Style Inspiration by FFM: *9.18.11* Interpretation/Recreation

Today's post continues an ongoing feature called *Style Inspiration by FFM*, where I will post one of my Polyvore set designs and include links to items you can purchase to re-create the look if you so choose. Some of the set designs will be outfits I am wearing or have worn in the past, others will be *reader request* sets, and some will simply be outfits I would love to wear. (If possible I try to include a *real life* photo of me in the outfit if it's something I'm wearing at the time. Of course my schedule doesn't always allow time for snapping a pic, but it is definitely something I hope to include more of with this feature in the future.)

Now on to today's *Style Inspiration by FFM*...this set is my interpretation/recreation of a look Jenna Lyons is wearing in the "Step Into My Office" article on Stylelist. I really liked this outfit from the moment I saw the photo and decided to recreate it using items already in my closet.  :)

IRL: I wasn't able to snap a photo of the outfit on me that day, and unfortunately my camera broke the week before last, so I haven't been able to even recreate the look to take one. However, I was able to get these pics of the outfit prior to wearing it so hopefully they will do for now. :)

The Details:

*J.Crew Stretch Perfect Shirt in White. A white button-down is an essential staple piece of any wardrobe, imho. It can be paired with just about anything and everything making the entire outfit look crisp and clean. (Similar here and here.)

*ELLE Boyfriend Jacket (with the flower removed) purchased from Kohl's in 2009. (Similar here and here.)

*J.Crew in-store only 'Annie' pants from last year (seen on me in this post). Similar here and here.

*Silver Hoop excellent 'staple' piece for every wardrobe. If you don't yet own a pair, I would definitely recommend getting them. They are a classic style that continues to stand the test of time and trends. (Similar here and here.)

*Real Collectibles *Faux* Diamond Bracelet by Adrienne Vittadini purchased several years ago. (Similar here and here.)

*My watch was inspired by the look of the Timex® vintage field army watch at J.Crew. My version is the Timex Expedition Metal Field Watch. I removed the leather band and replaced it with a Solid Watch Strap that I picked up on sale from J.Crew.

*Sharif Leopard Handbag purchased several years ago. At the time, this was a big ticket purchase for me, but it has been worth every penny. It is one of my all-time favorite bags and I carry it as often as possible during the fall and winter months. (Similar here and here.)

*Schuler & Sons Fanfare Platforms from Anthropologie. Love these! So cute on, very comfortable, plus I was able to pick them up on sale, making them even better! The color is called Brown on the Anthropologie site, but as you can see from the pics, they are actually more of a russet/reddish color. (Similar here (in Dark Red) and here.)

That's it for now, although I did want to apologize for my lack of posting and responding to comments lately, as well as visiting other blogs frequently. As many of you already know, I homeschool all 4 of my boys. We started back up for the school year last month, so I have been extra busy with school lessons and other related activities each day. I had also hoped to continue posting OOTD's on a regular basis, but found myself without any spare time to do so, and now unfortunately my camera is broken, too. I'm going to see how well the pictures on my phone will turn out though, so if they are decent quality I will try my best to get one up soon. Thank you all for continuing to stop by and even leave comments...they are greatly appreciated, and I read each and every one. :)

Have a lovely day!

  1. Love your iteration of Jenna's outfit. I love the way you help to make fashion fun and possible to recreate! Thanks for your inspiration.

  2. Love it! What an adorable outfit.

  3. Great interpretation! Sadly those Antro shoes didn't work for me. They were so cheaply made that one of the shoes in the pair was so ill fitting that it slipped and moved even if I put in heel pads and liners. They also smelled so horribly of plastic and chemicals! I hate plastic shoes. Very disappointing because they are cute.

  4. Great inspired by outfit. I love your bag.

  5. i love this look, and is totally something that i would wear. the shoes look very comfy.

  6. Lizzy T, Andi, Anon@9:41am, Desert Flower, and OneFashionistaDiva: Thank you all so much for stopping by and for the lovely comments! :)

Anon@9:41: I am so sorry to hear about your Fanfare Platforms! Did you try exchanging for another pair?

  7. Wow, you homeschool 4 boys? And manage to get posts up? That's unbelievable- kudos! Love your version of the outfit- those shoes are especially adorable!

  8. Great outfit! As a fellow homeschooler, I can't believe you even have the time to do what you do already!! It is hard isn't it? Sometimes at my home the wash is piled up, schoolwork all over and I am still in my pajamas! Reading your blog inspires me! I def do understand what is invloved in teaching, I homeshool 3 kids, one special needs child and one with dyslexia.
