S is for Sandals

Hello my Dear Readers! I hope you're having a fantastic Wednesday! :) Today I am sharing another excerpt from the book The One Hundred by Nina Garcia..."A Guide To The Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own." It shares the A-Z staples each woman should have in her wardrobe, and today we are continuing on with the letter S. :)

S is for Sandals:

Ms. Garcia writes:

"I think it is mandatory that every woman have two pairs of summertime sandals: a casual daytime pair and a dressy nighttime pair. For the day, a gladiator sandal will always be chic and stylish (though some seasons it gets more attention than others). The low version of the gladiator sandal is classic and enduring. The up-to-the-knee version (Google Mary-Kate Olsen in gladiators) has its days in the sun and then fades away for a few years. For night, a metallic sandal will match every single summertime outfit. For low-key summer nights, a flat metallic thong is perfection. But when you are kicking it up a notch, the heels should come up with you. A metallic stiletto sandal (gold or silver) is really the only option for a summer night on the town.

Foot Fetish:

*Your sandals must fit as perfectly as your best stilettos. No part of the foot should spill over the side or front or back.

*Make sure your feet are perfectly pedicured. Please! Remember this, if nothing else."

Closet Obsession: K. Jacques

"The K. Jacques company was created in 1933 by Mr. and Mrs. Keklikian Jacques. Their sandals represent authentic Saint-Tropez fashion. They are cool and casual and radiate the relaxed, tranquil Mediterranean atmosphere. It is still a family business today, all of the products are made in France, and the brand has three stores in Saint-Tropez and a boutique in the Le Marais quarter of Paris. However, the sandals can also be found at high-end department stores and online. They were a hit early on with celebrities and the fashion elite. They continue to be favorites today and will endure as long as cool and casual Saint-Tropez styles are in vogue (i.e., until the end of time)."

Closet Obsession: Jack Rogers

"Jack Rogers Navajo sandals are a beloved beach and resort staple. The moccasin-inspired design of the thong sandal was the invention of a Florida cobbler who made them for an upscale store in Palm Beach. Jack Rogers Navajos were at first a local hit and now are a world wide obsessions. They are made in every color and material imaginable (crocodile, suede, alligator, python), and the signature whip-stitching makes for plenty of color combos. You can get them custom-made, monogrammed, high-heeled or low-heeled, and they are a must for channeling Jackie O, Kate Hudson, or Liv Tyler in all their summer glory."

"Direct your feet to the sunny side of the street..."~Dorothy Fields~

(All the information above is from the book)

What are your thoughts on sandals? Do you agree with Ms. Garcia? I know that many of you are a long way off from being able to wear them again this year, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts. :)

Looking ahead to warmer weather, here are some sandal options. :)

Have a beautiful and blessed day!

  1. Gosh I love her books!
    Sandal lover here too!!!!
Thanks for sharing...I might buy this one too!

  2. Fabulous post! I love sandals (and boots)!

  3. great post! go away, heaps of snow, I'm ready for sandals!

  4. I have so many pairs of sandals, I honestly need to force myself to step away when I see another cute pair. I live in a warm climate and wear them for many months of the year. Although today we are having record low temperatures and it's freezing! At the moment it's hard to even think about warm weather gear :)

  5. Thanks for stopping by and for all the lovely comments ladies! I hope you all have a beautiful day! :)

  6. Sounds like a great book! I will have to get it sometime soon, Great blog,I'm also from Florida and it's great to find and connect to other bloggers from here! Luv the blog!

  7. I own more pairs of sandals than I would even care to count/know about.....I own fancy Birks for evening wear as well. I have to wear special inserts in my shoes most of the time so Birks are the only sandal I can wear. My hubby says I have at least 50 pair and he is probably right. I know I own about 30 pair of flip flops that I am not supposed to wear but do anyway:)

  8. I have many pairs of sandals too - but since it is warm where I live most of the year (Southern California) I justify it :) Some of my favorites are:

-The leather capri flip flops from J.Crew. My absolute favorite of these is in a nude color patent leather - I think they are ombre actually but look nude. I got these a couple of years ago and hope they make more before they wear out as I would DIE without them in the summer, lol.
-I also love a good high espadrille wedge, have some Via Spiga ones with an ankle strap that I like but they can kill my feet if I'm walking all day.
    - My current can't wait to wear favorite are my lace up dorian wedges from J.Crew. Got them just after the first of the year and I've tried them on with all my dresses just waiting until its warm enough!

  9. Patricia, Anon@9:27am, and Stacie: Thank you all so much for stopping by to comment!
