in Black, size XSmall and absolutely love it! It is extremely comfortable to wear, and I really think it looks and feels more expensive than $25.
Here it is on me:
This is how I wore it on 6.12.10 for our trip over here to the beach:
IRL:
The Details:
The Merona® Shirtdress also comes in a color called LT OD, which is an olive/*army* green IRL. There is also a Shirred-Waist Shirtdress in Brown (aka Khaki), as well as Brown Dot. I'm not sure why these colors have a different name, but from the online pic and description they appear to be the same as the Elbow Sleeve Shirtdress.
I removed the black tie-belt that came with the dress and replaced it with my J.Crew Roughed-Out Leather Belt (similar here and here).
My jewelry consists of Silver Hoop Earrings (similar here and here in Silver), the Pave' Necklace I mentioned in this post (I switched out the gold chain for a silver one), a Real Collectibles *Faux* Diamond Bracelet by Adrienne Vittadini purchased several years ago (similar here and here), and a mixture of brown and black bangles purchased a while ago at Forever 21 (similar .
here).
The handbag I carried is a Mossimo® Black Leopard Hobo from Target. I don't see the one I have online, but there is a tote (I used this one in the Polyvore) and a clutch (which I also have but haven't decided if I'm keeping or not). The hobo I have is smooth and shiny...very nice IRL. I haven't seen the tote that's available online, but the clutch has a different *rougher* texture/look than the hobo, and I think the tote is the same way.
My Leopard-Print *Sanfrann* Slingback sandals were purchased on sale last year from Steve Madden and *go* quite well with the Mossimo® Black handbag and J.Crew leather belt. I didn't see them offered again this year, but there are plenty of similar styles out there such as this pair and this pair. The ruffle detail on this pair is super cute, too.
Here's a close up of the handbag, sandals, and belt:
I once again wore my Aviators, but this time I wore the silver pair (similar here in Silver/Dark Grey combo) to coordinate with my jewelry and the silver hardware on the handbag .
I also wore it on 6.7.10 while running errands...here's the Polyvore for that day:
I have not seen it yet but since Target is on my errands list today I will check it out. I agree; it looks a lot nicer than $25!
ReplyDeleteI would love that dress, and many other Merona items. Unfortunately, even Target's smallest women's size, 2P, is way too large for me. For clothing retailers who vanity size, I can only wear 00P. So many cute Merona pieces :( Enjoy! I love your outfits!
ReplyDeleteYou look darling in all the pics! I love seeing your IRL photos! I love the black and how you styled it. OK - I have stalked this dress since it came out because I love shirtdresses - I got it last week in khaki for $6!!! Whoo-whoo. 75% off. I love it and think it is tailored great and looks way more expensive.
ReplyDeleteI also forgot to say, I sized down in this one - I am typcially a Medium in Merona, but took a small in this one.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I've been looking for an inexpensive shirt dress and this looks to be the ticket. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress and how you have styled it. Black w/animal print is a top fav of mine.
ReplyDeleteI have the JC Gallery purse in silver. I don't feel it's sturdy enough for everyday wear. The silver seems like it is flaking off with the grain of the leather. In other words, I'm almost seeing little tears in the metallic. Maybe the gold was bettter quality?
That dress looks much more expensive than $25. What a great day to day dress. And I love it with the animal print sandals.
ReplyDeleteYou look soooo cute in the picture and in the dress! Just darling!
ReplyDeleteLooks so cute on you! I love how you styled it. I just "found" an adorable black shirtdress in the back of my closet that I got at Ann Taylor years ago and your Polyvores have inspired me!
ReplyDeleteYou look so great! I love the accessories too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI need to find me some shirtdress! :-)
I love the look with the leather belt! I do love a shirt dress and tried the Land's End with the full skirt and it did not look as nice as yours.
ReplyDeleteGreat find- It looks really nice the way you styled it. LOVE your hair.
ReplyDeleteJust bought the shirt dress today in a size M. Fits perfect! I'm a size 8 and all around size M so I think it fits pretty true to size. So many style options too! J Crew Leopard print flip flops from last year or Target gold sandals from last year or Target Zebra print belt and silver or black sandals. Love it!
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant to mention that I found the Merona Kennedy dress that you wrote about in a previous post, on sale for $9.98 at my store. I might need to have it taken in a smidge, but it's really cute, especially for $10!
ReplyDeleteI saw this dress in the store last week and I agree, it looks more expensive than it is. I love it on you FFM! The animal print and the cognac belt are perfect with it.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you look great! I love the outfit, and the hobo is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI bought this dress in the khaki/army green color but decided to dye it with RIT dye in the washing machine with the teal color. It turned out great! Now that I see you in the black, though, I might have to get that one too! Great dress for the price!!
ReplyDeleteI love when you post pictures, and you always do a good job. Everything look so good on you! Good taste, good lady!
ReplyDeleteHi Ladies! Thank you all so much for stopping by to comment, and for the compliments, as well! I really appreciate each and everyone one of them. :)
ReplyDeleteThis dress is definitely a great deal so be sure to check it out if you get the chance. :)
Peggy: You are the absolute QUEEN of scoring Target deals! What a fabulous price you got on the dress...I am truly amazed! My Target doesn't ever do that great of markdowns and my size always tends to sell out before they even do them anyways. I want to come visit your store! ;)
Have a wonderful day everyone! :)
Great dress. Does look like you paid more $$ for it:) Oh the joys of bargain shopping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads-up on this dress, FFM! Ran over to Target this a.m., and picked up the shirtdress in size small. I probably could have taken the XS but it wasn't available.
ReplyDeleteLove the styling options you have listed, and I will look for the chic hobo next!
Have a good day
Gorgeousssssss!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing this dress in your post I ran out to "my" Target and picked one up! It looks great on you and I appreciate the styling tips! I have those same animal print sandals and replacing the self belt with others in my closet will give the dress new life each time I wear it!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I've been looking for an inexpensive shirt dress and this looks to be the ticket

Hello! (Long time lurker, first time poster) I so totally loved this dress on you that I bought it in the black and the olive - and am wearing it now as I type this! It fits beautifully and it truly does look a lot more expensive than what it cost. Thank you so much for all the inspiration you give. Your blog truly IS fabulous!! :)
ReplyDeleteGenny, Ursula, Joanne, txmom, kanishk, and anon@9:30 am: Thank you all for stopping by...I really appreciate it!
